Hi guys, I have just installed Arrow 12 for the first time, everything seems to be working fine but the contacts are not being imported, I have my google account configured and sync'ed, but the contacts app is not using my account. Is there any bug? or am I missing anything?

You should post that in the ArrowOS 12 thread.
I had no problem with my ArrowOS 12. Google account loaded my contacts just fine. I suggest you to restart the installation process, do a clean flash. This is specially true if you didn't format (in advanced wipe) in TRWP right after flashing the ArrowOS 12. Also make sure you flash the firmware for the latest MIUI 12.5.3.0, before flashing ArrowOS 12.

Oops, you are right I'm in the wrong thread (initially I was going to install 11). For some reason the contacts don't sync, I dont know if this is a general problem right now in Google or it has to do with my installation (I don't have any other device right now to test).

Hey! I had that problem with previous arrow 11 build. It used to happen at status bar for me. I wanna know if that is fixed with this update. Had to switch to PE because of that bug... really want to switch back to arrow 11 latest build if the issue is fixed. Please let me know if you think it is fixed after using for some time.
Hello there!

I've been on the update for just above 24 hours and it hasn't occurred since. I've even put auto rotate on constantly, flipping my phone like an idiot while using the plethora of apps that I often do. I guess this has been solved... I hope. Maybe it's too early to tell, but imo it's a good sign. I also tried playing around the min and max refresh rate to see if it had anything to do with the pink garbo display on the status bar, seems to be okay 100%

I will post again here about this issue if it happens again, and I will do so as soon as.

(I was on Pixel experience 11+, though for some reason the battery life started going bad, though factory reset solved it. Thing is that the battery problem was recurring after a few days to a week that I had to factory reset the phone twice just last month and on the third time it was happening, I found Arrow OS and I'll be pretty much staying on arrow OS. I could not, for the life of me, figure out if it was an app or a setting that gets changed that is blatantly munching away on my battery life. I get at most 9 hours on PE11+ on normal usage, here in arrow I get roughly 10.5 with the same kind of activity.)

I just tried to run the latest update via the built in updater. Now my phone will not start properly, it just shows FASTBOOT on the screen.

Just had something weird happening while using the latest build (31st July, the Gapps build). I was on a WhatsApp call, then the screen went black, and I stopped hearing anything on the speakers. It was frozen for a few seconds, the power button wouldn't react either. Then it finally came back to life after like 6 or more seconds and the call was over. After that, I went to Solid Explorer and I couldn't access the internal storage. The "emulated" folder wasn't accessible. After restarting the phone, I could access it again.
Happens to me all the time. Could you resolve it?

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way I can do this without losing my data on the phone?

No problem. Try dirty flashing manually (which means: flashing without wiping):

  1. Power on your phone into fastboot.

  2. If you haven't already, use "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" tool (or similar) in order to use the fastboot command to flash the TWRP by @brigudav
You can find it here on XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-11-lineageos-official-surya-karna.4202533/post-85793613
Ignore if you already have this.

  3. Boot into TWRP (while phone is off, hold power on + volume up until it vibrates)

  4. While in TWRP, use "install" to flash the zip archive of the latest firmware package for MIUI V12.5.3.0 (Global).
Currently, it's: fw_surya_miui_SURYAGlobal_V12.5.3.0.RJGMIXM_624ada8a33_11.0.zip available through the xiaomifirmwareupdater website.

Press the home button to return to TWRP main menu.
Note: you can use your PC to send zips into your smartphone's "Download" folder while in TWRP.

  5. Also while in TWRP, use "install" to flash the zip archive of the latest official ArrowOS (Gapps version).

  6. You're done, just reboot. If it still doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to format and lose your data.

Hey guys I am coming from MIUI and I want to flash this ROM. So after flashing the TWRP through fastboot can I directly flash the ArrowOS or should I flash the decryption file first and then ArrowOS?

