LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10.0 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*
*/

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for Lineage OS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to Lineage OS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

Instructions

First time flashing Lineage OS 18.0 your device?

Coming from a SENSE ROM?

Enable all location services: Settings > Location > (all location services) = On
Coming from another ROM?

Download the zip(s).
Install a compatible Recovery
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM (Optional)

#### New build is up!! ####

the build is containing mainly the following:
-august ASB's
-SELinux enforcing
-last Lineage fixes

Enjoy!
Thanks a lot for the new build and keeping my favorite phone truly up to date !!!
I especially appreciate the SELinux enforcing being back.

Just for your information my whishes for future builds 😇:
1. Camera app (built-in) (already reported here)
1a) camera app icon still missing; start up time (by double press on power button as the only way) is still veeery slow >7sec (I just compared with a friend's AICP 13.1 (20190228) installation (on excact same phone model) which is superfast almost 1sec; in current build app also crashing a lot and it seems that there are 2 different instances of camera app started (lockscreen vs. unlocked condition) so these 2 instances possibly interfere and lead to a program crash?!!?🧐🤨

2. Sound issue on signal-messenger: when playing a received voice message and setting the speed to 2x the sound is very "cracky". Also compared this to AICP 13.1 (20190228) installation (on excact same phone model) and there is crystal clear sound playback on 2x speed.

3. built-in updater was not showing the new update for august update (already reported here); can't confirm nor deny for august built since there is obviously no newer built right now ☺️

Anybody experienced similar behaviour in august build?

Nevertheless: GREAT WORK on this rom. Please keep up the amazing work.

ps:
Could you give a brief preview on what's planned to fix/implement for next build 😇?

1 - only occurs after flashing Magisk, after re-downloading another Magisk.zip from official site never occurred again
2- don't use Signal! It's not secure lol (Telegram / Antox / Wire are way better)
3 - Have you tried a clean install? Sometimes some bugs occur when dirty flashing

Hi
everything was working fine. then I decided to encrypt the phone and now its in a Bootloop.
If I try to enter recoverymode, It goes back into the bootloop. Downloadmode is working but I can`t find it with adb devices like before. the Computermanager (win10) finds it but I cant do things with it. got sombody any ideas ? or is the device dead? ITs ok it was a " fun Projekt", I just dont want throw away a device thats savable.

SUCCESS (!) 1st try and great thanks to Claymore1297 for the lineage project.

My Aliexpress HTC ONE M9 with Marshmallow is now purring with lineage-18.1-20210813-UNOFFICIAL-hima.

Hardest/ longest problem was getting TWRP onto the phone first (twrp-3.5.2_9-0-hima) -- but that was moi forgetting all the standard things one has to do to get ADB functional on a fresh WIN 10 x64 machine.

ONE Teeny tiny issue so far: Where is the GPS?

Oh well, maybe it will pop up next update.

No idea about an FM radio -- never use it anyhoo.

Grotty details: Refurbed HTC ONE M9 from Aliexpress with generic rom (no Verizon, etc) Would not OTA update, had Google Gunk, ran sluggish. Came S-OFF and boatloader unlocked. Since I only mess with my phone(s) every 1-2 years had forgotten the drill, OOPS must have proper JRE, must put JRE PATH variable, must figure out command-line fun to get platform-tools, must have HTC drivers to get USB debugging in "download" mode, etc.. etc..

Once TWRP flashed, all the rest was easy.

Flashed Lineage after default TWRP wipe, did not allow it to install its own recovery.

After, flashed NikGapps-core-arm64-11-20200926-signed for Play store.

BTW: tried the ANdroid 7 Verizon RUU flash first but my refurb was not running a VERIZON rom, so -phhtttt!--

I wonder what manner of logging or diagnostic program I should use to poke at the GPS? Also must stick a sim in and see what the "radio" does. Should be a GSM /etc phone.

It is to be the secondary travel phone, the one that keeps my local sim, so that I can reply to SMS 2FA when my accounts get angry that I am not where I should be. Maybe no GPS is good thing?

Many THANKS to all the M9 peeps on XDA for stuff to help puzzle out the upgrade!

SUCCESS (!) 1st try and great thanks to Claymore1297 for the lineage project.

My Aliexpress HTC ONE M9 with Marshmallow is now purring with lineage-18.1-20210813-UNOFFICIAL-hima.

[......]

Urrrr ... A few days later, there were problems:

1) No GPS
2) Contacts would not sync, no matter what, build app or Google Contacts.
3) My sim would not recognize, so (I think) I could not do any diag/ confirming of what GSM bands were available..

Did I use the correct TWRP? I went to the Team Win site and used the [ twrp-3.5.2_9-0-hima ] build because I thought I should get the newest.

Discouraged, I thought I would go to a "STOCK DEVELOPER" Android 7... Little did I know of the different flavors, [Stock_4.30.617.2_Rooted_Deodexed_M9_Minhnewpro] installed, but again, no GPS or sim recognition. Couldn't find any root either.

OK, try Lineage 17 (!) [ lineage-17.1-20200921-UNOFFICIAL-hima ] That worked but no GPS (yet to try the sim. Got lazy and used [ NikGapps-core-arm64-11-20200926-signed ] OOOPS, that didn't work - was for Android 11. Did a dirty over-write with [ NikGapps-core-arm64-10-20210918-signed ] Play store working, apps installable/ update ok.

