Not personally.

Usually time to make a clean install if that's happened..I tend to do this every two or three system updates, definitely helps
Clean install also means to delete your internal storage right?. Or hust the data. Cuz I'm wondering how u manage your internal storage, things like pictures and that stuff. They get deleted when performing an clean install right?
Cuz that's the only kinda reason I don't install it because i need to put all that pictures and stuff back on the phone, taking 4-5 hours, though 8 Pro and my PC has USB 3.0

Well seeing as it's Evo X you get unlimited storage on Google photos as photos beloved it's a pixel, so they're all fully backed up ;) (if you use it, you should btw) no restrictions on quality either.

They being said, we can now use TWRP so you could just wipe data + cache.

No need to format the phone anymore..

Well that sounds great, I thought a clean install means erasing the internal storage too. But coming from OOS 11 I guess k need to delete the internal storage as far as I read in some forums...
But does Evo X really give you the unlimited storage option. Having a OneOlus 5T, rocking the Pixel Experience ROM, it was always said, that there will NEVER be this unlimited storage feature, and it will always be a pixel-feature. I never expected anything else...

And somehow I'm not the biggest fan of backing my photos up with the Google Photos App aka giving Google my pictures. But then I guess I shouldn't flash this ROM if I want to "avoid" Google or at least restrict what they do with your phone/data .. But then why do I use Android 🥴

It definitely did before we had twrp,.historically it was always factory wipe of data and cache / dalvic cache.

Without twrp we can't wipe those partitions so formatting with ad-hoc methods was required.

So far as I'm aware, if twrp can wipe then you're golden

But coming from OOS 11 I need to factory reset( or TWRP does it automatically with the ROM installer, didn't read it that attentively.) Because OOS11 and AOSP/CAF are built differently

Battery life set for 10 hours SOT if usage continues like this.

Very nice.

@Jonas2802

Here you go mate.

This was based on OOS but a lot of them should be sufficient for any OS.

Change 5G to 4G
Remove Facebook use web based
Remove Facebook messenger use web based
Remove Twitter use web based
Remove any ad based apps pay for the pro version
Turn off gestures like lift to wake
Change from QHD to FHD (No difference)
Allow auto brightness
Turn off WiFi overnight
Turn all updates to manual not auto (play store)
Remove any so you don't use
Change back up to once a month (WhatsApp)
Turn off location history (Google)
Use titanium to remove any system apps you don't need
Don't allow anonymous usage statistics for any app ever.
Don't allow tracking cookies on any website
Use adaway (root needed)
Don't open web pages in Google app (I use Samsung browser)
Don't use xposed.
If you game you will not get high SOT scores, period.
Don't bother with battery saving apps or monitoring apps.
Streamline your apps, if you don't use it, remove it.
Don't allow WiFi scanning (as in letting other apps use it when it's not on)
Never allow personalised ads.
Never allow notifications from websites
Always decline cookies unless your absolutely have to allow some tracking (common sense prevails here)
Optimise as many apps as possible unless it affects performance.
Don't allow apps to remain open in the notification area.
Change your launcher, my preferred launcher is lawn chair and this did actually burn up some battery when compared to the OnePlus launcher.
Don't use live widgets (yes they look cool, but they annihilate your battery)
Live wallpaper, again very cool, but battery burners.
Again! Don't charge overnight, make a note of your percentage then see what it is in the morning, you shouldn't be losing more than 5% really, if you've done well then it'll be reflected here, the good SOT results will follow.
Turn off live read outs of network speed, RAM usage in the status bar.
Turn off NFC unless in use.
Leave location on in quick settings, the benefits do not outweigh the problems you'll have.

Don't overcharge your phone, IE: overnight
Don't allow your phone to fully deplete the battery.

Whatever anyone says, this does 100% damage batteries, there is no argument here and I won't entertain anyone who says otherwise, Ive seen through real life tests what this results in, bloated, inefficient, possibly dangerous lithium batteries.

Keep your phone out the sun.
Keep it out of extreme cold.
Keep your device clean dust free.

Snapchat, Viber, house party, apps like that tends to use more battery as they don't have great dormancy periods.

Apps like speed test by Ookla tend to have location tracking, similarly they tend to turn themselves on and off when they feel like it, my advice, install test and uninstall.

