Flashing only the ROM after a full wipe works, but flashing Gapps linked in first post with it results in getting stuck at boot screen.

So, which version of Gapps works?

EDIT:
The versions of Gapps I've tried are:
open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20191006-BETA.zip
open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20190920-UNOFFICIAL.zip (from the mirror)
I flashed without any issues.
what i did:
wipe, system, dalvik, cache (not data and internal storage) in TWRP 3.3.1-Codeworkx
FW 9.0.9 - wipe cache
flash 17 build, open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20191006-BETA.zip, Magisk 19.5
wipe cache/dalvik
reboot. booted normally. all apps intact!

Did you remove lockscreen pin in advance or did it work without removal?

I was on 10 but not at the moment but what I did was download & flash the rootless driver and then download the apk
Thanks, this led to getting it working.

Steps

1. Flash viper4android rootless zip here
2. Install 2.7.1.0 apk here
3. Open magisk and install audio modification library
4. Reboot.

Without AML the driver installs but does not process audio.

Hey guys,

I'm still on crDroid 5 (Android 9). Can somebody tell me if this rom is already stable enough to use it as a daily driver? Or should I wait a bit longer? How's battery life? :)

Thanks in advance for your reply :)

I would say absolutely. I have already made it my daily driver. Neobuddy89 is killing it. It already has most important features imo. Hold back to kill, battery bar, Oct security, substratum works now, viper4android working, great battery life. Honestly most issues are with certain apps not being updated for 10.

The good thing this time around you don't have to completely wipe the internal storage. So you can nandroid give it a try and if unhappy go back. Good luck.

I disagree.
I've had many bugs/freezes, battery drops from 100 to 0 in mere hours.
Will try a clean flash next update and see if theres any change.

Never did get gps to work. Google maps could not lock on, just give a location but as soon as you asked for directions, nothing. Random freezes and hangs, and other issues. Super frustrating

Thanks for the update :cowboy:

Is flashing instruction in OP still valid?
Tried to flash several times yesterday following stated steps, and ended up in bootloop each time

Thanks for the update.

For some reason, recent app switch button doesn't work after the update and the pixel launcher force stops all the time I go back to the main screen. Anybody else experiencing the same?

Even the onscreen recent button doesn't work.

Update : tried changed the usage of recent button to other features, everything works fine except the recent apps switcher.

I think that was the problem from gapps stated fixed in this build. I didn't notice because I dirty flashed 10/17 over 10/13 build. I'm about to clean flash 10/21 now. Will report back.

Edit: 10/21 build running great so far, I tried a dirty flash over 10/17 everything seems fine.
My steps for dirty flash were, wipe system, cache, and dalvik then flashed rom, gapps, magisk and noverity.
