I don't understand. How can it work on CherishOS and not on AncientOS. Can't the same libraries be used?
And why are there so many builds and none are getting maintained. Can't you guys just group and make a single OS? There are so many and each with his own bugs, nobody maintaining them, I mean nobody wants to try every single one and just pray that it works... I just want a clean AOSP that works and it is updated regularly at least with the security patches.

there has been active nonstop development - its just in our groups and not on XDA, we try keep stable builds to XDA.

We had a major issue getting BT working because QTI BT stack is required for our device and most roms do not have it right now. ancient has said they will only implement it when LOS does, and that's going to take a while. till then my hands are tied, AOSP BT stack audio does not work on our device, audio is dead. so im either forced to release a build without BT or wait till they add it. i tried patching it myself but im not that experienced.

cherish was nice enough to add it as per my request, but the only rom right now with those libraries is pixel experience, which we have on our group available right now.

as such, i can only push cherish builds with BT working. and they have similar amounts of customization anyway. there is also not much left to maintain on A11 besides security patches now, which ill still do from time to time.

Thanks for the detailed response. I understand now what is the problem. I guess I will have to wait a while or try the cherish or pixel experience. Hope for an official ROM to get released though. Thanks!

no problem. though i should note don't think unofficial means no updates. i have been updating cherish here since release. i maintain both ancient and cherish regularly, just A11 isn't seeing much updates cause there isn't much to update now between all A11 roms, devs have all shifted to getting A12 stable.

Ancient A11 builds will be discontinued as it is regarded as "stable", thread will stay open for support and links will stay posted.

i will continue to update A12 builds.

    Ensure that T-Virus is flashed and that you already have a working TWRP recovery working before proceeding with this build, do NOT attempt to flash this with TWRP while you are on stock ROM as it may hard brick your device, you have been warned!
    if you need assistance in flashing T-virus do not hesitate to join our telegram group.

    Clean Flash:
    1. Take a full backup of both your data and internal storage as they will need to be wiped
    2. Download the ROM from above link
    3. Download TWRP recovery installer from above link
    4. flash the twrp recovery installer in TWRP and reboot to recovery, please do not use older TWRP versions.
    5. Flash the ROM zip in the TWRP provided and then flash recovery-installer.zip again.
    6. Reboot to recovery from the reboot menu in recovery
    7. Format Userdata from TWRP using the format data option
    8. Install Google apps [optional], and any other mods you wish to have
    9. reboot to system and enjoy!

    Installing an OTA (Dirty flash):
    1. Download the updated ROM zip and take a full backup of internal storage, just in case.
    2. in TWRP flash the updated ROM zip and recovery-installer.zip then reboot to recovery
    3. Flash Gapps again if you had previously installed it
    4. Wipe dalvik cache
    5. Reboot to system and enjoy!

    [known bugs list]
    - Offline charging animation does not work
    - Loudspeaker is loud and may create some echo in calls
    - Bluetooth APTX/LDAC is broken, but SBC works fine
    - sometimes decryption fails in TWRP for OTA and it requires data format (hopefully solved soon)

    I'm working on making Android 12 stable enough for daily use. Right now it's 90% perfect, as bluetooth and some minor encryption hurdles remain to be fixed (the encryption is mostly fixed though). My priority if fixing the encryption bug though and making OTA's work properly (which should be possible after a new firmware update).

    I'm working on a new update that updates the entire common blob stack from Android 10 DDV to the new Android 11 update for 7.2. The fact that the update was released so late is beneficial for us because it means that the blobs have a quite recent CAF tag (it's only 3 weeks old by this point). All the configs/dependencies and libs will be updated as well so this is a pretty major upgrade. For it to work I also built custom display/media/audio HALs specifically for our device which are based on pure CAF, and more specifically on AOSPA (https://github.com/AOSPA/android_hardware_qcom_display/tree/ruby-8998) because the new blobs are so up-to-date that we can't use the older LOS HALs.

    A12 currently has issues with bluetooth, however I have suspicions as to what the fix might be. Aside from that A12 is very promising so far.

    About camera quality, @rashazad, I haven't had any issues with the latest release of AncientOS 11 though. The camera takes pictures fine and I have been using GCAM just fine for the past few days during my trip abroad to take pictures of sights, etc. So unless you provide logs, specific description of the issue, when it happens and some test pictures to show me the loss of quality then I don't know if I can be of any help.
