clean install feedback

Ok, I've given Android 10 another chance after stupidly ruining my Android-9 installation,
and the result is very promising. Here's some feedback of what I did:

1. Full Wipe
2. Flashing (Mernurishas 2020-02-09-build, OpenGAppsPico) via ADB sideload
3. Booting and accepting Google's offer to fully restore (from its latest Android-9 backup)
4. Rooting via Magisk

Result is a stable system, even after installing quite a few apps
No issues with sdcard, battery, wifi or any other radio - so far :)

Dirty install on the top of LineageOS 7.1.2 didn't work here, no SD card visible, sough it has worked fine with LOS 16 also from mernurisha

This ROM is not loading after first restart. On the first, it works all good, until I restart the device. After that it freezes on the Samsung logo for like 40 seconds, and reboots. I did full wipe before installation, and tried with different gaps versions, today I did with the latest. Still no luck
I've tried latest ROM on two different devices, same problem. It's not booting after first or second restart. And still problem with the SD CARD. On one device, it offers to format SD Card, and it works after that, on another, formatting is freezing on 20% and nothing happens

Describe your installation steps in more detail. Which smartphone model, which TWRP version, which gap version etc.? The order of installation. Clean installation?
I never had such problems with gps or sd-card or anything else and nfc works for me (can read and write nfc tags) on LOS-16 and LOS-17.1.

If that's really what some people are saying here about different hardware models, then there's no point in continuing with this thread.

All that, plus exactly what (and how) did you wipe, e.g. did you format /data partition (or just wipe it)? There is a fine line between bitching and being helpful. I know how frustrating this can be from having issues with these devices myself. We need to look past the f**kups, they happen. And turn them into learning opportunities, ways to assist development, because @mernurisha is listening and we are very lucky to have someone like that building for our device.

I always do it this way:

Advanced wipe:

-Dalvik/ART Cache
-Data
-Internal Storage
-cache
-System

Format Data:
type - yes > OK

Then restart device in recovery mode.
Install the rom zip and the Gapps.
Because the Gapps for ten are not yet stable i have made good experiences with this version - open_gapps-arm-10.0-pico-20200124.
The newer Gapp versions make the system slower (maybe not all).

You are right @MrGoodtunes. This is the solution.

Hallo, can anybody confirm, that the device crashes when trying to encrypt the internal storage via LOS´s settings. I had this issue with 16.0, tried 17.1 now and it happened again. Device switches off, when switching it on it stucks in a bootloop.

According to the devices handbook, the GT-I9195I is able to encrypt internal storage and external SD-card with stockROM.

I just want to try to find out if my device has a problem or if it´s a general issue.

Thank you in advance!

Twrp system backup and restore does not work for lineageOS 17.

LineageOS team member arco68 made a workaround though. It's a file you flash after restoring a backup, and it will correct the labels so boot is working. He looked into implementing something in the rom itself, but the problem is that it can't be done during boot because the file system is read-only. So this will have to do for now until a permanent fix is found. I'm guessing something needs to be fixed in TWRP though.

So, flash this after restoring a Lineage 17.1 backup:

Backup of lineageOS 17 works. Restore does not.
The problem has nothing to do with TWRP. It is a missing selinux denials on the rom. I have fixed this on my Pixel 10 rom and HavocOS-10 rom.
New lineageOS 17 with this fixes coming soon.

The following has been fixed or improved:

- Security patch level: March 2020
- ReadingEnhancement in livedisplay works
- Backup and Restore of LineageOS 17.1 works (Make sure your sd card is working properly).

Download on the first page.
Thank you @mernurisha. Wifi works ... This build is almost perfect.

I get the same results with Pixel-10 rom with this app.
It is possible that the app is not fully functional for Android 10.
According to their web page https://opensource.srlabs.de/projects/snoopsnitch
the Snoopsnitch app is an :
"Android application for Android security patch analysis and detecting mobile abuse: Network insecurities, evidence of IMSI catcher, SIM card attacks, and SS7 abuse."
The app was updated on 01.02.2020, so I do not know what to believe... and it's open spurce.
