miui has an option to only unlock the phone when finger print is recognized AND pressing button. Is it somehow possible to do the same with this rom?
When ever I pick up my phone it unlocks (i always manage to touch the fingerprint sensor). It drives me nuts!

Also it is somehow possible to get only the lock screen? When I just want to stop the music or see the time, it's faster doing that from the lock screen. Remembering to always us a none-registered finger, is not really a solution...

I did not. I downgraded miui to 12.0.4 (as per instructions) ....flashed rr 8.6.6.
A day later 8.6.7 came out, dirty flashed it.
The instructions don't mean that you need to downgrade. The stated firmware is the minimum. For this release, they're recommending 12.0.8.0.

Still, no guarantees that it will resolve anything. But you could try .. 🤔

I was pretty sure I came across a post that said the downgrade was required. Later read others saying it was not. Perhaps op should amend post to say minimum requirement.

I may try it. Heres an slightly off topic... Do I have to reset back to miui to do a clean flash of RR? And do I have to do fastboot flash of miui... Or will a recovery flash work just as well?

If you're updating the same ROM, as in this case going from 8.6.6 to 8.6.7, a "dirty" flash (ie., not wiping/formatting data) is enough.

Moving to another custom ROM, a "clean" flash (data wipe/format) is recommended, though you could try dirty first - it may work if the ROMs are "related", like RR and CR, though there may be glitches. YMMV

Flashing MIUI (whether thorough app or recovery) is not required unless you want to go back to MIUI.

You can flash newer (or older, if necessary) firmware independently at any time.

Just wipe your... cache when done flashing 😁

ok. I truly apologize if I'm coming across as a noob here. I did some more digging. OP states required "firmware". I was taking that to be synonymous with ROM. In reading through Xiaomi Firmware Updater website, I find that the firmware is a part of miuiu roms, but can be installed separately. So would I be correct in assuming I could just flash the much smaller firmware file... and at that point i shouldn't need to worry particularly about what I flash over what as long as the roms are similar (Q) because the firmware would not be changed except by the miui stock?

The other point... fastboot vs recovery is more of a curiousity issue now. is there any practical difference in the end result of flashing one method or the other? will flashing miui from TWRP for example, fully reset phone to updated stock rom and firmware?

thanks for the clarifications BTW.
Cheers

So, I flashed v8.6.7 over v8.6.6 on a 12.0.7.0 firmware and my notification light is on constantly as well. I tried flashing the 12.0.8.0 firmware both with Orange Fox and TWRP, but somehow I'm still on 12.0.7.0. What am I doing wrong? Or does the 12.0.8.0 ROM still use the 12.0.7.0 firmware?

From my understanding it depence if your phone is Karna or surya. I think 12.0.8 is as of now only availabke for Karna.

After installing RR 8.6.6, is it important which firmware WAS installed?! So far I can only download the "old" RR 8.6.7 file (it is 831MB in size).

just adding: karna has also got 12.0.9 now.
And for surya latest firmware is still 12.0.7?

On the changelog for today's update it says. Surya recommend firmware 12.0.8 but I can't find that version.

My phone is encrypted. Do I have to be aware of something when I update the firmware?

stupid question: where do you find that changelog? The first page of the thread wasn't updated yet, and I can't find the surya specific changelog anywhere?
I found it in the telegram RR surya group. That's the post ;

Hello, is there a current changelog for RR?
    This one:
    looks outdated.
I've noticed that on a previous version, the device switched back to 60hz after a reboot even if you selected 120. This seems to have been fixed with the latest version?

yes viper works u have to flash rssp module (check the poco x3 mods thread) and should be on magisk 21.0 (audio modication library and audio compatibility patch is required after flashing magisk)
Thank you, I finally managed to get V4A to work, without downgrading Magisk or installing RSSP. It works with Magisk 22. Sharing the full method because it's so convoluted, in case others need it too...

Step 1. uninstall RR's AudioFX (using "debloater" module with Termux)

Step 2. Install V4A the "usual way" (install, don't reboot, install "audio modification library" module, don't reboot, open V4A again, install drivers, gives SU, allow reboot)

Step 3. With POCO X3 you need to install "audio compatibility patch" module (process: vol+, vol- ; vol+, vol- ; vol-, vol-)

Step 4: to make it work on latest Magisk, from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...android-fx-2-7.3774651/page-249#post-84121895

Locate and edit file in root /data/adb/modules/ViPER4AndroidFX/post-fs-data.sh
Add this text to the end of the file

magiskpolicy --live 'allow audioserver audioserver_tmpfs file { read write execute }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow audioserver system_file file { execmod }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow mediaserver mediaserver_tmpfs file { read write execute }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow mediaserver system_file file { execmod }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow audioserver unlabeled file { read write execute open getattr }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow hal_audio_default hal_audio_default process { execmem }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow hal_audio_default hal_audio_default_tmpfs file { execute }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow hal_audio_default audio_data_file dir { search }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow app app_data_file file { execute_no_trans }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow mtk_hal_audio mtk_hal_audio_tmpfs file { execute }'

Save, reboot phone. Might need to enable legacy mode.

Advantages of staying on an older Android version...

In fact, newer Androids are getting so locked down (witness the reaction of @topjohnwu to the hardware attestation debacle in Q & R) and complicated from the user POV that I am seriously considering getting a device able to run Android 9 and holding back there...
    1
Clean flashed 8.6.7 yesterday and this rom is just amazing.

No issues what so ever and the amount of customization is insane.
    1
obviously the new features that came with a11 what else 😂
FYI, most custom ROMs (such as this one) already include the best features from newer Android versions. Anything in particular that you're "missing"? There is usually some Magisk module to implement it.

The advantages of staying on an older Android version: 1) more solid/stable; 2) easier to control, as many of the new restrictions have been worked around. In other words, you have a solid system that is yours to do with as you please 😉
    1
can i flash this rom on 12.0.8 firmware or do i need to downgrade to a specific firmware?
    can be installed without downgrading.

If you have a major bug to report that has not been reported already, please take the following steps to report it to us. It will save you, Team Resurrection Remix and me quite some time.

Download the MatLog app from the Play Store.
After downloading the MatLog app, go to the app settings, and change the log level to Debug.
Clear all previous logs and take the exact steps to produce the error you are receiving. As soon as you receive the error (probably a force close), go straight into MatLog and stop the log recording.
Copy and paste the entire log either to Hastebin or Pastebin
Save the log, and copy and paste the link into the thread with a brief description of the error.
