For anyone wondering why the TWRP recovery is overwritten by Lineage's recovery here's how to avoid that:

During the first boot of Lineage make sure to leave unchecked this option:

View attachment 5499593

If you check it Lineage will overwrite TWRP with its own recovery at every boot.

If you checked this option at boot, follow this video (obviously you have to reflash TWRP after disabling this option):

I knew it!
I had a small hunch that, that option was causing those issues.
Though ngl, Custom Lineage OS ROMs don't get updates in the OS, so it would be a bit odd to allow it to update the recovery with the OS anyways..
Apparently I don't pay attention enough, and yet will still end up at the same conclusion for the wrong reasons. xD

Yeah, I Really feel you haha

I did some searches on youtube to see if someone made a tutorial on how to install this rom. Just look at this one:

At 6:06 he says to mark that option for "future updates" without really reading what this option does.
Then at the end (at 16:00), he seems surprised that the recovery changed not knowing why xd

Well friends, always take a good look at what you have in front of you! 😆

if anyone can help me that would be great. I have a sm-g530w, everytime i try to install this rom or others like lineage 17.1 or 15 using twrp, i find that it doesnt work and just boots back into the recovery mode. I dont think there is any compatibility issues and by reading other posts i think the problem is my twrp version is too old. The version i have is 3.1.1-1. Ive seen links to https://msm8916.com/ that say you can download a more updated version of twrp that is compatible but everytime i try to go to that website it says that the website is unreachable. does anyone have a link to a later version of twrp or know how to solve this problem. thanks alot

website fixed itself and now it works

Let me guess, disabling navbar? Also, any tips for better performance? I want to switch from slim 7 for better UI.

Any news on LOS 19?
Yep 😊

The performance is what it is, you can't achieve much more unfortunately with Android 11 on a grand prime : (

Regarding Android 12, at the moment I'm still putting the final touches on the (probably last?) v6 18.1 release. I'll update you all if I can do something interesting.

V6stable for lineage-18.1 is out now!

This release comes with months of lineageOS' fixes + a new feature: you can now disable navbar within lineageOS without the property workaround! For details, check the next post.

This release adds to the supported devices the fortunaltedx variant (with gprimeltexx's blobs temporarily)! Let me know how it is!

Release name: V6stable

For anyone wondering how to remove/enable the navbar here's the guide (new simple method):

FIRST BOOT OPTION
:

Screenshot_20220120-143928_Setup_Wizardmod.png

During the first boot, in the "LineageOS features" screen, you can now select what type of navigation you want to use. Note that hardware keys cannot be disabled and they will always work regardless the chosen navigation type (that's a plus for me).

POST - FIRST BOOT OPTION:

Screenshot_20220120-144027_LineageOS_SettingsMOD.png

In case you want to enable/disable the soft navigation bar, there's a new section in the system's Settings under the System -> Buttons page to do this. By enabling that option, the gestures menu (under System -> Gestures page) will be enabled in the Settings to change the soft navbar type.

doesn't let me, i can use adb while in recovery and on my other phones but it wont let me logcat during boot
Then you need to find out why. It can be a kernel issue, or maybe it can be on the lineageos side. Experiment with the config files

maybe it will work for yall, my phone is a piece of crap.
i would test it but my grand prime's touch died

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restores the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    ROM project Info:
This lineage-18.1 project comes with a SafetyNet fix that isn't part of the official AOSP code.

This is my little gift for the xda community! This is the work of months trying & building a decent rom for gprime. If you want to help, try things and tell me what doesn't work by filling the bug-report template down there! Thank you :)

++ you can also try my Q release here !++

I don't plan to release often for other models as I don't own a server to build multiple variants but only my PC with limited hdd capacity to compile this rom.

    Reporting bugs:
    • DO NOT report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or if you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.
    • Fill the following report template:
    Code:
Build date/Release version you downloaded/installed (the name of the .zip file):
    Device variant you are using:
    Gapps version (if using):

    Did you--
    wipe:
    restore with titanium backup:
    reboot after having the issue:

    Are you using--
    a task killer:
    a non-stock kernel:
    other modifications:

Provide any additional information (observations/frequency of problem/last version it worked on/etc) as needed:

@Gabboxl You can fix the overheating issue by introducing Simple Thermal Driver by Sultan XDA. You can see the commits in my Lineage-17.1 Kernel.
