I'm not sure if you can do it without pc. I do know that you can wirelessly transmit ADB commands , however i suggest you look into it and test if it works. I don't recommend doing this without a pc. PC is more reliable so try to do it that way or try to get hold of a laptop if possible.
If you have a recovery installed use "advanced reboot" to reboot into recovery and then use "install from sdcard".
I had a new restart, this time when taking a photo in GCAM, and when the photo was being "processed" by the Camera app, my phone restarted and didn't save the photo.

I currently use the latest version from BSG (8.4) but 8.1 is also good. Slow mo works (4x and 8x) there's no 960fps option or 48Mpx. 4K30 or 1080p60 video works (this phone doesn't support 4K60). As for config, something/anything from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gcam-ports-discussion.4259817/page-4
Ohk sorry my badThe fact that the ROM is AOSP doesn't mean that it will work with TWRP. The developers made the rom to work with its own recovery not anything else. Otherwise they wouldn't need to specify to use a specific recovery.
With that being said if you do need a custom recovery, try installing the ROM with PixelOS recovery first ( as instructed by the Devs), then install whatever recovery you want. I won't guarantee that it would work , but you can give it a try.
If PixelOS recovery has the option to install from sdcrard (it should be there) then it should work. I don't have it installed right now but nothing stops you from rebooting into recovery and checking whether such option exists.
