Thanks I do prefer havoc over lineage.
Also solved the 5g. Apparently network provider removed 5g access which I didnt know was possible. 5g back and 300mbps download. Happy person

Does anyone else notice screen not ever timing out on it's own? I feel like I've tried everything to fix this. Using latest official update. Screen times out if on lock screen but not if unlocked. Help to fix this would be appreciated.

I've been wondering about that the whole day! That, and the AI-button can't be changed. Though, I'm glad it has been set to SEARCH instead of what it was before.
Using "Button Mapper", I managed to change it though. But there's an official option in the control panel menu, it won't work though.

If not just a problem that only I have I'll stop trying to figure out ways to fix it. Been trying for a few hours now and the best best I have found is Lock Screen (Root) which is like pressing the power button. Annoying when I want to fall asleep watching YouTube and when I wake up my screen is still on ?

Wierd thing...the screen times out when Greenify is open but when only running in the background screen stays on.

Try adding "Smart Pixels" to the quick menu. Actually, I think it's already there.
Be aware, though, if you try to change some settings in the control panel later and it refuses to let you input or claims that an app is preventing your input, it's because of "Smart Pixels". Just turn it off when you try to hit what ever the control panel is refusing to let you change, then.
But it should save you a bit of battery.

I love this rom, but I have a problem with charging. I'm using Baseus qc3.0 charger and when I plug smartphone, I see something like 30mA, so it's not even charge. Official xiaomi charger works properly. Is there solution for this?

Yeah, unfortunately I noticed. I haven't noticed any other bugs it's very frustrating with a ROM a find otherwise very smooth with a great battery life.

It's a kernel issue. I just flashed the lineage-17.1-20200804-UNOFFICIAL-andromeda-kernel (boot.img) and now the screen times out.
If you do flash a different kernel, and if you have magisk installed, remember to reflash it afterwards.

And who ever is the maintainer of Havoc OS for our device - there is some setting that has been set wrong when compiling the kernel, this prevents the screen from timing out.

I have absolutely no experience with flashing a
kernel. I assume that the official Xiaomi Andromeda kernel is built for Android 9 so can't be used for 10, is that true? Also, are there any custom kernels you could recommend I use so that I don't soft brick like a true amateur again.

The kernel is in the "zip-package". If you unzip Havoc-OS-v3.9-20200916-andromeda-Official.zip there is a boot.img-file there. That's the kernel.
If you don't know what you are doing, then don't do it.

I'm hoping I made enough noise for some maintainer of this ROM to get the memo, and check what ever it is that isn't set correctly in the kernel config. Or, if it's the compiler that does something weird, test a different one.

Using the wrong kernel (one that hasn't been compiled specifically for this ROM by the maintainers) might leave unwanted results. I.e. heh, the screen not turning off. Because some sensor wasn't compiled in one kernel, where it wasn't necessary because it was delt with by a different package, method, or what ever.

In other words, if you don't want to lose the data on your phone, don't play around with it.
If you don't mind (you have a good backup, and turned off pin-coding and patterns in order to start the phone - otherwise a backup won't work) then by all means, play around a bit and try to learn something from doing so.

The kernel can be flashed in one of several ways, here's two of them:
put the phone in bootloader/fastboot mode (power off, wait 10 seconds, hold down volume down and push on power until it powers on, there should now be a large text on the screen saying "fastboot"). From there you flash boot.img with - fastboot flash boot boot.img.
Or you can enter recovery (TWRP - volume up and power on, instead) and flash boot.img with - adb push boot.img /dev/block/sde49.

If you don't have fastboot or adb installed you have to install them first. Obviously.
That is something you will have to google.

I don't know which kernels from which roms works with Havoc 3.8 or 3.9, that's just a matter of trial and error.
And remember, if you, or anyone else reading this, do decide to flash a different kernel, remember to flash magisk, if you use it, in twrp again afterwards. Otherwise magisk won't work.

Additional installation instructions if coming from stock MIUI:

In order to install a custom ROM you must have an unlocked bootloader. You can apply for this at Xiaomi's official site: https://en.miui.com/unlock/

You then need to install a custom recovery. Official TWRP builds are available, and the official maintainer has a thread with installation instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...covery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-mi-mix-t3941867

Once you have TWRP installed, boot into recovery mode. Wipe cache, dalvik, system, vendor partitions.

You are strongly advised to flash the latest modem firmware. You can grab that here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-andromeda/files/firmware.zip/download

WARNING: You will lose all saved files on your internal storage in the next step, make a backup of important files before proceeding
Data partition must be formatted (not wiped) to remove forced encryption. Use the bottom right "Format Data" button in the Wipe menu. You will be asked to type "yes" to confirm your choice.

At this point your internal storage will be empty. Reset the phone and go back into recovery. Copy the ROM from your PC to the phone, click install in TWRP and select the ROM. If you wish to install gapps/nanodroid, copy it to the phone and install after the ROM.

Reboot back to system and enjoy custom ROM goodness :)

Thank you very much for your answer.
    I really liked HavocOS.
But maybe I should switch to LineageOS?
What do you recommend as a developer?

All of my builds are now encrypted so you will still have to format your data partition to install them. Let us try an alternative method of installation, this assumes you have access to a PC with working adb

Encryption does not work with OrangeFox, you must use TWRP. If you switched to F2FS you must use my unofficial TWRP (download) or if you are still on EXT4 then official TWRP is fine.

    • Boot into recovery mode.
    • Select Advanced tab
    • Select ADB Sideload and swipe to activate
    • Connect phone to PC
    • Open a terminal window and type:
      Code:
      adb sideload Havoc-OS-v3.7-20200713-andromeda-Unofficial.zip
    • Once the ROM has been flashed, then select Wipe menu
    • Select Advanced Wipe (bottom left)
    • Wipe Dalvik, Cache and Data
    • WARNING: You will lose all of your files on internal storage in the next step, make a backup first
    • Go back to Wipe menu and select Format Data (bottom right)
    • Type yes to confirm your choice
    • Reboot system
