I had upgraded on AT&T to MJ5 and only then ran the regionLockAway, that I love seems to work with I9. Could I flash the older ROM and then run regionLockAway? Then go back to MJ5?

Maybe a bad download. Have not heard anyone else having a problem. But will do some testing. What build are you using. Odex or deodex.

you can get close to stock. there may be a problem with trying to update from it. i have removed some knox stuff and added some things like busybox. you can use safestrap. you should be ok to flash stock or rom slot, but as always there is risks. i have had no problems doing both.

If I'm rooted on SM-900A using kingo root, can I flash one of these images? And is it possible to flash one of these images on a completely stock phone to root it?

If you flash a rooted ROM you'll be rooted. If you flash an unrooted ROM (and a stock ROM is unrooted), you'll still have to root.

Kingo is a lot easier than flashing a ROM is all you want to accomplish is rooting. Flash a ROM if it's different than the ROM you're running, and you want those differences. (If you're at NB4, use Kingo 1.5 or earlier, the latest one (1.6, IIRC) won't do NB4.)
