Oh yes, I forgot that the unlocked bootloader will not get any updates from att.

Okay, I will try the bare naked now. Is it unrooted if I dont flash supersu with it? I want to keep the phone unrooted as far as possible.
no this is my only unrooted rom aside from the Full roms

This rom was left like this intentionally because stripping everything out breaks some of the settings in the Rom

it's in the First post
Data Traffic management is their, Notification Settings is their, Visual Voicemail and a couple other things that were requested from the Bare Naked thread are all in their ..Enjoy!

Yes! The only way you get rooted is to flash SuperSU or equivalent.

I can't guarantee you that the Bare Naked rom is not pre rooted
the instructions were written when all the roms required flashing SuperSU to even boot

This all changed with B160 so the rom may or may not be pre rooted I really don't remember

Do you want me to try it? As long as there is no risk of bricking.... :)

Sure most that will happen is you'll need to flash SuperSU

Okay, I did not try the bare naked rom yet, but this stock stripped rom is not truly unrooted it seems.

The safetynet check failed. Is there a way to go back to stock b160…? If not, then I'll just flash the bare naked and then flash magisk over it.

Does the ROM install SuperSU? You could try installing SuperSU to root, then use SuperSU to unroot and see if SafetyNet check passes. Just some thoughts :) .

No SuperSU came with this rom. It's supposed to be stock unrooted.

But since it's not, I'll try the bare naked and install magisk on that.

Edit: Something seems to be wrong with my data partition. When I booted in twrp to install the bare naked rom, the data partition was not getting selected for mounting. I had to format it and then I was able to mount it. Is this expected behavior?

Not sure

I know Pokemon go and Mario go both run fine on the stripped stock ROM on my phone

That was the point in posting an unrooted rom

Did you try the games or just the Saftynet test?

I had just tried the safetynet test and it was failing. Somehow my data partition was also not getting mounted in TWRP, I had to format it each time before mounting.

BUT NOW. I have got a bigger problem. I know I just screwed it by my ignorance.

Since the data partition was giving issues, I thought okay I will just restore the entire backup which I had sent you, the B160 stock and everything will be back to normal. And now my phone seems bricked, it just gets to the warning screen (Your device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted) and nothing moves after that.. I tried connecting it to the pc and the adb is not recognizing the phone..

Anyway to save it now?

EDIT: After trying many times, the phone booted into TWRP, but before I could do anything, its just shut off again.. Now that I am trying the button combination again, the TWRP banner shows up for a moment sometimes and then it just shuts down..

Edit 2: After the twrp flashes for a moment and phone shuts down , if I plug it in, it shows the charging screen but not getting detected in the pc. Weird..

Edit 3: Cant replicate the above behavior every time, sometimes after TWRP screen the phone shuts down, else it just bootloops.

im sure theres drivers listed in main post. if it still doesnt work try different cable or different port. if that dont work after trying to installing the drivers. im here for remote support by using teamviewer if u or anyone needs me to help.
The drivers are already installed, I installed them just a few weeks back and did not changed the setup after that. Since it's just in a bootloop, is not getting detected. When the phone booted in twrp once, it got detected in the computer but then it just got into the boot loop again....

Gotta leave it tonight, will try after work tomorrow.. will contact you for help then, really appreciate your help..

Okay. Your post made me get back to the computer to try this.

Good news, the phone is entering in fastboot mode (message says Phone unlocked, FRP unlocked). Ans the device manager identifies it as Android Bootloader Interface.

Bad news, I tried the following command -

C:\adb>fastboot boot H1611.TWRP.New.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.278s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 1.310s

Also tried the following -

fastboot flash recovery H1611.TWRP.New.img
target reported max download size of 266338304 bytes
sending 'recovery' (40670 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.297s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.938s]
finished. total time: 2.234s

It does the same thing again, TWRP screen flashes real quick and then it goes back in bootloop..

Is there a way to flash the stock recovery to get out of the bootloop?

Since I am able to get in Fastboot but TWRP is still not loading, I am planning to do the following with the TWRP backup I have of the stock rom.

Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated.

Rename boot.emmc.win to boot.img
Rename system_image.emmc.win to system_image.img

Then run the following commands -

fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system_image.img

Does it looks right?
