Thanks man. I was able to resolve it by flashing the recommended firmware from the install instruction. All is smooth when dialing.

One more question found, to check if anyone encounter the same issue here:
REC: 3.6.2_12-RedmiK40_v3.8.3_A12-alioth-skkk_4f7299ea being used
Successfully decrypted when previous crDroid v8.7, not quite sure the exact version, supposed to be 20220715, with pattern enabled, not quite sure about the fingerprint.
But when trying to upgrade to the new version 20220902, from 20220805, found it failed to encrypt the SDcard, if try to decrypt from advance, only password provided, pattern is not available, then tried again with only pattern, fingerprint removed, the same status.
crDroid v8.7 20220805 with NikGapps-Core & Magisk installed, no DFE installed.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

If it is applicable to do dirty flash? Without any screen lock?

AFAIK yes, but please backup your files just in case i am wrong!

Is disabling matlog safe? I don't like that it's running in background and sipping power especially when my phone is connected online. It seems this rom has some kind of background mining app that's active when the device is connected via wifi or mobile data.

disabling matlog will lead to freezing. This rom is really doing something in background that's causing all this ruckus (i,e. freeze upon boot-up, battery drain, single core stuck at 3ghz, heating etc.)

Do you have any proof of all that you are commenting on? The solution is very simple, if you distrust you can change rom.

matlog disabled months ago, no issues whatsoever

The mining app theory is very interesting nevertheless, please elaborate

well, I didn't have any of this issues and I've used this rom from may to September, and always disabled matlog. I think you should give a try without gapps and root first, and with different firmwares before incriminating the rom,

It's being worked on. crDroid source needs to be accomodated for A13 before the devs can incorporate their device trees, so it might take some time, especially for a ROM with as many customization options as this one.
