Hi guys! Right now i am running lineage 19.1 and its really nice but its not as smooth as i would like and that's why my pixel c is always in the drawer.
How is this rom performance compared with lineage 19.1? Should i flash it? Thanks in advance.

For many, many reasons, you should only run official magisk which is only found on John Wu's github: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/

The only reason that I made that comment is because a few pages back somebody posted a link to another random magisk build that is a modified branch of the original. Rooting in itself puts your device at some minor security risk, but installing random magisk apk's from unreliable sources takes that risk to a whole other level. Of course, there may be very specific reasons for running a modified version and that is up to y'all.

In regards to backup, I just let google do its thang and restore apps after a clean flash.
@heyChristo,

By any chance, could you attach the working driver you're using for the Pixel C...that works with FastBoot?

Everything works perfect with ADB, but for FastBoot Windows 10 doesn't recognize the driver installed.

I've been scavenger hunting for it 😅

Thank you!

It was on xda that I found the original instructions, but the driver for this device is goofy, and you will have to reinstall it everytime you try to boot the device from fastboot, (at least from my experience). You can try this page here and I although these instructions are outdated, I would suggest these steps are valid: 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12.

You will manually have to look up the generic android driver in the scroll down list. Make sure you have the drivers from the latest android sdk, not any generic drivers.

Uninstall any other generic drivers you may have installed, or phone drivers from other OEM. My phone is a one plus, and I had quite the learning curve to fix their driver incompatibility issue with old drivers carried over from old versions. Now I only use the SDK driver from google. Strangely enough, I can flash magisk via fastboot but my pixel never shows up via usb to do file transfers, etc. It did when I originally got it but it has been many rom versions that my usb transfer has not worked. FYI, you have to be in fastboot to enable the driver and not in the rom. Every time you reboot the device, it changes the driver state and you will have to reinstall it. Perhaps there is a better way, but I don't flash this device often enough to have figured it out.

I will uploaded the usb mtp driver to my google now.

For USB file transfer: Download the driver on my google drive, restart computer, smash the F8 key before windows loads, choose advanced startup, choose Disable Driver Signature Enforcement, right click start menu, go to device manager, right click on the device with warning mark (Pixel C), install driver by pointing to the file I provided.

For fastboot: Install adb/fastboot drivers. This one is easy: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...vers-15-seconds-adb-installer-v1-4-3.2588979/ (Check on the last pages of the thread)

First time changing to fastboot mode you need right click start menu, go to device manager, while the pixel is in fastboot click on the device with warning mark, right click, choose driver, choose driver from list, select fastboot/bootloader. After this windows will always switch between adb/fastboot correctly.

okay I am gonna do it. Where can i find the recommended gapps? And magisk or not magisk recommended? Thanks again
Link to MindTheGapps is in the first post. I use Magisk and it works just fine, YMMV

For me, the only thing that isn't working right is the "Google Bar" light on the back is always on , and no longer responds to double taps for battery status. Not a huge loss,m it's a gimmick anyway :)

@michie,

- Will a dirty flash work for this or should I do a brand new install?

- Do you think with this version I'll be able to install apps/games from the app store? I had issues with 12 saying that the OS was an unsupported version?

Thank you!

BJ
I originally did a dirty flash and thought all was well, but then I had issues with the Play Store. Had to do a clean flash to fix

You can also try this way, worked fine for me:
I flashed los 19.1 and pico Gapps using Bugjaeger app from playstore on my OnePlus Nord 2. Works well. No need of pc to unlock bootloader and flash TWRP and rom and Gapps. Used this because my old PC didn't recognize pixel c in bootloader modus. Made connection between OnePlus and pixel c through USB c to c cable.

Now I'm on Arrow 13. Much faster and more stable compared to LOS

@michie @heyChristo and Everyone,

Thank you so much for your help, you guys are absolute LEGENDS!

After taking the time to read everything a few times and fully understand the whole process, I'm happy to report that I'm up and running!

That includes USB and FastBoot drivers working correctly, my new Magisk-patched boot.img, Zygisk enabled, SafetyNet fix, a new props config and Banking apps working as well as Pokemon Go!!

Magisk has changed so much since last using it and it took some getting used to, but I think I understand it now.

I'm currently spoofing the device's props config as a Google Pixel 6 Pro...but I'm wondering if there's a better device that I should be spoofing as?

New build up!

- Updated CPU firmware to Shield 9.0.0
- Updated GPU firmware to Shield 9.0.0
- Updated xusb firmware to Shield 9.0.0
- Fixed Led bar behaviour: Made my own variation to have a dimmed lightbar when screen is on so it does not disturb in dark rooms and turns off at screen off.

Also cleaned our device tree.

thank you very much for all the work and bringing life back to our pixels c.
What next changes are you planning to bring? Do you think it will be possible to bring back 2k youtube or fullhd netflix?
What are the pros of that shield 9.0.0 firmware?
Thank you again

That is very unfortunate (for us, on Arrow) but I fully understand that you also probably have limited time to dedicate to these projects! After all, we all have to pay the bills! 😉

So, since I'm not necessarily pro one ROM versus another, I have to ask: do you foresee Lineage's will (or already is) perform well as Arrow does? The main reason I moved to Arrow was because of it's speed compared to other offerings. Knowing at Lineage will now get your full attention (and magic touch), just wondering if I should jump ship as well! 🙂

I'm using all my optimizations on Lineage as well so the system runs just as smooth and you will have alot more customization options.

The only difference right now is boot time. After the first boot and signing in to your google account, every reboot seems tot take some time at the end of the boot animation.

Not really a big issue but it annoys me lol. Could be some lineage bug. From a user perspective this shouldnt really matter.

Please do let me know if you feel any difference in performance because if there is, I will certainly keep providing Arrow builds one way or another.

Guys, Followmsi asked me to take over the lineage builds. Unfortunatly I don't have enough space on my disk to maintain more than 1 rom. Each one is about 400Gb.

Arrow is faster to release a major Android version so it's possible that it will be the first Android 14 build before stable LineageOS 21.

For now I have to drop ArrowOS, sorry for any inconvenience :)

    works pretty great - thanks

    the keyboard pairing is odd.
    1. works at first then stops working
    2. rebooted
    3. removed device
    4. somehow it paired itself again and popped up the pin and now it is all good...
WiFi is only 2.4GHz - 100mbps is fast enough I suppose - had to look up the password as only device that uses that is the printer :p

seems to be very smooth, no more glitching showing ads while playing games :)

cheers again, hopefully can get camera working - be good for Meets :)

Check your 5g wireless channels! Might be using an EU pixel C and need to change the wifi country code to US, EU pixel C is set to eu wifi so won't work with some 5g channels out of the box

Do you need more storage? I have oodles of disks laying around I could ship you if you're in the US, or I'm sure we can scrape some dough together if you need an upgrade :) 2TB SSDs are even pretty cheap lately. (Obviously whatever is best for you)

I've put alot of work and time in our device tree to clean and upgrade everything I can which makes it easier to port future android versions. Will check if I can make it treble compatible too.

The firmware itself wont make much difference without decent kernel drivers supporting it but let's see what I can do with our old kernel.

With spoofing we might be able to bring back widevine but let's do one step at a time 😁

My dad bought a 2022 mid range tablet. Feels way more sluggish compared to the pixel now 😎
