Fyi, I did a stupid thing, don't do the same, I updated with OTA but I had flashed DFE with previous installation and after OTA install I got the encrypted data problem, I tried new recoveries to decrypt and the password I had did not work.
The format data did not work but after wiping internal storage it worked, obviously I lost my data but I wasn't using the phone as main so no problem for me.
Now I did flashed latest rom and gapps without dfe and everything works. Do you think OTA works if you don't flash DFE?

yes, I updated my rom with OTA without DFE, everything seems good. Recovery is lastest OrangeFox.

That's the main reason why I dropped DFE.
DFE should be removed from instructions here!!!

Why is this one based on old firmware? Why isn't this one also based on Retrofit?

Change the recovery and just flash it is ok, it's looks like worked！(from pe)

even the pixel retrofit has firmware 12.5.6 already inside and does not require separate installation.

Hmm...maybe it helps to reset Wifi settings? Settings --> System --> Options to reset --> then reset wifi settings

But i don't know if it helps. But itÄs worth a try i guess.

Hello. I tried the ROM on my Mi9 ... Works good so far except that I am unable to register a finger with the fingerprint reader. it will start reading it, then stop working and then continue again till I get to the point where I am supposed to put on the fingertip. It will read it one time and when I put it the second time on the sensors it will always tell me that there has been a timeout while registering the finger. Does not matter which finger I use. Anyone else stumbled across this or has an idea?

I don't understand DFE. I installed this with the Mi9 now unencrypted. I always thought it had to be like this in order for the ROM to be updated. I use OrangeFox for recovery. Sorry if the question is stupid, but a lot of people don't know that. Can't find a good explanation either.

Regarding DFE, in the past was needed, but now the TWRP / OrangeFox / Pixel Recovery can handle the encryption, so no need to install it.
But if you do, if you installed, on every update, OTA, or manually you will have to install DFE again.

So, in my opinion, install the rom without DFE.
Delete DFE from your computer

I was able to fix the fingerprint. I don't know the root cause but I assume something went wrong while updating firmware in prep for crDroid (went from gobal rom MIUI 12 via chinese MIUI 12.5). I reverted to MIUI 12.5 and used CIT menu, to validate FOD was not working properly. After resetting FOD multiple times and running FOD calibration and rebooting the phone afterwards it suddenly started to work again. I could then install crDroid again and FOD is now working fine.

this rom looks very promising. I was able to install FDroid privileged extension and aurora store privileged extension and microG. Everything works fine so far. I hope it will get updates for a decent timespan.

I fully agree @Jakob18

No need to install DFE anymore. On the contrary, it causes more problems than it helps.

So if I were you, I would start all over again. So install the latest version of OFOX (you already have it anyway), format data, then install ROM and Gapps (and Magisk) and off you go.

Regarding Google Assistant. I think it's due to the core version you used. To be honest, I'm not a fan of this version either. I always use the full version. Why? Because you can easily adjust the config and thus the packages that you want to have installed and don't have to install any packages later.

If you want to try this:

- as I said, you download the full package
- extract the nikgapps.config (located in the folder afzc/nikgapps.config)
- important now: set use_zip_config to 1 --> use_zip_config=1
- now you can select the packages you want with "0" (do not install) or "1" (install).
- for the assistant it is important to leave GoogleSearch, Velvet and assistant on "1".

Now copy the nikgapps.config back into the .zip and overwrite the existing ones. Then you have a working Nikgapps with all the packages you want.
