It's a kernel issue. I just flashed the lineage-17.1-20200804-UNOFFICIAL-andromeda-kernel (boot.img) and now the screen times out.
If you do flash a different kernel, and if you have magisk installed, remember to reflash it afterwards.

And who ever is the maintainer of Havoc OS for our device - there is some setting that has been set wrong when compiling the kernel, this prevents the screen from timing out.

I've been using Havoc for the last few months and I've never seen the bug either of you two are suggesting. It's definitely not a kernel issue or it would be present on every device running Havoc. Nobody in the telegram group has mentioned this bug either.

I suggest doing a clean install of the rom; wipe cache, dalvik, system and vendor; flash rom; format data (different to wipe) and type 'yes'; reboot device.

Its more than likely an issue with your install than the kernel or ROM.

Havoc 3.9 support OTA ?

Nope, Need to flash manually. Takes barely an extra minute than OTA updates and its only once a month at most.

Bluetooth microphone issue

I really love the rom 3.9.

I am having issues with relatively poor reception compared to what I had during the brief miui experience. In particular Whatsapp is the only problematic app, but both on wifi and lte both of which work flawlessly otherwise...

I also have an issue with microphone selection when using bluetooth headphones. For some reason the phone point blank refuses to use the headset microphone I tried several apps, but it stubbornly refuses to change. Happens in both Whatsapp and recorder. If someone had similar issues and or had resolved them would appreciate it.

The screen off problem that I was experiencing disappeared after I messed around with a few settings in Configuration Centre. Not sure exactly what I done but screen now turns off after the amount of time I set it to with no problems.

For anyone who may encounter screen timeout issues I finally (after many hours) narrowed down the culprit to the HiddenCore module 1.7 enabled with Ed-xposed. My screen timeout started to work as soon as I disabled this app, deleted it then replaced it with the modified 1.7 by Evengard here:

I have installed Havoc 4.3 and I am delighted with the work you have done. But I am also upset by one important little thing for me. In the new version, you cannot invert the navigation buttons. It's horrible. I spend a lot of nerves to get the smartphone to do what I want. Please correct.

Hello @Inkypen,

will you make an Update for the newest security patch? Because there is an remote code execution bug, that is critical.

See here (but watch out it is in german) https://www.heise.de/news/Patchday-...t-Angreifern-die-volle-Kontrolle-6035560.html

If not how "hard" is the process to update the security process. I'm a developer myself and would like to help to maintain this Rom. But I never did anything in this area of expertise.

Thanks again for this wonderful rom and stay safe!

Additional installation instructions if coming from stock MIUI:

In order to install a custom ROM you must have an unlocked bootloader. You can apply for this at Xiaomi's official site: https://en.miui.com/unlock/

You then need to install a custom recovery. Official TWRP builds are available, and the official maintainer has a thread with installation instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...covery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-mi-mix-t3941867

Once you have TWRP installed, boot into recovery mode. Wipe cache, dalvik, system, vendor partitions.

You are strongly advised to flash the latest modem firmware. You can grab that here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-andromeda/files/firmware.zip/download

WARNING: You will lose all saved files on your internal storage in the next step, make a backup of important files before proceeding
Data partition must be formatted (not wiped) to remove forced encryption. Use the bottom right "Format Data" button in the Wipe menu. You will be asked to type "yes" to confirm your choice.

At this point your internal storage will be empty. Reset the phone and go back into recovery. Copy the ROM from your PC to the phone, click install in TWRP and select the ROM. If you wish to install gapps/nanodroid, copy it to the phone and install after the ROM.

Reboot back to system and enjoy custom ROM goodness :)

Thank you very much for your answer.
    I really liked HavocOS.
But maybe I should switch to LineageOS?
What do you recommend as a developer?

All of my builds are now encrypted so you will still have to format your data partition to install them. Let us try an alternative method of installation, this assumes you have access to a PC with working adb

Encryption does not work with OrangeFox, you must use TWRP. If you switched to F2FS you must use my unofficial TWRP (download) or if you are still on EXT4 then official TWRP is fine.

    • Boot into recovery mode.
    • Select Advanced tab
    • Select ADB Sideload and swipe to activate
    • Connect phone to PC
    • Open a terminal window and type:
      Code:
      adb sideload Havoc-OS-v3.7-20200713-andromeda-Unofficial.zip
    • Once the ROM has been flashed, then select Wipe menu
    • Select Advanced Wipe (bottom left)
    • Wipe Dalvik, Cache and Data
    • WARNING: You will lose all of your files on internal storage in the next step, make a backup first
    • Go back to Wipe menu and select Format Data (bottom right)
    • Type yes to confirm your choice
    • Reboot system
