I rebuilt the ROM and am uploading a new version. You may want to hold off for a while. Should be up shortly.

In the meantime can you try to get wifi to work by flashing the modem...
Got the modem to work through Odin, same with TWRP. Thanks for this! Going to give it a spin for a bit. Damn, I had forgotten just how much crap Samsung put on this thing...

Never heard of "FF" before this thread. I didn't use either.

I cleaned up my phone with triangle away(doesn't matter for flash purposes?) Did a full unroot through SuperSU. Rebooted and then turned off the phone, odin'd the full ng2 firmware, booted up, promptly turned it off and used the od2 ota update.zip. no issues. Didn't save any old data or a dirty flash, which is the best way of doing things from my experience. All is good. Played with it for a little while.

@muniz_ri Can you make a version that doesn't update the bootloader? I'm on the MF9 bootloader & NG2 (0x0 Knox) and I would like to continue being MF9.

I will upload overnight a pre-rooted, Odin flashable.tar without the bootloader if you would like to test. This may be the best approach for this device.

You know that you might be stuck in the splash screen for 30 minutes before lollipop finally boots.

Download:
- L720_OD2_Pre-Rooted_Firmware.tar

Instructions:
1. Extract the .tar firmware file from the .rar archive.
2. Pull battery from your device then reinsert and boot into "Download" mode.
3. Uncheck "Auto-Reboot" in Odin and flash the firmware using PDA/AP Slot (depending on your Odin version).
4. Once the flash completes pull the battery again and boot into Recovery, perform a Factory Data Reset then Reboot. Done!

Allow from 5 - 7 minutes for first boot.

you have to join the flashfire community to be able to goto the playstore to download flashfire.

or just use CF AUTO ROOT method, simple as that.

The only problem I have is turning on wifi. I flashed modem from post #2 through odin.

I followed your steps for wifi and it worked!

After flashing the stock recovery and kernel in Odin then flash the modem and try a factory data reset at that point.

Can this tar be used to update a working S4 the same as if you got the OTA?

Almost, it will not update your bootloader to OD2. But from the User perspective it provides a fully functioning OD2 device.
What would be the benefit of updating the boot loader? Going for NG2 to OD2 using the tar you provide should give full functionality without loosing any settings or applications?

Running newer firmware on old bl will sometimes cause security issues like trouble setting lockscreen pswd, etc. That may or may not be the case here, I dont know. Also, I strongly suggest a full wipe as per the instructions after flashing the .tar.

Thank you, this worked great. CF Auto Root worked perfect. Any chance the hotspot hack from 4.4 will work also?

I was able to get everything working on the first try except for the tethering (haven't tried it yet, will though).
Here is what I did:
  1. Booted into TWRP and wiped everything including internal SD
  2. Installed the ROM
  3. Did not boot into ROM after installing, pulled the battery
  4. Put battery back in and booted to download mode. Flashed the modem in Odin
  5. Pulled the battery
  6. Put battery back in and booted to download mode. Flashed the stock kernel in Odin.
  7. Pulled the battery and put it back in to boot normally.

May have been overkill to do it the way I did but it booted in about 5 minutes and everything worked perfectly the first time. No FC and no wifi issues.
Thanks for the ROM muniz :good:
