ok thank you for sharing your experience with me. If it was too difficult for me, I might have decided not to use microg revived but my installation went very smoothly and so far it runs well too. Also, it would be nice for me if google play purchases would work (I havent tried) but even if they dont I'm ok with that. I use Aurora store. which has not been updated in a while but I normally do not install paid google apps and rarely need in app purchases.I am using already the ROM since beginning of the year and it's great!
I have the "Full" version, so GApps was already included.
On another device I used MicroG Revived (Magisk Module) a couple of days. I got it to work with a lot of workaround. Here the whole story:

I the end didnt linke the solution.
Soon I will setup a OP 8 device. Most probably I will use the vanilla version and use systemless GApps as Magisk module. For Android 11 there should be three alternatives, see here:

I have been using microg for many years now. I always try to expel or exile any and everything google from my device and yes i understand android IS a google product. lol