Gboard force closes all the time I try to go into its configuration, I could not "re-install" it via GPlay as it was installed in the system partition, so I have uninstalled it via ADB, but now I still can't install gboard from GPlay, any suggestion?

Does anyone else have a problem with the brightness? I usually use the phone with Auto-Brightness enabled and to me it seems really sensitive. Every slight change of brightness in the room/area I am in will trigger a noticeable brightness change on the display, either going too dark or bright. I have also observed screen flickering.

Has anyone had an issue where any incoming call is displayed as "Unknown"? Even my contacts are displayed like this..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I think it's an issue with VoLTE. If you disable it, it would work.

    Hi, thanks for your reply..

Where can I enable or disable VoLTE? I can see "4G calling"?

Edit: Okay, I disabled that and it seems to have worked! Can I ask, is it just this rom or does VoLTE always do this?

Thank you for helping, I really appreciate it!

It's not a problem with the ROM.

    Hello.

Does anyone have any working TWRP for Surya model ?

I see that the developer Brigudav seems to have given up on developing TWRP for Surya.

    TWRP by Brigudav Official website

So is there any replacement ?

    Thank you very much.
    Update -09
    14
So i haven't been around here for a while, after looking at the recent posts many seem to be confused, blaming and do not understand on migrating to OSS builds. In the final MIUI vendor builds the OTA functionality was blocked in order to prevent users from directly updating to OSS builds as it will be needing a MIUI 11 firmware followed by a clean flash. The same has been notified in our device changelogs. Every step and preventive measures have been taken, there's only much i can do from my side in clearing things up. We have this forum and community in place to help each other out, so lets not be pointing fingers here!

Here again i would like to make it clear with a simple guide on how to migrate onto OSS build!

Note: This update will require a CLEAN FLASH (format data), so please backup everything beforehand.
    • Flash the latest available MIUI 11 firmware. (Region doesn't matter!!)
    • Now flash Arrow Vanilla/Gapps build.
    • FORMAT DATA. (You'll loose all your data!)
    • Reboot.
Beware that the current available recoveries haven't been updated yet to support decryption for OSS builds at this point.
    13
Here are the instructions on how you should flash the new OSS Vendor ROM since most people here are confused:

    - Flash latest TWRP by brigudav
    - Flash Android 11 12.0.7 MIUI firmware
    - Reboot recovery
    - Format Data
    - Reboot recovery
    - Flash ArrowOS

    OPTIONAL:
    - Flash Magisk
    - Flash Gapps (If you're on Vanilla build & If you want custom gapps)

    - Reboot system

    Download link:
    - Firmware: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/surya/stable/V12.0.7.0.RJGEUXM/
    - TWRP: You can find it on 4pda but you need an account. I'm not allowed to share it, so you have to get it yourself.

This firmware is for NFC model as I'm not sure where is A11 firmware for non-NFC model. It can possibly work for non-NFC model, feel free to try.
    10
Mission Impossible in all custom ROMs !

    1. Safetynet check the bootloader status and will automatically fail if magisk is not installed (Magisk Hide ON must be applied for this) !

    2. Furthermore, now you have to install the safetynet-fix module to make your banking apps working !

    3. Finally, you must hide Magisk Manager.apk with a random name too (Magisk Settings)
To everyone, please STOP this misconception about having the need to flash magisk in order to pass safety net. Do read the OP I've clearly mentioned there's no need of a magisk or modules for safety net. Device is certified and passes safety net out of the box without need of any modifications.

By improper usage of magisk and mods you're further complicating and breaking things when they're completely unnecessary which end up causing unrelated issues which you end up calling them rom source bugs ¯\(◉‿◉)/¯

P.S : I'm not against magisk, but when you do prefer using modifications do ask yourself on your needs and if you're able to rectify the issues it might generate. Isolate yourself from magisk or any form of modifications to recheck and confirm the issue before making a bug report.
