App requires external storage

Hi!

After I installed AOSP 10 I had problems with not being able to update certain Google apps or install almost any other app I am using. The error given by Google Play Store was "App requires external storage | {APP_NAME} can't be downloaded. Insert an SD card or USB storage with sufficient storage, and try again." On a fresh installation I am using 11,75 GB out of 64,00 GB internal shared storage and 267 MB out of 15,91 GB of portable storage (removable SD card, formatted using Android). If that is not enough I do not know what is. The SD card is working fine, tested on Linux. And I do not know why the system is demanding installation on portable drive, as there is enough space on internal drive.
When I open the default Camera app I get "Insert and SD card before using the camera" notification. I am not using root. File App does recognize the SD card and shows data on it. I can create folders and delete them. If I try to access internal data, File app gives me only folders with names created with random letters.
Is there a way to solve this problem?

Regards; Luka

Hello , i installed on my P20 LITE ANE LX3, 32GB, was EMUI 9.1.0.200 ,So this rom is really fell solid and stable , really is amazing, is very lite, to many free memory , im having issues when i make a first try but,, im start from zero, using twrp , format data , cache, system, and repartition system, and is working great.

On first boot and for and hour or two the Wifi feels Laggy but with a couple of hours using it works great.

The fingerprint is not working, dont fight with that, i hope DarkJoker can make a patch or something; but for now the speed and stability and free memory are the best

The EXT4 sd card not work but the fat32 works good.

i have to say that im using micro g apps package from opengapps , and works really good.

*** I try to install magisk from twrp but is not working, in the past with emui i istall magisk through flashing an erecovery_ramdi.img patched. but i lost the instrucctions to do that so i dont know wich is the proper target on fatboot to flash it, if someone know how to do that please tell me ****

not working for me bro, you do somenthig else?

Okay, try this :
- Download Magisk manager apk. , patched recovery_ramdisk and TWRP 9.1:

Mag. Manager :
https://mega.nz/#!Y8MDXIIQ!zzfGvfqLqrvdoMVQtuAIt6ynhTutjpqWIpgznZk3bms

TWRP:
https://mega.nz/#!tkcTlATI!A8UJGPBGtxJbLcUOJoxCGJj5PFZXzCnjbb3OkwqKTP8

Patched recovery_ramdisk:
https://mega.nz/#!Z9NBVYSZ!NAd-h_VtRecyl28UX5E5z6KMa3cw56KCbQN-P6yxPMY

Copy downloaded TWRP 9.1 and patched recovery_ramdisk to SD Card.
Install Magisk manager 8.0.0. apk.
Install TWRP 9.1 , boot into TWRP ,* tap Install image, then find TWRP-9.1.img file,* mark 'E-Recovery' and confirm . Go back, find magisk_patched-ane-21.img , mark 'Recovery' and confirm. Go back to TWRP's menu > Reboot > Reboot Recovery. Phone will reboot via Recovery , but not into Recovery mode, the device will restart only.
Open Magisk manager and voilá , you have installed Magisk v21 .
P.S.:
Now every time you want to boot phone with root access must hold volume up and power at the beginning (because of patched recovery_ramdisk).
You may also boot in Recovery from TWRP.
How to boot into TWRP:* connect your phone to PC, press and hold Volume Up & Power for 10 sec and more , device will boot into TWRP.
P.S.2:* I just tested it, works like a charm. (e.g. Kernel adiutor, Solid explorer etc.)

I tried to format data on TWRP 3.4, but with no luck. Every time the format got stuck. Once I left the phone with TWRP doing format for 20 hours, but there were no progress. I must have been doing something wrong. I tried to format data to ext4. That was successful, and I was able to install AOSP, but It would just go into bootloop. Too bad. I had to use eRecovery to get back on stock rom to have the phone being useful again. If somebody has some idea what am I doing wrong?

Bro you don't need TWRP to install this AOSP Rom, it's not a flashable .zip file (contains only compressed .img file) . If you are running clean Stock firmware EMUI 9.1, simply flash aosp.img ( cca 1,6 GB) from fastboot, without wiping etc. Use command

fastboot flash system <name-of-rom-image-file>.img

Once it’s completed, type the command
fastboot reboot
and unplug your phone.
BEFORE BOOTING UP THE ROM, YOU WILL NEED TO PERFORM A FACTORY RESET IN STOCK RECOVERY!!!
(run command fastboot reboot, unplug phone, when
annoying huawei message :) )saying that "Your device has been unlocked... etc. " appears on the screen, press and hold Volume Up for 3 sec , then in eRecovery tap Shutdown. Pres and hold Power + Volume Up for 10 sec and more, your phone will boot into Recovery.)

P.S.: use TWRP linked in my previous post.

I had problems with space issues (most likely due to encryption on the phone left by EMUI). Will that be fixed if I flash AOSP without installing TWRP first? What about GApps?

Can I just ask what is the difference between the TWRP you have provided and the one of @DarkJoker360?

you can choose to not do what i suggest, it's your choice... Have a nice day!

I am sorry if I sounded impolite or harsh. I would like to thank you for your suggestions, I just had some additional questions. Especially as all of the instructions I read suggested to install TWRP, format data partition to erase encryption, install OpenGApps from TWRP, ... I will try your method tonight or tomorrow, today I am on duty and found the answers firsthand. I just wanted to be prepared for any bumps on the road.

When .zip archive contains only .img file, it is useless to waste time with TWRP, formatting , wiping etc.

Please, what Platform and variant of Gapps for ANE LX1 ?

I tried Gapps from Open GApps Project. They work for me.

Platform: It depends on your phone. For Huawei P20 Lite you can choose ARM64.
Android: It depends on the version of Android you have installed. At the moment there are available up to version 10.
Variant: Again it is up to you, what do you want to have installed by default. I usually go for micro, as I do not use a lot of default Google apps. I tried aroma, but could not install the desired apps. I did not look any further as to why it did not work, just went for micro version.
