After a long time I have tried a custom rom and now I have been using crdroid for four days now. (With Pico gapps, Aurora store and F-Droid)

I am very positively surprised. The rom runs without problens, fast and the settings are clear.

However, I can't get along with the browser at all, but there are enough alternatives...

Now I have a question about the update process: does OEM unlocking have to be enabled when I update the rom in recovery? I use orangefox recovery by the way.

And do I have to remove the fingerprint lock before flashing?

Thanks!
Why do you use Aurora store although you use Gapps? F-Droid I can understand, since there are exclusive apps not available on the Play Store. But using Gapps and then using Aurora instead of the Play Store just makes no sense to me.

OK thanks. And can you answer my questions from above?
About the OEM unlocking, I have no idea, but I guess it wouldn't make a difference since your bootloader is unlocked. This toggle only makes sense if you have a locked bootloader.

As for fingerprint, if you dirty flash it should be fine, but if you clean flash you will have to remove any lockscreen password/PIN and fingerprints. Still, it never hurts to have a backup in case something does go wrong.

Separate ringtones for sim1 and sim2

Hello,

first of all thank you for the work and effort to make this rom possible.

I would like to know if this ROM supports different ringtone selection for each sim card?

thank you in advance,
regards,
Vapito

Well maybe someone does want to download apps from Play store anonymously.

That is possible with Aurora but not with Play store.

In that case it doesn't make sense to use gapps then. Aurora store is meant as an alternative for Play Store on setups without Gapps or with MicroG.

I agree but still someone who doesn't know how to setup a gapps free phone, can skip providing / logging with an account and use Aurora instead...

No, not replaced. I don't think that's even possible to replace the playstore when Gapps are installed.
My long-term goal is to have an Android smartphone that is completely free from Google.
And that's why I'm trying different things. You have to try a lot of things, because there are very few people on the internet with a deep knowledge. That's why I have to make my own experiences.

Most of all I would like to switch to /e/ foundation. But the latest version for Oneplus 5 is based on Android 7.

The only thing that keeps me from completely abandoning Google is the missing support for push messages without Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). I hope there will be an open source solution soon: https://bubu1.eu/openpush/

Topic: After testing crdroid for a longer time now, I noticed a few things: Wifi sometimes loses the connection and basically the range doesn't seem to be as good as with Stock. And sometimes I have to press the power button two or three times to wake up the device. Also, some pre-installed apps are really completely useless, e.g. the voice recorder doesn't work at all. And the pre-installed browser is also very strange. But I don't want to complain, there are enough alternatives in F-Droid.

All in all I think that this Rom is well suited for daily use.

-> Push service is working with MicroG...or are you talking about special stuff regarding that?

-> If you're talking about included call recorder, your statement is not correct. It's working perfectly.

In my opinion, the APP is crap. 1. recordings are stored in WAV and you can't change it. 2. after a recording you only have access to the last file. You have to open the previous ones with an explorer.

And last but not least 3. after a certain time the APP is crashed when the screen is turned off. The recording is lost. With the recorder from simplemobiltools this does not happen (both apps with battery optimization switched on).

I have not tried MicroG yet. This is my next project., Push should work on microg. But it would be nicer to have a version independent of Google.

I noticed that the sound quality via Bluetooth is worse than with OxygenOS. The sound is dull with reduced brilliance.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

EDIT: When I turn OFF Qualcomm aptX Audio, the sound is normal.
Bluetooth receiver: Avantree RC500
(With OxygenOS Qualcomm aptX runs fine with Avantree)

When I first jumped on this rom I experienced the same. I flashed the Magical module called Ainur Narsil and this improved the sound a lot for me
