2. Gcam is working better.
How is the stock provided camera tho? Last time I flashed the camera was so utterly disappointing that I flashed back to MIUI.
And Mine's the Chinese version, what GCam and settings are you using? (screenshots are appreciated) I'd like to use it on the stock ROM as well. '-')/

Stock camera port is not working properly yet it crashes on clicking any picture which require processing like hdr, square mode etc. And Gcam is Arnova's v1.5 ( https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1xdiH43hPBmhNOSavcKUhG5AwJRyAjD_B ) I have attached both apk and config file! Now

1. Install the apk
2.Copy the .xml file to Gcam>configs folder
3. Restore the config! And restart the camera!
And yes it works pretty well on MIUI too!

You can view sample shots in this Gcam Folder

I have installed 10 may build and I am having some issues

yes you must be on v10.2.10 and then
1. boot your phone into fastboot
2. using latest platform tools run this command fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img (inserting gdrive link for vbmeta and twrp builder images. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16JhRjAvx6ZCJSFsMQ8xwF2Vew-TlrCUS?usp=sharing)
3. flash twrp
4. boot into twrp using power and volume + button
5. now format data and then wipe system, Dalvik, cache and data
6. flash Pixel Experience
7. flash Fcrypt Disabler
Reboot your device :)
Thanks for your info. But it still doesn't work. And I found the this rom also includes the vbmeta.img in the zip. I will try the next new version to see whether there is any hope. Thanks you anyway.

My dude it's been very helpful! Just one last thing, where am I supposed to find the Gcam folder? ._.)\
It's located in Internal storage and by default there won't be any folder you have to create it....
So now

1.create folder in internal storage named "Gcam"
2. Create a subfolder in it named "configs"
3. Copy that .xml file and paste it in the config's folder.
And boom!

Note: not everything is working in this gcam, there's only one major bug - slow motion.... For that wait for an update.

Everything I tested so far works well. ROM is running swift and I didn't notice any issue.
Adding a network traffic indicator and a VoLTE indicator on status bar (just like what stock MIUI have) will be much appriciated.
Thanks for your hard work OP.

Btw, what does including DTBO mean? Could someone please tell me what DTBO is and what benefit it has?

Gcam is not bad at all, and from my experience Mi cam on MIUI is worse. The only problem is trying to get Gcam work well is not very simple.
I suggest you try xtreme gcam build for Mi 9 https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Get Mi cam on custom roms by getting ANXcam mod on the 4rum https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7-pro/themes/anxcamera-modded-t3927012
Lineage cam is also good (default when you install PE or Lineage here in the 4rum).
And you also can get google cam from play store, no HDR but still works like a charm with ZSL (zero shutter lag).

So in total you can have 4 cam apps on. None of them works perfectly atm tbh, but hope they can help while we wait for further development

Can i use it on my redmi note 7 (non pro)?
Oh, come on.
They are all "Redmi Note 7" and have similar looks but they are in fact COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
Please DO NOT EVEN TRY flashing a violet ROM on a lavander device.
It will definitely BRICK YOUR PHONE.

A simple way to check whether a ROM suits your device or not is to check its device codename.
Here in this post the ROM is for device codenamed violet, which is Redmi Note 7 Pro, however your device is codenamed lavander. They are different and this ROM cannot run on your device. There are a few exceptions but this time it's just right.

So far this ROM has been really great, smooth, fluid, fast, battery good (haven't fully tested this), i think CAF is really making a difference here.

EDIT: Decided I'm probably just gonna try to get used to the chinese ROM as it's not too hard to get it similar to what a Global version might be (Google apps and stuff, and the camera will still function perfectly).

Recently bought the Note 7 Pro as it was an exceptionally good price for the specs it offered. It should be arriving some time soon but I realised that it wasn't actually a global version and found this ROM being recommended. Have also seen some mention of a global MIUI ROM that disables the ads and stuff but can't find too much about it.

Was just wondering about some stuff that I've seen when reading through the previous pages.
  • Does this ROM not support capturing 48 Megapixel images? That's a pretty massive turn off for me if so as it's one of the main "features" of the phone. Pretty much new to custom ROM stuff so not really sure on the reasoning for this. Also how is it for 4K/1080p60fps video? Is there really no way around the camera limitations?
  • I've seen a lot of mentions of GCam pretty much everywhere but have never really heard of it until now. As far as my research has gone it's considered the best camera app by far and is possible to install on the Note 7 Pro with Pixel Experience, but can be a bit awkward to get working or something?
  • The main concerns I have are that I've seen people saying that the default Chinese ROM is full of ads and doesn't have basic essential stuff like the Google apps. I've had a Huawei previously that had EMUI and I wasn't a fan of it at all (it at least had the Google stuff though) and had to install Nova Launcher but it was pretty good after that.
The phone hasn't actually arrived yet but it should be here within a week or so. I'm in UK and I do know about the phone not supporting band 20 but it isn't really a problem for me personally. Ordered it from Banggood.

Thanks much for your response. I thought that was what's up with that. Someone said a developer is working on Pixel Experience for the Note 7. I just received my Note 7 Global and am going to set it up now. It'll be okay for now. I'm not a heavy duty gamer or anything like that. I'll add Gcam for low light situations and maybe better HDR and to shoot 4k videos, and Opencam for 4k video stabilization and it'll be fine. From the images I've seen comparing Note 7 Global to Note 7 Pro I didn't see much difference and actually preferred some of the Note 7 Global images. Thanks.
Have in mind (and for your future devices) that these two phones have different SoC's, they are completely different devices, their only similarity is the name
