So I finally tried this badboy 😊
Very impressed by the snappiness.
A few questions:
1. How to enable gesture navigation instead of navigation bar?
2. How to enable developer settings? (Couldn't find the tap 5 times option)

"P.S. To those who complained they couldn't find 'double tap to wake' toggle:

So, if you still have a 'no show', that's not the rom, but addon(s) you've installed. Or, you used TWRP to restore data (TWRP is utterly incapable of restoring data without corruption) or a version of Gapps or Xposed or Magisk addons: you should know better which one... "

NO gapps, NO Xposed, NO Magisk addons, NO TWRP, NO visibility of double tap to wake.
Yes of course 👍

Awesome Rom!
@optimumpro I really appreciate your work and want to thank you!

One little thing, that might come handy for others using two sim-cards like me:
QKSMS is able to handle multi-SIM messaging like the original messaging app that comes shipped with oxygen os, but FOSS.

---
Regarding the tap to wake feature:
I can confirm, it is not showing on my phone too.
came from oxygen os open beta 12.
oneplus 8 pro has been stock ever since, first custom rom ever to be installed in this one.
did a full factory reset of the phone.
followed the steps for installation with jaguar recovery (no twrp)
flashed opengapps pico and updated Nov. 3rd build.

Switched from german to english to check, if this has any effect, but still no option to enable it.
I will test again with a clean flash of Nov. 3rd build

Thanks, this works!
One Problem:

My device does not pass safetynet check. I already tried universal magisk safetynet fix 2.1.1 and clearing play services/playstore data.

How Gould i fix this?

Hello and thanks for your work.

Before i attempt to try this rom. Can you tell me is this the same as any other rom i tried? Because only the oos roms felt smooth and i think i tried every rom except yours.

Is there something i forgot or made wrong?

Hey man,

Not sure what you're really looking to hear about this as it's pretty subjective trying to ask "same as any other rom" and "tried every rom except yours". If you're getting bad performance on other linageos roms for OP8P, I'd suggest looking into the issue (logcat and check for errors) and ensuring you're doing a 1:1 comparison.

As for this rom and others, atleast in terms of A11, every rom except OOS has been pretty smooth in my experience. This one, even with some cosmetic issues that are reported, is no different in that assessment. The rom has consistently been pretty performant.

When tackling smoothness, try to define what that means to you. Animations, transitions between apps, gameplay, etc. Then start ruling out possibilities:
- are you getting errors in logcat when performance tanks, but not in oos or another rom
- did you install anything that's different: OOS being stock, no root, etc vs custom with unlocked bootloader, add-ons, etc. Try to paint the same picture in your comparisons.

After that, either invest into the rom by reporting and sticking through it, or move on to another (but again, keep that definition and checks). If the problem is addon based, then you may be missing out on some great roms because you're polluting the water. If it's lineageos related, you should easily be able to find a common variable and find like minded people.

Such as the "missing" things in this rom, there's a common thread and experience, so easy to rule out lineage and focus just on the rom experience. However the metric of "smooth" will wildly bounce around, but almost all lineageos roms on our device has been pretty stellar, this one included. The roms that aren't are pretty easy to spot and normally because a developer has halted work or focusing on a larger release (like a12 or too many other devices).

Hope that helps. If you try and enjoy the rom, give a thumbs up to the dev so they know their work is appreciated.

Thanks for your big answer.

I mainly never tried a different thing compared to oos. No special addons or modifications.
I simply restored some apps with o&o backup but it handling never felt as smooth as in oos based roms.
It felt like im not using the full 120hz or like im going back to my older huawei p30 pro.

Im might trying this rom or any other aosp based rom again and post my logs or i try to describe my experience a little bit better. I cant really explain but everything on oos feels like butter. But i dont like the battery consumption.

Its my first oneplus phone i love the oos rom so far but changed to a rootable phone for a reason :p

Since your bootloader is unlocked, you can try magisk for android 12 + instructions. Search for safetynet on Android 12.

