Thanks waiting to do this for the weekend but to be sure. The 9.12.12 china weekly firmware; there are newer ones. Would it be JUST that verison that works? Or is a newer version better? Does it even matter? For a clean flash which is recommended?

That version is stable and recommended by many.
But newer versions work. However for some users it is causing problems.

As we are unsure wht to do with the face unlock as there are dmca issue going on.

I wasn't able to give Update because source wasn't up yet of PixelPlusUI. 3 days back i tried compiling it and it's booted fine without any issues but later found a major bug that sound setting was crashing. Then source added with fix and some needed changes now it's not buildable. Giving error at 99% (source side error). So i m leaving it all on lead dev. Well source hasn't been updated yet so i have nothing to say. Hope you understand

No worries sir we understand. Well for me updating just for security patch isn't worth and frequently updates like other rom 3-4 updates unnecessary per month is just useless. Anyways for me , i m not dying for update bcz ROM is still running amazingly smooth and fast and i flash latest azure kernel with inproved the performance a little bit ? so no complains. Hope we get some new things whenever update comes. Thanks a lot for amazing stable rom?
Just wanted to share one observation..
In full screen gestures, swipe from left/right and hold should switch to previous app.. That's not working., not sure what's the issue.
If it is not implemented in the rom at all, request you to add it.

I need your help. I was on PixelPlusUI and when I flashed the MIUI 12 beta and turned on it asked for four digits password which I never had, so I wiped and tried to restore my backup but OGT was not recognized. What I did was:
1. Changed Recovery from TWRP to Orange Fox.
2. Wiped all necessary to flash the MIUI 12 and flashed the beta.
3. Turned on - it asked for 4 digits pin/password - which I never had.
- my encryption password was 6 digits.
4. Wiped all necessary to flash a ROM for me to restore the back up.
5. Connected OTG - did not recognize in the phone. Actually just before it was not recognized during the Beta Flashing.
6. So retarted the phone to see if OTG could be recognized and the nightmare came - "The system has been destroyed".
Please someone help me to get back to life. Please... Thank you.
