From the last update I have been also releasing a fastboot package. That is the one ending with -img.zip

Download that.

Now boot to fastboot and type fastboot update <fastboot zip name>
Boot to recovery
Factory reset
Reboot system

From now on this is the recommended way to clean flash a rom. The older method should still work. I'll update the post accordingly soon
I cant flash the fastboot file.
I get the Error "error: failed to load 'C:\Android\DerpFest-11-Official-Beta-guacamole-20210705-0919-img.zip': No error"

I moved the file to other locations but still same error.
I downloaded the file again but still same error.

Do you know kow to fix that ?

As a quick solution i unpacked the fastboot zip and flashed all img files manually.
This seems to work but i couldn't flash dtbo.img, is this fatal ?

I had following log from fastboot:

target reported max download size of 805306368 bytes
sending 'dtb' (24576 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.536s]
writing 'dtb'...
FAILED (remote: (dtb_b) No such partition)
finished. total time: 0.543s

so had to figure out how to get fastboot working, did, but after flash i didn't have the twrp recovery. If i tried flashing it through fastboot it would get stuck at fastboot. The recovery thats on there doesn't let a factory reset, it says has 2 partions choose which one to reset. i selected both and then got a kernal dump screen

Do not use twrp.
Follow the op instructions again. There is a factory reset option in the included recovery. Do it and reboot system

Are you flashing DFe somewhere
Also did you do fastboot update rom.zip
so i am on clean stock oos 11, reboot to bootloader, i download the fastboot sdk and open up command prompt. I type in fastboot update and then drag the img, it says recovery missing and something else, then it takes like 120 seconds to load and then reboots. rebooting to this kernal dump, or recovery, and when click factory reset those are the options

I followed these instructions to the letter coming from a clean fully updated OOS11 and everything worked beautifully.

After the fastboot update, the phone automatically rebooted and was stuck at the boot animation. No problem though, from here I just rebooted the phone into recovery and did the factory reset and everything was good to go. I chose the F2FS option when doing the factory reset/format for the performance boost over EXT2.

These new instructions are much easier to follow and very simple compared to other custom roms on this device. Also, I appreciate that F2FS is easy to enable during setup (since changing to F2FS later would require formatting). Encryption works out-of-the-box and comes enabled by default. No need to mess with GApps since it's included. Good so far!

Thank you!

EDIT: I did make sure to use the latest ADB version via Platform Tools that I got from here: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools

he's just trying to flash magisk I think, but good advice to give still! 😁
Yea but then most people forget to format with included recovery while using twrp lol.
    No...
I used the Derp recovery and method as stated in installation instructions.
    All good now.
I have rooted the phone and look forward to exploring all the rom's features.
    Keep up the good work...
    Nice. Enjoy 👍

    I must be stupid.
How exactly can you sideload with the derp recovery...
once you're booted to recovery, go to apply update, then apply via adb. then on computer type adb sideload <magisk.zip here>

I have set up the phone.
I am used to TWRP recovery.
How do I flash a .zip file like Magisk in this new recovery???
Did you format using twrp? If so format again with the recovery included in the rom

I use version 23, and if that doesn't work, I try Canary and that fixes it most of the time for me. Do you have hide turned on in Magisk settings? If so, maybe try changing prop so it says you're a Google pixel 4 and pick the version Android you're using
