Thanks, but is this rom really google-free?
Should I expect conflicts between MicroG and any Google services, Integrated in this rom?
I'm not a pro regarding Android's cource code, but imo there are no Google services integrated...the integration is provided by flashing GApps.

Although if you want to use any messenger(s) that depend on a connection to Google servers, i.e. Whatsapp and I think FB, a certain degree of connection will be provided by MicroG. This connection is reduced to a minimum, just to ensure the functionality of messaging.

I' using MicroG for a while now and never experienced any conflicts or issues.

Give it a try :good:

Using MicroG is also more battery-friendly ;)

Whatsapp doesn't depend on Play Services, it works even without MicroG. You only need to disable battery optimization for it

I didn't mention Play Services at all...I wrote Goole Servers!

Maybe I'm wrong concerning Whatsapp and FB, but some messenger apps do definitely depend on Google Servers respectively on Google Cloud Messaging. MicroG provides that sort of "connection" if needed.

Most mainstream messengers don't depend on google... Signal works without gapps or microg and so does Telegram (if you use the F-Droid version that strips proprietary parts and Google depedencies among other things). I don't know about FB Messenger, but using that on a Google-free phone makes absolutely no sense IMO, since the privacy benefits you gain are essentially nullified.

Dude, that's not the point. All I was talking about is that you still can use messengers (if you need them) and any other apps that need a connection to Google Servers, because MicroG provides that type of functionality. So there shouldn't be any limitation in system's functions using MicroG if you're only used to "normal" android systems. Also, there will be no conflicts concerning Google stuff.

My reply was just for general information.

Nullifying any benefits that come with MicroG if you use certain apps, is a completely different point...

I hope I got it right now, that I can use the crdroid rom without gapps and without MicroG? At least as long as I only use apps that don't need one of the Google ****.
Yes, it's what I do

We must have talked past each other then. I was talking about setups without any google services at all, no gapps, no MicroG.

And MicroG is not a complete replacement. Some apps that work with Gapps may not work with MicroG simply because there is either no equivalent API implemenaltation (probably on purpose, like analytics or maps), or because of other reasons like not having an up to date signature etc.

I think you're right, each of us was talking about somethin slightly different.

I was just referring to the first reply concerning possibly occuring problems/conflicts with Google while using MicroG and just wanted to give some extra information to the lady :good:

After a long time I have tried a custom rom and now I have been using crdroid for four days now. (With Pico gapps, Aurora store and F-Droid)

I am very positively surprised. The rom runs without problens, fast and the settings are clear.

However, I can't get along with the browser at all, but there are enough alternatives...

Now I have a question about the update process: does OEM unlocking have to be enabled when I update the rom in recovery? I use orangefox recovery by the way.

And do I have to remove the fingerprint lock before flashing?

Thanks!
