[ROM][10.0][OneUI 2.5] Rise-Q v2.1 for A5 and A7 2017

Search This thread
Here the battery capacity shows 3500 mAh instead of 3600 mAh.

The screen displays 6.2 inches instead of 5.7 inches.

Maybe these two issues have to do with high battery consumption.
Im pretty sure this is an issue from CPU-Z. SInce I set the device model to S9+ to pass safetynet CPU-Z thinks your device is an S9+ and therefore assumes those specs (6.2 inches and 3500mAh are S9+ specs).

Alright then. I think I have already said that this rom i the best gift the poor A5 2017 could get.

I use the phone as a remote control for my Samsung TV with Smart Things and I have finally found a phone that has the function to cast the audio from the TV to the phone in order to use it as a pair of wireless headphones.

Even if Smart Things got so heavy that even on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 feels slow, it works as it should on the A5 2017 . Nicely but not great becasue from time to time the audio that gets casted from the TV to the phone in very noisy and disturbed.

I don't know if there's a solution to this issue.

Also is there any way to make the phone a little snappier? I don't know: a slightly oveclocked kernel...

And finally: the sometimes mentioned Wi-Fi bug (the phone does not connect to my home network after boot) was solved using Automate :)

Not sure if your issue with audio is actually device- or firmware-specific or if it's just your TV. Could you possibly check if that happens on other ROMs too?

In terms of making the phone faster, there is already a kernel with overclock available here.
Also to be honest, since this ROM is ported from a flagship phone and our SOC is not that fast anyway, there is probably not much room for improvement other than flashing the overclocked kernel.

Apart from that, glad you like the ROM.

Hm ok I will flash version 1.7 of the rise kernel tomorrow, thank you.

I will also check with my mom's Galaxy A71 for the audio problem. My best choice would be to use the Tab S4 but I don't know why Samsung did not make it fully compatible with smart things removing the audio casting feature.

I'll let you know. Meanwhile I hope that someone else could test this feature on the A5 2017.

And yes. Very nice rom. Just because of the the full smart things compatibility it would deserve a medal :S

@Simon1511 I have installed your kernel version 1.7 on the Rise-q 2.1. Everything went fine without a single problem. I don't wanna mess around with HKTweaks or Magisk, so I will leave it as is.
Is it overclocked out of the box, right?

Hi everyone !

I can't put the phone in deep sleep. It's constantly staying at minimum cpu speed.

I have rise 2.1, rise kernel 1.8 and magisk to gain root with no active module.

Does somebody encounter this problem ?

I reported this issue a few month ago, but since it still happenning... :
Sometimes (it seems totally random), the alarm doesn't ring in the morning. This week, I turned the AOD on, and this morning my phone didn't ring. I found out thanks to the AOD that my phone was showing 7h12 (it was actually 7h20) and when I turned the screen on, the alarm rang immediately showing 7h20. I always thought my phone was doing some kind of weird deep sleep stuff.

Do you know what could cause this issue ? I have had many phones with many roms and this is the first time I face this issue. I already reset the rom, reinstalled it (clean flash) and havent tweaked anything. I changed the alarm app (first samsung, then google, and now LineageOS) and the issue remains.

Thanks in advance !

Hello developer
Is it possible to add these feature toggles into this ROM?

Hello everyone, I've been using this for a long time and I'm quite satisfied. however, I had disabled the physical keys during the installation. Now I want to use the keys again. Can I do this without deleting everything while reinstalling?

Just reinstall the ROM and don't check navbar/gestures. Also don't check "Wipe system" in the aroma installer, then you can safely ignore all the other options.

    • Boot into recovery, mount /system and delete /system/priv-app/CIDManager folder through the recovery's file manager. (Note that the path may be /system/system/priv-app/CIDManager depending on the recovery used)

    • This mostly happens if you're rooted with Magisk because the system detects that you're rooted and denies DRM. To fix that, install this Magisk Module. Note that DRM will fall back to L3 which means that you won't be able to watch anything in HD.

    UPDATE
    Rise-Q v2.1 is here!

This is mainly a bugfix release, mostly small things (like removing the fingerprint unlock animation), but also some bigger ones. One of those fixes is Secure folder. I have finally been able to get it to work. To bypass issues with secure folder, I highly recommend to install Secure Folder only when doing a clean flash. I won't reply to bugreports from people who dirty flashed and have issues with it.
Apart from that, I have seen multiple users report low media sound since v2.0. I compared the sound volume between v1.0, v1.1 and v2.0 and it sounded 100% identical for me. It may be an issue that comes from dirty flashing v2.0 on top of v1.1, so consider a clean flash first and tell me the exact steps to reproduce.

Finally, as always for a new update, I recommend wiping your system partition before installation to bypass possible issues.

    UPDATE
    Rise-Q v2.0 is here!

At first, I want to thank @ananjaser1211 for his fixes and of course for answering all my stupid questions. Also thanks to @Option58 for upstreaming our kernel to Linux 3.18.140. Finally, huge thanks to all testers on Telegram for even finding the tiniest bugs.
As this release of Rise-Q is now based on OneUI 2.5 from Galaxy Note 10 Lite, dirty flashing it over Rise-Q v1.0 or v1.1 will in most cases not work! It is highly recommended to wipe /data in recovery before installing Rise-Q v2.0.

    GOD bless you MR.Simon1511;
    I hope to see android 11 ui3 for a520f Can I see?

    TANX Dear Friend
Im gonna say this for once so everyone knows about it:
Do NOT expect a OneUI 3 port from me. In my opinion, the added value between OneUI 2.5 and OneUI 3 is too low for the amount of work this would probably need.
Apart from that, there would be 2 major problems:
    1. HWC
    2. Samsung Camera

Our old Pie HWC has been working fine on Pie and Q, but on R Google decided to change HWC related stuff again which makes our Pie HWC incompatible to android 11. And yes, I know that HWC has been fixed on LineageOS 18 for our device, but the fix from there is likely not gonna work on OneUI. In short, this means for you: Broken HWC = very poor performance.
Also samsung camera is gonna be a problem since all(?) newer samsung devices use a newer camera API that is simply incompatible to our "older" camera implementation.

Note that these are just a few big bugs we know about so far, but there would probably be even more that would make a ROM based on that pretty much unusable in my opinion.

So in conclusion: No OneUI 3 for our device(s).

Apart from that, I want to thank everyone once again for all the bugs you found and reported and all your thankfulness!
