Did you reboot to recovery after flashing ROM? You must reboot to recovery and check that you are on the right slot before installing Gapps, otherwise, you'll end up with a bootloop.

Yes I did. I followed all the steps. What do you mean for right slot? If the rom is flashed in A then Do I have to reboot in slot A and flash Gapps there?

actually recovery starts in the correct slot after installation. Then install GAPPS

No. When rebooting to recovery after flashing ROM, it will switch to the new slot on which the ROM has been flashed to (If you were on slot A before flashing then you have to be on slot B to be able to flash Gapps etc and vice versa).

Yes, the same thing happened to me, I dirty flashed the update on the stock recovery of CrDroid and ended up being in the boot loop, the same thing happened for the last update as well. I have to wipe and clean the install from zero, the updater app does not work, and it gets stuck at initializing, any steps for a seamless update in the future without having to wipe the whole phone?

Sorry for the late reply, just letting you know all went smoothly using orangefox-alioth R11.1_1_A12 recovery. Dirty flashed with gapps+magisk, decyption went fine. No issues

How do I enable the SWIPE UP gesture for navigation? Its supposed to go home or show recents. The back gesture works fine. Im using Nova Launcher not sure if that matters. I also noticed my recents button doesnt work even when I use button navigation

Have you disabled/frozen the stock launcher? May affect things

what is the recommended gapps? im pretty sure Nik gapps was causiing a conflict with the pixel launcher it adds
