I don't exactly know what you mean by that but simply try resetting the gboard app.

I can't replicate your issue. No problems here unlocking with fingerprint.

Stupid question, as i have never used my OP5 without magisk - would gcam in PE 11 work without magisk as it is built into the rom?

Want to keep things for that purpose as simpel as possible!

Here's my experience after trying: With nikita non root .xml config it was possible to get frontcamera working. Still wouldn't recommend to use gcam in the rom without magisk as quality is not as good (frontcamera, hdr+, dotfix).
