Introduction
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Is there are boot animation?
And can you grab "last_kmsg" from TWRP after boot failure?

UPDATE: I think I found the reason on kernel sources, will upload another build.
And I suggest you to flash it with latest official TWRP.

The latest build fix the boot issues but it stuck on endless boot animation,
i'm using the latest buikd of TWRP flash from lineage os 16.0.

Hello - no offense ...
first attempt I had chosen download from server in Virginia - however I had downloaded with lineage 16 device, and then server in Virginia was chosen.
Then I tried to install ROM (with size of 450 MB) 5 times and it hanged always at booting ... I guess the downloaded ROM was not somehow complete.
Now I see - that download from UK server has size of 490 MB ? (package 2021/10/07 ... well I re-try now ... have then to frickle micro-SD card into USB-adapter for to save then ROM from desktop to there ...

I report next minutes ...

I've already got it booted! but still some major bugs to be fixed.

Will release next build when I think it's ready.

Yes, as the previous posts said and my thread's issue list, the current build is not bootable, please wait for my next build.

A major progress you already get it booted, hope will see working ROM soon.

Keep up the good work buddy.
Just a thought about memory management ...
It might be too, that RAM of xperia Z is too small for future Kernels of new Android Versions like 11 and 12 ? - so why not an extra partition or folder directly on micro-SD-card like /swap ? This would be quite normal for Linux-like OS - but of course I don't know, how this looks with data security when there would be /swap on micro-SD-card ?

Looks like the 18.1 build stalled for a while. Here is my earlier tryout of 18.1 building:

Using the source from @tarkzim, this image is also SE permissive. Feel free to test it.

Prequisities = Unlocked bootloader and for persistant recovery flash (FOTA) a ROOTED device!

    Recovery of choice:

    TWRP =
READ THIS > TWRP - Recovery
    OR THIS > https://twrp.me/sony/sonyxperiaz.html

You can use "CMD" or "Powershell"
If you want to use Powershell, keep in mind to set the System-variable first,
which must be added under "path" to link "your_directory to_platform-tools**

If you don't have a rooted device, Recovery CAN'T be flashed persistant,(Did you read it above?)
    so just install it once:

    1.Boot device into fastboot mode:

    "C:\path_to_your_platform-tools> fastboot flash boot recovery.img"

    2. then reboot to recovery:

"C:\path_to_your_platform-tools> fastboot reboot recovery" or via softkey's

    3. In recovery, format partitions (as EXT4 or F2FS)
    - /Dalvik Art / Cache
    - /Cache
    - /System
    - /Data*
    - /Internal Storage*

after it's finifshed, just reboot to recovery again (Otherwise /Data maybe could't be remounted)

    * if your previous rom was SELinux encrypted, you have to format these too
/SDCARD (External) will be used for ROM, GAPPS, RECOVERY else stuff so no need to....

    4. Back in recovery -> Wipe again:
    - /Dalvik Art / Cache
    - /Cache

    5. Install "Rom.zip" and get a coffee until its finished

    6. Wipe again:
    - /Dalvik Art / Cache
    - /Cache

    7. Install GAPPS if needed or Magisk (Rename Magisk.APK to Magisk..Zip and flash it for root

    8. Yeah right!, another Wipe ;)
    - /Dalvik Art / Cache
    - /Cache

    Reboot the device and enjoy!
