Can someone please guide me on rooting this rom?

I downloaded the latest magisk manager and magisk zip but when i try to install via manager and twrp, it says unsupported.
The method I used is quite simple:
1. Extract boot.img from rom zip
2. Install magisk manager apk
3. Open magisk and press install magisk (the first one)
4. Do not tick the "patch vbmeta" checkbox and press next
5. Select patch a file and select the boot.img previously extracted
6. The patched boot.img as been saved in the download folder, now you have to flash it as "Boot" with TWRP or Fastboot.
7. Done.

Why? You can just boot a working TWRP and flash the magisk apk (rename to magisk.zip if needed). You can sideload it if you have issues with encryption.

Hello, I did the installation from scratch with a version from the beginning of December; and no OTA warning has jumped out, and entering the menu to check, it did not notify me of any new version either. Then I saw that there was a 26, and I installed it. And when I entered the mobile I saw that all the "google" part did not work, I had to reinstall the Gapss again... very strange.

1) There is no OTA warning/automatic mechanism at the moment.
2) You have to flash gapps again each time you flash the OTA zip. The same for magisk. It is the easier way to make sure that everything works as expected, even if some gapps package claim to 'survive' OTA installations.

Hello. Has anyone managed to get PixelLauncher to work? I come from a PixelExperience 12.1 installation, formatted everything and installed latest aosp version first (aosp13_dumpling-ota-user-20221226).
Tried with NikGapps basic and full then installed NikGapps Addon for PixelLauncher. Also tried older aosp version aosp13_dumpling-ota-user-20221217 and latest LiteGapps micro that already contains PixelLauncher.

PixelLauncher crashes from time to time and swipe up from home does not work. Will attach the logcat containing the errors when I try to swipe up.

It appears to be an issue with december security patches and android 13. From what I know, all roms have the issue.
Probably gapps need to be updated by Nikgapps/LiteGapps.

Hello, there is a problem from the last update of December 17. I have lowered the last "Nikgappps" gapps today 29, and gives problems ... for example I use Google Messages and Google phone ... and for both it is impossible to put the "Google Services" permits, and give error When installing "gboard" applications, "clock", ...

In addition the calls by WiFi fail constantly and I cannot return to the version of the first of December ... I will have to do a clean installation of that old version

There is no version of the ROM from December first.
Anyway, not sure of how you flashed the gapps. Did you flashed them before first boot?

Hi, did you just flashed Aosp and gapps after factory reset? I'm on pixel experience 12.1 too and I m not sure about the process. I'm rooted and unlock bootloader.
Thanks!

I've been romhopping during the holiday, looking for a prettier rom or just something different. I ended up having to charge twice a day and wierdly some clock skewing. So I came back to AOSP. The phone stays much cooler and battery drainage has been significantly improved.
Although I don't use it that much, I just wish there was Gcam solution, the built-in camera is fine though.

GCam should work fine, I'm not using it but there should be apks or magisk modules for it.