BUT.. Same problems 1 + 2 (yet to dig my sim out of its other phone.

DO any of what I did raise any doom flags?

Urrrr ... A few days later, there were problems:

DO any of what I did raise any doom flags?

FOUND MY DOOM FLAG:

****UNLOCKED****
htc_himawhl PVT S-OFF
CID-11111111
LK-1.0.0.0000
RADIO-3.00.C1144084060114
OpenDSP-15.6.1.00522.8994_1026
OS-3.41.651.4
Feb 3 2016, 13:49:48(695981)

Fine Aliexpress seller refurbed and de-Sprinted a Sprint 651 type, which can do --apparently-- some GSM/LTE but is mainly a CDMA-ish beast, AKA the "himawhl"

Miracle that Lineage 17 and 18 ran on it (not to mention the random developer Nougat rom)

More digging through the forums suggests I may have pooched my phone, so I am downloading the stock sprint loads and will have to bid farewell to Lineage OS (unless a cheap used GSM HTC later comes my way)

In any case... NICE OS (sigh) (but I need it to phone.)
Regards and thanks...

1 - only occurs after flashing Magisk, after re-downloading another Magisk.zip from official site never occurred again
2- don't use Signal! It's not secure lol (Telegram / Antox / Wire are way better)
3 - Have you tried a clean install? Sometimes some bugs occur when dirty flashing
hey,
ad 1: for me I do not have Magisk installed or used but obviously the built-in camera app icon is not showing up
ad 2: hmm, ok, I thought they were all using the same protocols....could you give a (brief) explanation of why it is not secure
ad 3: I did a clean install with the first 18.1 LOS release and then at first the next OTA update didn't show up, I reported here, then it worked for one update but after that it did not show new updates (also reported)....so I asked what to do and got the answer that a manual update also is working fine (maybe it is in general the same the phone would do in the automated update process anyway(?) which means it is not a dirty flash(?))

Here are some new things I haven't reported here so far. So maybe this is interesting enough (besides all the other reported "anomalies" by me in this 18.1 thread:

a) when the ambient temperature is lower than around 15°Celsius and the battery level is around 20% or lower the phone will shut down suddenly....I experienced this behavior when getting my phone out of my jacket for taking a (quick) photo (after a long time until the phone by double press on power starts up, first reported here) and the ambient temp is "fresh to cold"🥶😉

b) the loudness of the alarm is not "stepless", i.e. the loudness of the alarm is either muted, loud or very very loud. I cannot set to "a little" ....so to say "stepless". the lowest level is even higher than the lowest notification level.....so I wake up every morning by a shocking loudness of my alarm clock.....(maybe this was intended to get me up finally 🤣)

@Claymore1297 : is there any chance to get maybe at least b) fixed in next built🤩?

very likely your battery is old. if you know how to, buy a new one and change it. (ebay, 10-15 € or so) but replacing the battery in this phone is not an easy task und you may easily brake something. Maybe give it to a specialist.

No access to the home folder in latest build - 18.1-20210813-UNOFFICIAL-hima.zip with twrp-3.5.2_9-0-hima.img.
So no downloading files, no taking pictures etc. (Apps crash when trying to access the folder) I experince this with two One M9. (both 4.x firmware)
Clean installs, wiped everything.
No Gapps.
Seems like nobody else has this problem!?

Do you have any source that suggests why Telegram should be better than Signal? Don’t want to discuss this here, as it is off topic, but a simple link would be nice, as it is opposod to everyting I know. Thanks.

1- With stock Rom camera was working? My camera it's not working and the icon doesn't appear.
2- https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android/issues/8974 (it's one example)
3 - Try relock bootloader, REBOOT, unlock again, REBOOT, flash TWRP, REBOOT, flash ROM, REBOOT (some time ago I had to do this to fix bugs that only I had)

Try this recovery ¨https://github.com/CaptainThrowback/android_device_htc_hima/releases¨.
Flash ROM again (wipe everything. if encrypted format data)
If problems persist - Re-lock Bootloader, reboot, unlock bootloader, reboot, (if necessary flash TWRP again) flash LOS without formatting /system and see if happens again

only thing you can broken it's the power/volume flex, you can watch tutorials how to open the phone and you can do it easily

    Hello Claymore,

first of all: Thanks so much for keeping our phone alive and absolutely up to date!

I was so excited to install LOS 18.0 and especially was fully convinced to finally get rid of the very annoying "echo in voice calls"-bug.
I already tested the AICP 16.0 (built 2020-11-15) and it was fixed (as promised ;) (y)) (as already posted here).

So I just installed very very fresh (wiped everything (cache, data, system, yes even the internal storage)) the lineage-18.0-20201206-UNOFFICIAL-hima.zip .

Here it comes: the echo is still there, not fixed !!!!! Oh no ! Do you have any idea what the difference is between aicp and los regarding voice calls? There must be something.
Changing volume still has no effect even when you put the call on speakers.

Everything else works (as far as I have tested for now) perfectly!

I had so much hope in that....could you please 😇 take another look on this echo in voice calls issue and fix it as on aicp.

Again: Thank you so much for your work.
