Try using just fastboot update (Drag and drop the file).

So I downloaded the Normal ZIP (one without -img.zip) and tried to adb sideload in recovery. Worked for me.
If its not working then try a older version like 2.6.

Hotdog User here, Was facing the exact same error :I have a problem installing the rom, following instructions from the first post.
After extracting super_empty.img my device reboots to the orange fastbootd and I'm getting an error:

Tried sideload with the recovery.
Following error :
E: Current SPL : 2022-05-05 Target SPL : 2022-03-05 this is considered a downgrade
E: Denying OTA because it's SPLdowngrade.
However the file downloaded and sideloaded was KOSP-2.7-hotdogb-user-OFFICIAL-GAPPS-20220503-0502.zip

There is a qs tile which you can use.My display defaults to 60Hz. There seems to be no option to enable 90Hz. Could someone help me with this?
