General questions regarding recoveries, would there be any problems with flashing the ROM, Gapps & Magisk via TWRP and then switching to the Lineage OS Recovery?
And second question, can/does OTA work with TWRP?

@IcerJo Would like to know this too. I used twrp to flash unofficials (with gapps and magisk), then today, I used it to flash the migration tool and then the official build, but I don't know about OTAs since I haven't been on a lineage official rom for years (and that was on a different phone).

@Besuz Then is there any reason at all to switch to lineage recovery? Is it more reliable? Does it let you upgrade versions without dirty flashing or wiping?

Updating via OTA is a little smoother process with Lineage recovery, but you can't restore a backup. So if you want to flash new roms daily, it's not for you.

Thank you @Besuz & @T1mb3 , I don't plan on flashing ROMs other than LineageOS so seamless updates like stock will be perfect, also does the recovery get updated with each ota update or does it have to be manually flashed each release?
I'll give the Lineage recovery a try from my Linux laptop.

In developer options there is a choise to update recovery.
Generally it doesn't have many updates though.

same here. Which Gapps are you using? I noticed it boots fine if I don't flash Gapps. Tried stock 20201106. Downloading micro now to see if that works.

Hi, dumb question but for the latest firmware, do I press the big green button at the top or do I download the latest file beneath it?

The file beneath it that actually says H1. The green button is to download the crdroid Rom

Wanted to report that my issue was with the Gapps. Booted fine with micro. Hope this solves your issue too.

About Open Gapps : https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps.html
Note: If you opt to use Open GApps, they offer a variety of sizes of packages that include and overwrite different apps. We only recommend package sizes up through nano, as described in Open GApps Package Comparison. If you use a larger package, we can not guarantee that everything will function on your device, as in many of these cases our included apps are overwritten in favor of the Google App equivalents.
So, flash pico or nano only.

Only "issue" I found so far is that with LOS 17.1 it is not possible anymore to dislable one of the sim cards:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/gc4exa/cant_disable_sim_in_los_171/

Edit: As someone asked for this: Safetynet fails for me with MagiskHide Props Config.
This should help pass SafetyNet: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83616809&postcount=374

I'm suprised there's no option to disable the SIM cards. Hopefully it isn't a OnePlus exclusive thing.

@whatnoww That is what I meant with " Safetynet fails for me with MagiskHide Props Config." But thx :)
As I dont use apps relying on Safetynet, I am not further investigating into this. But if someone wants something to be checked/tested, I can do this.

Edit: With MagiskHide Props Config + hiding Magisk from Play Services, SafetyNet check passes - thx to @whatnoww!

Strange. It worked for me. Did you hide magisk from Play Services? I find that it wont pass unless I do that. Though I guess that's fine if you aren't interested in it.

Is updating the firmware still necessary when going from official 16 to official 17?

Sent from my OnePlus 5T using XDA Labs
Apparently , firmware update is needed.
A hofix firmware update have been published right now by Rautamak, here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/lineageos-cheeseburger/files/firmware/

On a side question: I currently run LOS official 16.0 on OP5, with codework's TWRP and Magisk.
If I update into official LOS 17.1, will I lose the root ? Need to re-flash Magisk and all his modules (camera dotfix, etc.) ?
Do you suggest me tu use preferrably LOS recovery, or can I flash official TWRP recovery?

Thanks for your help !