Allow a couple of battery cycles between tweaking sets, to give you an idea of how much of a difference you've made, takes time but it's worth it.

Use a battery monitoring tool to see what is being used, once you've removed problems, remove it as this will also use battery.

I've just written this from the top of my head so o probably missed some things, the general idea is to keep your device clean and fresh, remove files you don't need any more.

Keep an eye on apps that misbehave or aren't wanted, index your folders so they aren't a mess.

The more good things you do means the more potentially bad apps you can have on your phone, eg if you really need Facebook, you could keep it so long as you clean up other areas of your phone.

Good luck.

Further to the above message, i have in the past knocked off the top clock speeds for all CPU clusters and reduced the small to 300Mhz

And turned off zRAM

Also the GPU to 800 as 900 i haven't found is needed for any application.

If you can run Wii Games on your phone via an emulator (and i can)

What more are you going to throw at it that requires more?

PS2 maybe :D

lol nah, 800Mhz on GPU is fine.

I think once theres a new update for oxygen OS I will do just that mate.
That would be great, thank you 😊
Do you plan to switch to OOS? Or do you want to have the newest underlaying OOS before flashing Evo-X?

I wonder if we still need a underlaying OOS firmware or if we can wipe all partitions (including super/system) before flashing Evo-X 🤔

At this point I've done about 3 dirty updates via system update. So I'd be heading for a clean install anyway.

I have no emulators set up and thanks to @AnierinB Google photos is unlimited, so I don't have a risk really.

I'd always stick with the latest firmware as it could potentially affect more than just the OS iirc it was a requirement in the past for custom ROMs or issues could ensue.

I'd be updating, nuking the OS then going Evo X via twrp..I'll defo make a guide, step by step, hopefully itll cover more than just Evo so others can use it.

Right now Evo had me coveted, I have about 2-3 issues but not deal breakers. Battery also could definitely be improved.

Overall though its a stellar ROM.

Official A12 builds are coming soon, just ironing a few things out. The constant whining and ETA's are rather annoying, so please refrain from doing so and keep in mind my life doesn't revolve around Android.

Before this discussion derails I should probably mention that it has caught my attention.

Just please – pretty double please – don't let the Telegram drama seep into XDA threads. Of course, we feel your pain and we all want something shiny and new (even though it's not always an improvement, as stated above) but it's really important to give our valuable developers the space they need.
...I thought it was an unspoken rule not to ask eta etc...
This is mostly correct. The hairs of seasoned XDA members rise upon reading any "NEW VERSION WHEN?!" comment but there's ETA requesting and there's ETA requesting. A friendly "would there happen to be any new version in the making?" when a thread has been quiet for a while doesn't harm anyone. In the end it's all about respect.

Thank you all, best wishes for 2022 and stay safe!

but could that mean that further A11 dev will likely discontinue given A12 is already live?
Not really, we don't have a 12 firmware so it's a missmatch of 11 with 12s system and other required files, but the base is not 12.

Until it is we won't have a real 12 ROM..

At the moment for me all 12 ROMs aren't fit for purpose as the camera is using AOSP sources.

Wait for the OOS cam to be integrated correctly.

Latest oos is 11.0.10.10 until that's a 12 and you have flashed it, all 12 ROMs are going to be lacking

It's understandable that someone can be mad about that, because they aren't patience, but maintainer has a private life too and now a lot of people are spending time with their families or in other way. They don't have duty to tell for us everything if something happens, because they are maintaining X device/s officially. As @dladz mentioned, they're doing this for free, so equally they may have done nothing at all. Maintainer annouced that at 25th December (2021) will be available builds of Evolution X (snow) for 4 series (6,7,8,9) (that includes variants xT and x Pro) and it's not something easy to make that possible and time for testing couldn't be enough to find all bugs, i don't know. I don't want to offend anyone and don't treat that message as attack or something like that. Please be patient (everyone) (if you aren't patient, you can install unofficial build for OP8/P that lately got update: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-12-0-evolution-x-12-22-2021-unofficial.4368233/page-7)
Have a nice day everyone and happy holidays!

Well said, I agree, plus working on Xmas day? C'mon..I'd pay him not to.

Merry Christmas btw everyone, hope you didn't get a block of coal in a sweaty sock 🎅
