How do i get Magisk installed properly? I have the Magisk app on my phone but it wont update and root checker says root is not properly installed. What have i missed?
Copy the ROM's boot.img file to your phone. On the Magisk main page, click to install (the first install you see) and choose to patch a boot file. Select the one you copied to your phone. Connect your phone to your PC and copy the patched boot image to your PC. Put your phone in fastboot (download) mode and flash the patched boot.img file to the boot partition. Just boot your phone up. Magisk should show up as installed.

Or simply sideload the magisk apk in recovery. I know that's not the suggested way but its patching your boot.img automatically.

With your phone connected to your PC in download mode, launch a command window and enter:

fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img

Just flashed. Its smooth, good and snappy. So, Gcam wouldn't work with this ROM, any rec for good camera app? the preinstall camera sucks.
Also the display always revert to srgb everytime I changed wallpaper which is kinda bland and kinda less colorful. I still get the persistent USB debug notification despite clean install.

I use the Xperiance: camera Magisk module. It's the Sony camera. Give it a try!

So i still dont have Magisk fully installed. I went looking for a boot.img for LOS 19.1 but dont find it. But what i do want to add to the list of bugs or problems is one i noticed in LOS 18.1 already that seems to have carried on in LOS 19.1 and that is the sound. There is no clean stereo sound.

The bottom speaker works fine,it has decent volume. In stereo mode this is right channel. The problem is the top/left channel speaker.if you go to the accessibility menu and then sound controls and move the slider around while playing any stereo test on YouTube, you will notice the left channel volume is low.

When moving the slider to right channel all works fine, volume gets less on left channel and no output when slider is fully right. But when moving the slider to fully left side, volume gets less and both left and right speakers play when fully left at lower volume. Can someone please look in to a fix for this?

please manually update/install 19.1 recovery first
I tried that here as well (xperia xz2, same error "E: Package is for product Akari but expected H8296"). So:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot lineage-19.1-20220622-recovery-akari.img
fastboot reboot
which booted until "Sony" appeared on the center of the display, and then nothing else happened. So I tried to boot into recovery (Volume Down + Power), but the display keeps being blank after that and the phone is neither detected by adb nor fastboot. Rebooting into fastboot (Volume Up + connect USB) lets me flash the 18.1 recovery image from 20220615, after which I can boot into lineageos 18.1 again.
Any ideas?
(I only have a linux laptop here, so no Windows driver issues obviously)

Don't do fastboot reboot. This will boot up system but you have to boot into recovery directly. Just unplug the usb cable after fastboot flash, wait for the blue led to turn off und then directly boot into recovery.

So... 1000 times thank you!
While the speed was slow enough to drive me nuts ;) I'm finally up to lineageos 19.1.
Thanks again for the great and fast(!) help!

Display color: That's known and I can't tell if that's intended or a bug since I didn't had time to investigate yet.
USB debugging: Yes, that's because remains untouched, even on a clean flash. If you want to disable it, do so by disabling it in developer settings or by running an adb command (if you don't want to activate developer settings): https://stackoverflow.com/questions...n-off-debug-mode-using-adb-command-in-android

    1. Yes
    2. Please refer to the upgrade guide. Everything except upgrading to 19.1 recovery (due to a change) is described there: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/akari/upgrade (and no you don't have to install stock 10 because you've done that already for 18.1)

Many thanks for your quick answer!
It worked really smoothly after upgrading to the 19.1 recovery.
    1
one option is to upgrade to los 19.1
in the firmware archive, the path META-INF / COM / ANDROID is looking for the metadata file, copying from the archive and changing it, you can open the file with the help of the total commander and change the bottom line pre-device = H8266, H8296, H8216, akari, akari_dual, save and transfer to the same place in the archive with the replacement of the old one. Make a data save.
reboot into recovery and do formatting further gaps reboot system.
Or just upgrade recovery to 19.1...

Hi @dtrunk90 . I saw that tama phones were promoted to official 19.1. Can you say it'll be possible to update from unofficial to official without formatting?
    > A full data wipe is needed if you are coming from something other than an official build of LineageOS.

@dtrunk now that there is an official build available, can you please provide a step by step guide on how to correctly update to Lineage 19.1 coming from Lineage 18.1. I have already downloaded all required files to update to 19.1 and would appreciate a step by step of how to update. Is it possible at all via Lineage Recovery?
    dirty flash:
    1. make a backup of all of your data
    2. update lineage recovery (fastboot flash boot command like described in the official install instructions)
    3. install 19.1 in new lineage recovery

    clean flash:
    1. make a backup of all of your data
    2. please refer to the official installation instructions

    Additionally: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/akari/upgrade
    3
    Official builds are now available!

In order to switch from unofficial to official builds a clean flash is required. Please refer to the official installation guide on how to clean flash properly.

EDIT: And please don't forget to update recovery as well. Otherwise you'll notice an error message when trying to install 19.1.

Could you make sony stock camera work on this rom without magisk access. Many thanks . The rom work flawlesslly but camera quality so bad
Yeah I'm still trying to get the camera working and it's easier for me while developing to use a magisk module. But once and if everything is running I'll provide a flashable zip.

EDIT: The magisk module on gitlab was only a quickwin to get a newer version of the sony camera working but I'm already working on the same version which was on stock.
