Woah pretty cool ROM, i was tired of the trash of MIUI (the last update to Android 10 was terrible). Flashed this and changed kernel to sixteen and everything works perfectly, almost 2 weeks using it and no problems, excellent work!!
what's the link for sixteen kernel, and how to back up stock kernel

Headphone bluetooth etc missing in status bar

Double tap to wake up not working
Use the whyred version for now.

I contacted OP for more information and I just hope he's OK.

If he won't continue this I'll do eleven and anyone willing to help or take over official is great with me because we need a bit of cooperation on that to get this fantastic ROM to that point. It's the closest you'll ever get to what all versions of android always should be like.

I don't really want to do an official version, I want to do my version with my kernel and no zram, use cleancache and then use an sdcard mounted as ext4 with a swapfile on it that you can set to whatever size you want is a much better idea than using actual RAM for a swap. Also, we nee to update PSI in the kernel, this is a disgrace.

Is this again a dead project? I'm not sure ... no update, not any word since october ...
Right after I contacted him he made some updates to the tree on the pixelexperience-devices github but he hasn't responded to my PM nor has he published anything really new, I have a hard time seeing how the kernel change would improve things either.

The good news is that at least he's alive and kicking and has the time to update his github, the bad news is that reviewing what was done it's not much of an update and won't be fit for eleven anytime soon.

Anx camera magisk module allows 48mpx works with the gcam installed on this rom.
There is no Gcam intstalled on this ROM, unless it's separate from the source tree in which case the source tree is not valid and in that case you shouldn't ever be using this ROM.

NEVER use a ROM without a published source tree that actually contains all that is used to build the ROM, if it's hidden it's hidden for a reason. That reason is most usually for extortion, stealing information or ripping off banking app credentials.

I'm not even joking, this forum has had its fair share of it.

My mistake. It's com.android.camera that's included with this rom
I assumed incorrectly that it was gcam.
I understand the frustration fuzzy people are feeling. I do.
However 48mpx photos are working on my handset after flashing a module with magisk

Your points are valid though.

No worries. A proper Gcam is not available for this device no matter what anyone says. MIUI cam is the best there is for our device. So... use that.

Maybe he has something important to do in his life. Exam, hard work, whatever. But he is alive, good.

Maybe you both can cooperate and coordinate this project together? You seem to be competent for this.

In the meantime I have tried HavocOS, also a good ROM. But to be honest, I really would like to be able to use this ROM again, when it's gotten some updates and Bugfixes.

Thanks ?

I going to sell my RN8.... I'm done with this phone and thus Roms.... Only Los is still Perfect for this device (no 48mpx)
Rest is a one day/man show....
Ok, just sell it. That's something that cares only to you but I'm going to tell you something: remember that you are not paying for development. Devs are free to stop, continue or delegate the development of their Roms when they want and we, users, have to respect that.

If you don't like that, that's up to you but it's very mean to devs when a person complains in the way you do.

Btw, I'm using custom ROMs since mi first Android: an htc magic, so I know the value of what devs do and I don't find right to complain for something that you are receiving completely free.

Yup, he's doing something but I still find it odd that a dev of an official ROM would upload work without updates. If he doesn't have the time then hand it over to someone who does.

wait...what ? seriously ? ELI5 please. Is it because this device use Samsung camera ?
No, it's mainly because Gcam is a Pixel exclusive and not open source, at best it can be hacked to somewhat work on other devices. There is no reason to use it other than some people crying about how great photos on the Pixel 5 are but guess what, it's not because of the camera app. MIUI cam is just as good, just use that or Opencam or any of the million others out there that all work fine.

While true as a dev for an *OFFICIAL* ROM you do take on some responsibilities and if you can't handle it you should just hand it over to someone else who can.

What you are saying is absolutely true for anyone else which is why I usually don't do official anythings (that and users have to be able to know how to create swap files or partitions in Linux to use my work).

Search for anx camera in Google. It's a magisk module. V185 works just fine. V190 might need a bootloop fix provide by anx dev
Ah ok. Yeah I've flashed these modules already. It's made 48mpxl available within android camera, I just thought that there was the APK available for miui camera, for the interface.