Honestly, I'd suspect a question could be, if you enjoy OOS, why not stick with rooted OOS? Throw in a new kernel, stick with what you already enjoy, etc. Personally I love lineage and aosp over OOS, but that's why I go different roms. I ran for many months though with just a magisk rom (xXx for instance) with alot of enjoyment.

Just my $0.02. hopefully you find something that you enjoy as a daily driver!

Hello!

Nice rom, just installed it a few hours ago.
One thing i can´t get it to work:
NightDisplay
I can tap on "nightdisplay" in settings, then a new (almost white) windows shows up for a little second. On top i can read Jaguar-Settings.
But after that the window gets closed automatically, and i´m back on "Settings-Display".
What´s wrong? How can i fix this?`
-BTW: clean Jaguar rom, Pico-Gapps

whats your preffered rom? I really love the additional features and im a little tester anyway. What would you suggest to try as daily driver? and which kernel do you suggest? Sounds like you test a lot..

I'm currently driving this guy for the past few days after going ShapeShift and another one before that. I'd recommend, if you want to stick with or test out that oos experience, give xXx a go. It's a little outdated but being just a magisk rom, it's not much of an issue as you'll get your normal oos patches.

If you're okay with the current state of this rom (some minor features missing on OP8P, but active development) this guy is pretty damn smooth.

I don't wanna keep polluting this topic (sorry dev) with this off topic discussion, so feel free to pm me. But I'll finalize this message with saying, keep in mind, any custom rom can have their own pros and cons, don't bicker or anything about "missing" things. Post your findings, a log, and make a decision to either stick with it or move on. It's hard enough making a thing that works, even harder to try to fix things without great reproduction steps and logs.

I did this and tried magisk alpha but still no luck... Thats a bummer for me, i need safetynet check passed for my daily driver
There is nothing specific in jaguar, as it relates to safetynet. All tricks that other roms use are in. If you can't pass safetynet on jaguar, you can't pass on other roms.

I have seen a thread on xda with magisk forked by another dev. It works with android 12. There are options to disallow some google apps.

Also, safetynet passing with unlocked bootloader is at the end of life. This rom, unlike any other, allows you to lock bootloader.

I did a clean install with opengapps pico, then relocked Bootloader:
- fastboot oem lock
- deactivate oem unlocking in dev. settings
- factory reset in recovery

reboot now shows custom rom information instead of bootlocker warning

- initial setup (google account)
- Magisk v23 from OP
> Safeteynet fails
>CTS failes

unfortunately, google pay and other apps still recognize this phone as rooted and won't work.
not sure, what i am doing wrong here...

If basic interity pass just use props from module from magisk repo
Basic Integrity: FAIL
CTS: FAIL
evalType: BASIC

so, everything is red flag, only Play Protect doesn't seem to be botherd ...

I think, times of root and using secured apps are over. back to cash, paper covid passes and good old nokia 3210...

Yep I'll do that here shorty for ya.

Tried clicking NightDisplay 4x and each time a new panel with " Jaguar Settings" will appear and then disappear back to the "Display" panel.
All right. This will be fixed in the next release. In the mean time, don't change default screen resolution.

    This is official Jaguar Rom.

I have been building Android roms since 2012 for various devices including multiple Sonys, Lenovo Zuk, Oneplus 3, Oneplus 5 and Oneplus 6. You can check my Oneplus 6 or
Oneplus 6T threads and browse my profile.

Jaguar rom is focused on hardening of AndroidOS and kernel. As such, the rom has hardened bionic, art, framework and tightened security.

1 Rom control with custom Power options, Statusbar, Buttons, Navbar, Quicksettings, Lockscreen, Notifications, Gestures, Themes etc...

