With the new hotfix the notification light bug is gone. So I won't even bother trying to update the firmware for now.

Flashing the ROM replaces the system and vendor "partitions" (files). If you've previously flashed the (modified) unencrypted firmware-vendor pair, you'll most likely have to flash it (or a newer version) again after flashing your ROM, or else there'll be a conflict between your "unencrypted" firmware and your "encrypted" vendor. @jeryll would probably know more about this unencrypted stuff.

For those of us who are encrypted, we can flash the latest (at this time 12.0.8.0 for Surya) firmware, which is simply extracted out of the official MIUI ROM, and so update the non-free/closed-source hardware/device "drivers"/blobs. This is not required if your system works fine, but, like any update, may be beneficial. Though, with closed-sourced stuff from OEMs, it's best not to rush and be an early adopter (guinea pig) 😉

sounds like rocketsience to me :) at LOS you download the file in the updater (TWRP opened it automatically, played it on it, restart - done! why is it (at least for me) so complicated with RR? and before it says: then switch back to lineage - No! I love this ROM ... even if it is complicated; -) !!!

- whatever you download from xiaomifirmwareupdater is not encrypted, encrypted are files (present are and future will be) on your data partition, and it is like that because the ROM you are booting (either MIUI or AOSP) tells to the system - "I want all the files on this data partition to be encrypted" - and the system does that... (unless you block that communication with hacked vendor, or encryption disabler)

- while using inunxelex hacked vendor should be safe to flash only the new firmware file, meaning hacked vendor will be there until overwritten by new/stock vendor (if you for example reflash your phone SW base with full fastboot or recovery version of MIUI)

Thank you. I'll read into it. So you say to flash firmware from xiaomi firmware updater on a decrypted device isn't safe?

Not sure if I understand your question ... i have decrypted device and flashing content from xiaomifirmwareupdater on that device just fine... You asked here this:

What I still don't understand if the firmware in your link is encrypted or not. Does it even matter?

The files downloaded from xiaomiFWupdater aren't encrypted until they are flashed on encrypted data partition, only then they become encrypted.

After flashing them on decrypted storage they stay unencrypted.

I see. Then actually nothing speaks against using those files on Xiaomi Firmware updater. This brings us back to the question why it didn't work for @muschi.muscholino

Is there an option in this Rom to enable full screen gestures like in miui?
And where can I change the strength of text to more fat?

Very very good Rom, by the way. Thanks for this great work:)

in SafetyNet don´t pass ctsProfile, any suggest? btw thanks for u job, i love the ROM and appreciate your job

I use Magisk and its props Editor + the Universal Safety Net Fix module.

The first one allows you to fake a vanilla Poco with stock firmware, the second makes the SafetyNet check pass.

Hi, very nice ROM I'm happy with it but I have a few issues and questions:

#1 I've tried installing Viper4Android, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is there a way to get it working? Is it perhaps a conflict issue with the built-in AudioFX equalizer feature?

#2 I've gotten a notification to update to the latest version via the OTA update feature ; this didn't work, it rebooted to Orange Fox recovery and I got an error message (error installing zip file). Is there a fix for this, or is it better to manually download newer versions and flash manually? I noticed the downloaded file had a slightly different file size.

#3 I'm getting random data/4G connection problems (no network sometimes for like half an hour), while SIM/network is working normally on another phone/MIUI. What could be the issue/any idea on how to fix this? Flashing a different firmware?

Thank you.

Try installing the latest vendor firmware from 12.0.8 MIUI ROM. I have no such issues with 12.0.7 Vendor firmware.

Thanks for your clarification. There is one thing I have to ask.. When the files (firmware) getting encrypted after flashing, why then there are encrypted and decrypted fw available? Based on your clarification I would think it wouldn't matter since it gets encrypted after flashing.

I still feel dumb 😂

I guess the safest way would be, backup data partition, install latest MIUI, then RR and restore data partition. With that, the latest fw and vendor would be installed.

Guys, I read through all posts and corrects me if I'm wrong: I have to install the latest firmware every time I make an update; is that correct?!

If you have a major bug to report that has not been reported already, please take the following steps to report it to us. It will save you, Team Resurrection Remix and me quite some time.

Download the MatLog app from the Play Store.
After downloading the MatLog app, go to the app settings, and change the log level to Debug.
Clear all previous logs and take the exact steps to produce the error you are receiving. As soon as you receive the error (probably a force close), go straight into MatLog and stop the log recording.
Copy and paste the entire log either to Hastebin or Pastebin
Save the log, and copy and paste the link into the thread with a brief description of the error.

Hello, is there a current changelog for RR?
    This one:
    looks outdated.
I've noticed that on a previous version, the device switched back to 60hz after a reboot even if you selected 120. This seems to have been fixed with the latest version?

yes viper works u have to flash rssp module (check the poco x3 mods thread) and should be on magisk 21.0 (audio modication library and audio compatibility patch is required after flashing magisk)
Thank you, I finally managed to get V4A to work, without downgrading Magisk or installing RSSP. It works with Magisk 22. Sharing the full method because it's so convoluted, in case others need it too...

Step 1. uninstall RR's AudioFX (using "debloater" module with Termux)

Step 2. Install V4A the "usual way" (install, don't reboot, install "audio modification library" module, don't reboot, open V4A again, install drivers, gives SU, allow reboot)

Step 3. With POCO X3 you need to install "audio compatibility patch" module (process: vol+, vol- ; vol+, vol- ; vol-, vol-)

Step 4: to make it work on latest Magisk, from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...android-fx-2-7.3774651/page-249#post-84121895

Locate and edit file in root /data/adb/modules/ViPER4AndroidFX/post-fs-data.sh
Add this text to the end of the file

magiskpolicy --live 'allow audioserver audioserver_tmpfs file { read write execute }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow audioserver system_file file { execmod }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow mediaserver mediaserver_tmpfs file { read write execute }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow mediaserver system_file file { execmod }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow audioserver unlabeled file { read write execute open getattr }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow hal_audio_default hal_audio_default process { execmem }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow hal_audio_default hal_audio_default_tmpfs file { execute }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow hal_audio_default audio_data_file dir { search }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow app app_data_file file { execute_no_trans }' magiskpolicy --live 'allow mtk_hal_audio mtk_hal_audio_tmpfs file { execute }'

Save, reboot phone. Might need to enable legacy mode.

Advantages of staying on an older Android version...

In fact, newer Androids are getting so locked down (witness the reaction of @topjohnwu to the hardware attestation debacle in Q & R) and complicated from the user POV that I am seriously considering getting a device able to run Android 9 and holding back there...
    1
Clean flashed 8.6.7 yesterday and this rom is just amazing.

No issues what so ever and the amount of customization is insane.
    1
obviously the new features that came with a11 what else 😂
FYI, most custom ROMs (such as this one) already include the best features from newer Android versions. Anything in particular that you're "missing"? There is usually some Magisk module to implement it.

The advantages of staying on an older Android version: 1) more solid/stable; 2) easier to control, as many of the new restrictions have been worked around. In other words, you have a solid system that is yours to do with as you please 😉
    1
can i flash this rom on 12.0.8 firmware or do i need to downgrade to a specific firmware?
    can be installed without downgrading.
