Hi,
After a week of use.Vanilla version with Nikgapps Basic
WiFi stable 2.4 as well as 5 ghz - no problems.
Gcam no problem:
front and back camera, photos, videos, saving, etc OK,
Only problem with previewing photo
NFC - OK,
GPS - OK.
Bluetooth - OK.
Fingerprint reader - ok better than stock
Battery - similar to stock - in my case +/- 3 days.
Noticed bugs:
Problem with App Locker.
Restoring app locked application causes soft reboot - system reboots without restarting the phone.
MTP tranfer worse than on Stock. It is strange, that phone in recovery mode is detected as Nokia 8, and booted to system as: HMD_Global_MSM8998. MTP works better under recovery than under system. Until yesterday my phone ( on debian 11) was showing USB ID as RAZR keyboard ;)
With Build 20200320 MTP works better than with previous build.
Update to 20200320 from previous version went without any problem.
I see that You change the launcher and add some icons. Thank you.
regards. P.
Thanks for your report, ill comment as follows:

- MTP is using identical libs to stock, it shouldnt make any difference.
the app locker bug is noted, thank you i reported to ancient

the USB ID shows as razor? lol.. sounds like something in the system, you using lsusb to check?

thanks, lol ive never heard of that issue, but everything looks rather normal :) i think the MTP is just coincedence, we haven't changed anything to do with MTP since early android 11 builds.

anyhow glad all else is fine besides applocker :)) i unfortunately can't confirm currently, my NB1 is dead, but i have reported as mentioned.

you can always feel free to send me a log on our support group if you up to it.

thanks

I have a hong kong version nokia8, model: TA-1052, which supports dual sim cards. If I install Ancient ROM, will both sim cards work properly? Or does the ROM only support single sim card?

Hello, I have the same version TA1052, dual sim, although I don't use the second sim. If you look in this same thread, a few posts above the same developer says that the data in the second sim already works as well (I imagine that at first it didn't work but that it was remedied in the latest updates of the rom). Greetings!

the dual sim bugs have been fixed, and everything should work well with dual sim models :) you can try. our other users confirmed it works now.

Hello! My phone is still running the original ROM. The developer tools already had the OEM unlocking option enabled (see attached picture).
How can I make sure I have everything ready to install T-Virus and not brick my phone?
I have already checked the guide on https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/nokia-8-nb1-full-rom-installation-guide.4349525/

It is written that I need to have my phone unlocked and critically unlocked, how can I verify that?

Also, does this ROM include smart charging (stop charging when it reaches a certain percentage)?

Many thanks in advance!

all you have to do is check fastboot oem info, or fastboot getvar all, to see the status of the unlocked bootloader. i apologize that i don't check here often, if you need any assistance however feel free to join our support group, i am happy to assist.

it won't include smart charging no. that is a device side feature we simply don't have

FYI at all, im sorry for the slow updates. ancient has not yet really updated sources in some time, due to one of the members being in an accident.

when they update, i will push an update. my other rom is seeing updates rapidly in comparison, it is out of my hands.

once ancient pushes 12.1, i will push an update.

OK, thank you very much for letting us know, the truth is that after updating from version 5.7 to 6.2 some time has passed and seeing how often CherishOS is updated I started to worry and even consider changing to Cherish but in this case I'll wait. I wish the colleague with the accident to get better as soon as possible. Thanks for everything!

    - selinux enforcing

    downloads.png

    ROM: https://ancientrom.xyz/?i=1#/downloads

    Recoveries (choose which you like):
    TWRP:
    Orangefox: Skyhawk:
The Zip installer is used for easier access when flashing roms, the img is there in case you have forgotten to flash the zip and have lost recovery.
    installation.png

Ensure that T-Virus is flashed and that you already have a working TWRP recovery working before proceeding with this build, do NOT attempt to flash this with TWRP while you are on stock ROM as it may hard brick your device, you have been warned!
if you need assistance in flashing T-virus do not hesitate to join our telegram group.

    Clean Flash:

    1. Take a full backup of both your data and internal storage as it may be wiped.

    2. Download the ROM from above link and flash the recovery zip

    3. boot into recovery and either remove rom pin or wipe internal to have it accessible to copy rom zip over (due to the decryption bug) or just use external sd card to flash.

    4. flash the rom zip and recovery zip again right after the rom zip before rebooting, it will reboot you to recovery automatically in other slot.

    5. Flash Gapps of your choosing [if vanilla build] and any mods you may want

    6. run factory reset from recovery, or wipe /data and /dalvik if you don't want internal wiped.

    7. reboot to system and enjoy!

(flashing Atomix zip is only needed if you flash the .img to fix hotspot, but not with the zip)

    Installing an OTA (Dirty flash):

    1. Download the ROM from above link

    2. flash the rom zip and recovery zip and let it reboot into recovery.

    3. wipe Dalvik cache only

    4. install Gapps, and any mods you had previously flashed.

    5. reboot to system and enjoy!

(flashing Atomix zip is only needed if you flash the .img to fix hotspot, but not with the zip)

    [known bugs list]
    - TWRP recovery does not decrypt internal storage with a pin set, this is TWRP's fault, but does not affect OTAs, cancel when prompted for pin it will say its incorrect.
    - Loudspeaker is loud and creates some echo in calls
    - gyro sensor creates a drift in some games (unconfirmed)
    - requires flashing atomix zip for WPA2 hotspot to work (attached)
    - you tell me

Hello. By any chance did you replace the screen yourself? Did you buy the screen online? I'd like to know because I have to replace mine as well.
Yeah, exactly. Smashed it about three years ago. Back then a repair was too expensive. But now I got a new Nokia branded screen on eBay for 35€. Replacement was not hard. Just needed to blow-dry often enough to soften the glue. My only issue were the many broken glass parts so I couldn't remove the screen as a whole. Let me know in PM if you want more info as this is a little off topic here.

sadly, mine just went into sudden death last week as well. i had to order but i got here locally, mine cost about 47$ shipping included, you can pick them up on aliexpress for a bit cheaper if your willing to go through the wait, since NB1 is my only device i couldn't wait months for mine. but as @ekcenraw mentioned as well ebay is a good option.