    2. Heavily modified Art, Bionic System/Vold and System/Security

    3. Telephony response to Type Zero sms ('silently acknowledged') disabled

    4. Toggle to disable Captive Portal logging.

    5. Speakerphone proximity sensor toggle - could be set to automatically switch to speaker when not at the ear

    6. IMEI and phone numbers hidden in About menu

    7. Built-in encrypted DNS providers, such as: Cloudflare (US); LibreDns (Germany); AdguardDns (Cyprus); and PowerDns (Netherlands)

    8. Wakelock and Alarmblocker

    9. Fully working Call recording with the button visible in Dialer

    10. A choice between the latest Bromite and Vanadium webview

    11. Deskclock app modified to work with PowerOn alarm. The app will boot the phone 2 minutes before scheduled time to trigger the alarm on time

    12. Default Dark mode

    13. All regular customizations plus. You tell me which feature is missing.

    14. Prebuilt Magisk 23. You don't have to flash it, just install the attached Magisk.apk.

Bugs: AOD working, but no info shown on lockscreen (works fine on other Onepluses). Not anymore.

    Install instructions

If this is your first time coming from stock, you need to have stock Android 11 in both slots. So, either update stock OTA to populate the second slot or flash stock rom with TWRP. Do not use Lineage's 'transfer' script, as this might corrupt your persist partition. In addition, that script transfers outdated files.

    1. Install Jaguar recovery from HERE via fastboot: reboot in fastboot and execute the following commands on your connected PC terminal:

    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
    fastboot flash recovery_b recovery img

    Or use TWRP

    2. Download the rom to your PC. Boot the phone into recovery, set recovery for sideloading, then type on your PC terminal (which should be opened in the same directory where you had downloaded the rom):

    Code:
adb sideload 'name of the rom'

    3. Factory reset and reboot. You are done. If you want root, just install Magisk manager (apk) from here as a normal app. Don't flash it.

PICO Gapps has been tested successfully with this rom

    Download rom from post #3

All subsequent release will be in post #3.

The rom could be used on locked bootloader (donate feature) with or without Gapps.

The benefits of LOCKED BOOTLOADER combined with WORKING AVB-2 protection are:

You get your DRM L1 back. Your banking applications (tested several) will work even if Magisk is not hidden: you simply get a warning, your device is rooted, but can click 'don't show again' and proceed to login.

Nobody and nothing can modify Kernel, Recovery and Virtual Partitions without triggering a red screen of death with the message 'your device is corrupted and cannot boot'.

At that point, the only option is to unlock bootloader. But, if a user had previously disabled OEM unlock in Developer settings, then unlocking becomes unavailable, and so does flashing via fastboot. In other words, if your phone gets into the hands of an adversary, their only option is to use MSM tool to make the phone work again, but no access to your data or any other partition.

Why prebuilt Magisk? Because you can't modify kernel or recovery on locked bootloader post installation, and that's exactly what Magisk does.

Dev should really consider dropping support for 8 pro. Clearly just because his device doesn't have the issue he thinks everyone's device should be the same 😂.
Two people have mentioned the same issues and instead of fixing it he's showing screenshots. DFKM.
    I'M DONE
Lol take it easy man, he's just sharing a ROM, theres no obligation here.

As frustrating as it can be to not have working features it's still an "as is" ROM, no need for hostilities.

I haven't personally installed this ROM so no i can't comment on features missing or not but i can on how to address them, there are ways and means to get a point across without sounding deserving of something you aren't.

If you've clean installed and there are missing features then just mention that, if it gets fixed then great if not then that's just the way it is, no ones under any obligation here, speaking down to dev's who've put the hours / days / weeks in to share something for FREE is what makes people leave and not share their work, XDA wouldn't be a very good place to be if dev's didn't do what they do and even worse if they didn't have the support of people who flash their work, please bare that in mind.

P.S. To those who complained they couldn't find 'double tap to wake' toggle:

Earlier, I posted a screenshot that clearly showed the feature. Moreover, just to make sure, I did a clean flash of the latest release, and the feature appears in Settings/Display between 'Lockscreen' and 'Wake on plug'.

So, if you still have a 'no show', that's not the rom, but addon(s) you've installed. Or, you used TWRP to restore data (TWRP is utterly incapable of restoring data without corruption) or a version of Gapps or Xposed or Magisk addons: you should know better which one... .

P.S2.: Don't ask for Android 12. Google prefers to publish undercooked releases, which don't become stable for at least 4-5 months, and Android 12 is no exception. So, when S is stable, Jaguar 12 will be posted. ETA - January-February 2022.
