Then side-loaded the latest Xiaomi A12 OTA for China in the recovery, cleared cache, internal storage, and formatted data. Finally side-loaded the latest custom ROM A13 OTA in the recovery, cleared cache, internal storage, and formatted data. Rebooted to the system.

The same here. On A13 the memory always ran out while running apps that consumed MB of memory. The system itself took up too much runtime memory.

after testing this rom is quite stable, with several things to improve like changing theme colors (not working) everything else works fine as far.

This ROM is very smooth. After 1st boot things are a bit laggy but becomes ok after things settle down. I have no problem with theme colors. Thanks a lot.

I'm after installation and the rom works fine, but I noticed that after turning on battery saver, it "disconnects" all applications from the internet, e.g. Messenger, Google Play Store. Everything goes back to normal when battery saver is turned off. Anyone have this problem too and fixed it somehow?

Attach your Xiaomi account to Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Settings > Bootloader Unlock Status, then wait for 7 days (7 * 24 hours) and unlock the bootloader via https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html.
