Flash the 2nd one that was released on 08/08 (both of them are 4.8) as there are some fixes for FP and here are the details:
- Fixed fod icon disappear after pressing
- Fixed Spanish language mismatch
- Fixed sometimes Alert Slider not working
- Add back high refresh rate blacklist for some apps
Sorry for s the messages lol. It's odd when I go to it on my phone I can see the new one, but on my computer it is not there. So weird.

Edit: turns out that I'm just an idiot 😂. I swear I thought I refreshed the page a few times but guess I didnt. All is good thanks lol

I think you misunderstood me. I was asking about instructions about the "msmtool" for linux, or if there is even such a thing for linux.
Sorry my bad.
What you are looking for is called Heimdall
However the project is abonded i do not think will work with newer devices...

or look here:

I was using over 5 years ago heimdall for msm unbrick but was supporting mainly Samsung devices...Hope in the future somebody will do a newer multidevice version. The code & more info you can find on github.

Hey all, long time user here but it's been a very long time since I've flashed a custom rom. I understand the process except for one thing.

Format data, will this wipe all of my data regarding downloads such as the twrp installer and rom zip? If so, I'll have to transfer all that plus my backups to my pc then format. Then I can change slots, transfer files over and flash?

If you are coming from a different rom then yes you have to format data. Are you rooted? If so download the app migrate. It makes it really easy to switch roms and keep all of your stuff. I found it when I went on a flashing spree trying out all the custom roms. But if you are not rooted then yes transfer everything over to your computer or to a USB flash drive. It is suggested to install the latest l Oxygen OS (stock rom) onto both slots, a and b, as it makes everything run more smooth. I'm assuming you have a OnePlus.

Yes, I'm using the 8t. I'm rooted on stock OOS. I've already done my current slot backups of data, super, dtbo, efs and boot. I'm ready to flash except for the format data area which after more reading looks like I'll be waiting until I get home from work so I can transfer the files off the phone.

Thanks

You mention Migrate after some reading is it similar or the same to apps like titanium backup or swift backup? I use swift but if migrate seems to be better than I'll consider a switch.

Migrate is different but does the same things like Titanium or Swift. Backup. This is the same scenario like you would ask Apple phone or Android phone are similar or same...Both doing same things on different way.
Me personally using Migrate NG version only. (Non Google)

i updated to 4.8 and i was hoping that would fix my low speakerphone volume. i've tried adjusting volume steps and it's worked in the past but i always feel like my speakerphone volume could be louder. any tips?

If you find a way to boost the volume let me know. Rom runs great but the speaker does seem to be a bit low. Is this something a custom kernel could control, if so I'm curious if any support it for our device.

Can you do that for when you have not touched or open your phone for probably an hr? We don't have much data with 2m 3s screen off

Hmmm i'd say that you need to change to a custom kernel. Probably meteoric kernel or radioactive kernel

What's the prerequisite to install the rom with the rominstaller? just unblocked bootloader? Also, I have the Oneplut 8T with lpddr5 ram, does it matter when using the rominstaller?
No it shouldn't matter. The rominstaller is just a file that automatically runs all of the fastboot commands instead of doing them one by one manually.

The Battery drain is probably caused by the kernel wakelocks. Let the kernel settle first or do this right away. Plug your phone into your pc and make sure that adb is installed. run this adb command without the ' ': 'adb shell cmd package bg-dexopt-job' on terminal. wait until 'success' pops up before you unplug your phone. This forces android to optimize your apps.

Btw, i think the aod schedule is not working. That is displayed even out of time.
And i read from evoX thread that if we change fingerprint color background to yellow, fod will be faster. Will we have an option to change fod background color?
The fingerprint color only needs to be changed on certain custom ROMs in my opinion. Havoc works good as is. EvoX and a few others which do allow the fp background color change seem to work much better when the color is changed to yellow like you mentioned. But a lot of ROMs don't need the color changed, they just seem to work fine with the default color.

    Hope this helps you.
