My /data was encrypted and after installing the latest OTA update my phone went into the dreaded bootloop. No problems here, I run my phone as ephemeral so formatting /data isn't a big issue. TWRP can't mount the /data partition, but it can format it, which got me out of the bootloop and booting correctly.

My only issue is now future OTA updates will possibly lead to the same issue when the recovery can't mount the /data partition. To avoid this, I tried installing OrangeFox and PBRP, as suggested by @joeyhuab, but for some weird reason I can't seem to make either boot correctly. If I revert to TWRP 3.5.2_9-0, I can boot into the recovery, but I have no way of mounting /data and thus, most likely, no way of OTA updating without having to nuke the partition every time.

Does anyone have a fix for this?
me too , have you repaired it ? thanks

@joeyhuab Appreciation post here as i see many people with problems since last update.
Thanks for the good work ! I use your rom since more than a year and i appreciate it. You doing great with so many features you put in it. Top notch customization, and that's what i like !

Yes my phone was stuck in bootloop, with all my data gone in the last update.
Yes i was angry at this. But this is the game of custom rom.
You always find a way to fix it. It even make you learn through it. If you synchronize your data to cloud via Google accounts, and so on, you don't lost a lot.

If you don't know how to fix "classic boot problems" you'll always find guide on youtube, xda, or the telegram group. I'm not a developper, i don't have any clue of how it work, but i know what files do what things.

For now i'm on the last update, i'll wait for the other update, i'm ready to lose my data again if it's necessary to fix the data mount partition in the future rom.

Keep up the good work Joey !

I also went into the same problem as any others.
So I ask you, as I got some very important stuff (photos) on my internal storage:
I read some ppl installed an older version of EvolutionX and were able to decrypt their data again.
Which EvolutionX Version did you choose and how did you install?

For you guys, you'll need to format data to get it to mount again. Not just wipe data. I suggest backing an entire backup of internal storage and placing it on a PC or USB OTG.

How to do it exactly. I'm in twrp and can't mount any of those partitions. With adb shell I'm on the phone.
I could backup all blocks /dev/block/sda1-29
is it possible to copy the internal storage partiiton to pc and decrypt it?

For now, if you cannot mount /data and other partitions, please flash:

- Naveen Johnson's PBRP

- His unofficial OFOX

So that all partitions would mount properly. This is important for encrypted users having issues with partition mounting.

My apologies for the inconvenience caused by switching device trees. Didn't realize it could possibly affect encrypted users as I've been unencrypted from the start.
Since I can't flash either file by using pc
Will replacing recovery by adb side load help?

use this Recovery
save it to your PC, then on recovery mode on your phone format the data to f2fs then reboot to recovery, check if you can mount data now, then enable MTP to transfer the recovery zip above from your PC to your phone the then flash it

this is what I've done to fix mount issue on recovery (I have no USB OTG)

I tried to install 0210609 version via adb sideload but after it, it's not possible to boot

OrangeFox install zip via adb sideload is also possible I can access the data folder but each subfolder has cryptic names. Any idea how/where I can enter my pin now?

If anyone is wondering:

For Google Location History, I clean installed Evolution X 4.7, used it for a day, then dirty flashed to the latest Evolution X (as of this post 5.7) and got location history to work. Spoofing Pixel 5 for Google Images backup also works.
Could you please share the 4.7 ROM please? There are several people in the telegram group looking for the rom including myself. It has already been removed from SF and nobody seems to help... Thank you!

There has been talks around telegram regarding users being able to fix their L1 widevine status by using a ROM with updated vendor blobs from the latest MIUI CN beta release. In accordance to this, I felt obliged to provide an update that works alongside the said fix as I've updated our OSS vendor blobs as well. Other important changes can be found below. Hope this helps some users retain their L1 widevine status after having L3 for so long.

Went through quite a few steps from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-evolution-x-06-21-2021.4179163/post-85241343

to finally get the storage visible in both orange fox and system. Had to enable 'DFE' in Orange fox even though the instructions don't mention this and I didn't want to disable encryption.

After setup I attempted to 'Encrypt Phone' but this seemed to result in a crash and then failure to boot to system - having to wipe again.

Edit: if I don't enable dfe from Orange fox the phone is encrypted, however I do not get prompted to decrypt in Orange fox, thus can't see any data. It complains about not being able to find the crypto footer in /data.

Therefore all flashing needs to be done using an external PC and tool. Perhaps I should have stayed with twrp given I want/need to use encryption.
I managed to boot with encryption, this is what I did based on the tutorial I read from telegram group.

    1. Flash OrangeFox R11.1_2 beta.
    2. (optional) Backup your data.
    3. Wipe /system, /cache, /data, dalvik cache, and /vendor.
    4. Go to settings, manage partition, select data, and format data.
    5. (optional) If you want F2FS filesystem, select cache partition, change fs, then pick F2FS option. Do the same for data partition.
    6. Reboot recovery.
    7. Flash latest MIUI 12 vendor (QFKMIXM, QFKEUXM, or QFKINXM).
    8. Without wiping anything, flash latest Evolution-X (don't worry, it'll replace your /vendor partition anyway).
    9. Boot into system.
    10. First boot maybe look like it's stuck in splash screen, just wait for about ~5 mins.

It may or may not boot, your experience may vary. I do not know how to consistently boot to /system with encryption enabled. One time when trying, I managed to boot but I couldn't get back to recovery but instead stuck in fastboot. If that happened to you, you could boot to latest official twrp by using fastboot command, then wipe internal storage, restarting all over again.

Probably the most anticipated update has arrived.

OK Google hotword detection finally works again while on lockscreen or while screen is off. Along with that, issues with audio on other apps should no longer be an issue as well. The issue with Live wallpapers crashing SystemUI repeatedly has been fixed. It was related to the theming options added in the previous build, specifically the SysUI color options which have now been removed. A MIUI-style volume panel option has been added. QS tint styles have been revamped and now you can choose from 4 options (default, accent color, OOS and Android 12). Navbar/LS/Ambient pulse has been removed indefinitely due to breaking the ROM for devices with hardware keys. Lockscreen charging info has also been removed for providing inaccurate estimates. Other changes below! Enjoy!
