I tried the smart pixels feature and it was good for battery saving, but my fingerprint stopped working. Is this expected?
Yes, the answer was two pages ago, I gess as the pixels located above the FP sensor aren't fully lit, the FP sensor is not calibrated for this configuration
I was looking for a solution to this problem for two days when I found that three processor cores at once consume 2600mhz for a long time and the phone heats up. I started to figure out which app was using so many resources, and I managed to figure out that it was a pixel launcher. As soon as I kill the application, the charge stops. I was not able to find out at what moments this starts to happen, but after switching to a random microsoft launcher, the charge consumption stopped.
but I also noticed that some other programs might behave the same way. for example, immediately after a reboot, when watching youtube, I see that my cores are running at a frequency of 500 - 700mhz, but sometimes at a random moment at the end of the day I see that it is already 700-1700-2600 changing every two seconds. I was not able to find out which processes can be so harmful.
it's not clear to me:
1) why do I need to make a backup, because I made wipe data. What exactly is there to backup? everything is already erased.
2) With what program do you need to make a backup? I made a backup using Google Drive is that what you mean?
3) why go back to the old firmware to make a backup?
4) Where can I download the official recommended DFE, and what is it? Before the firmware, it seems that I had DFE because I saw the message "unable to encrypt, encript not supported" (I don’t remember exactly how it was written).
5) how exactly to produce a clean firmware? is there a step by step guide to transition from brick with bootloop?
I was banned in the telegram group when I came with a newly formed brick and started asking.
Is it possible to remove the ban so that I can keep my finger on the pulse before the next update leading to a brick due to lack of knowledge and experience? in Telegram account name like here.

I have updated to the last build but after the update the phones gets in to a bootloop and enters the recovery mode. I have wiped the davlik/caches and the issue still persists.
Should wipe all the data and install the ROM ?
I have downloaded the ROM via OTA. Where is the update stored in the memory ? What's the path ?

Last time I'll be saying this. It's not my fault nor my responsibility to keep reminding everyone to keep backups of your device. You're on a custom ROM. The disclaimer in the OP states that YOU are doing this to your device on your own free will so ANY ISSUES you may encounter are your responsibility.
If you can't even concern yourself with backing up your device first before updating or doing any other thing, then I won't provide any support for you.
Backup everything in your internal storage and you'll need either a clean flash or format data.
Just don't update if you it hassles you too much. I'm done trying to support lazy users.Is there any chance to update to the latest build without wiping all the data

Kind of a bug, yet not sure how it works.
Evolution "smart pixels" option breaks fingerprint. With this option enabled both setup and read fingerprint becomes almost impossible. Just a notice.

Okay you give me no choice. I'm disabling smart pixels again and make another update. Sick of hearing this. It shouldn't even be available in the first place.

The smart pixels fingerprint thing was clarified on page 64. That's only two pages back and happened right after the latest ROM release. I wish more people would make an effort to CTRL+F or search the thread.
Can't blame ya. I know it's been suggested in the past, but maybe some knowledgeable user(s) (not you!) could create a wiki and keep it updated for (too) frequently asked questions like this one, but the cynic in me thinks people would find a way of ignoring that also.
Man, as much as I want to keep everything intact, some users just don't read at all. There's already a disclaimer underneath the Smart Pixels toggle. I just wish users could understand why not all features can be used alongside each other.
leave smart pixels alone. no need to disable features. just write to the list of known issues. I read all changelogs like many here. it would be great if it appeared on the official website link to wiki, for instructions on common problems. We also need a place where we can vote. the developer's irritation will go away, and we will again be able to receive responses from him, and not caustic behavior and passive aggression. I respect your work.
See the problem here is you're installing custom ROMs without the full knowledge about them. That's why you're having issues.
1. You make backups BEFORE each updates so that you can restore it if anything goes wrong.
2. You either use TWRP/OrangeFox recovery to fully backup the whole ROM. Apps are available as well to backup only apps and nothing else.
3. Well obviously you can't make a backup if your current build doesn't even boot up.
4. It is available via Google search or searching through the previous pages of the thread.
5. There's already a guide in the first post.
Clearly there's a misalignment here regarding knowledge about custom ROMs. You're even calling it firmware when the ACTUAL firmware is different from the ROM.
Yeah ota updates are fine to use for encrypted users.Formatted, flashed latest official twrp and rom but then forgot to flash DFE and only realised after I set all my apps back up
Gonna just stay encrypted and update with sideload/OTG. Also are the OTA updates fine to use?

the whole point is that I used a translator from Russian, and missed the correctness of the terms before sending. actually I understand the difference between ROM and firmware. The firmware needs to be rolled only once.thanks for taking the time to answer. it became a little clear what you meant by recommending the use of backups. I just wanted to make sure it's not something specific, like adb commands

We did a community test in this thread. F2FS was around 20-30% faster than EXT4. While that's nice, I don't think it's worth it to reset your phone to do it, not like you're doing that many data operations on your phone. But if you plan on clean flashing you might as well go for F2FS. -

19The final update for January is out! FM radio is back, FOD flickers have been fixed, screen off FOD unlock has been improved. Regarding FOD unlock, it no longer times out when the device is sleeping, so screen-off unlocking is more accurate/responsive. Those are the most significant changes for this one. 1. MIUI camera isn't even supposed to be included in the first place but was added due to demand. Any issues that come along with it, including issues with instantaneous access via lockscreen, will be ignored.
2. Emergency dialer issues? How can I honestly debug that without alerting our own emergency hotline? Do I just have to guess or any plans on actually sending logs?
3. Issue trackers never work as users never include complete information on their issues, let alone any logs for us to check.
Like I said, my issue is with new users in general and not a single issue. I'm the ROM developer, not just a maintainer for this device. I'm not focused on eliminating issues from this device alone, but for all Evolution X devices in general as well as devices I maintain (Mi 11 and Mi A1).
Just because I'm most active here, doesn't mean I'll address every single thing, especially if all the info is either available within the previous pages or in the main post. It's annoying having to repeat everything over and over again.
Before anyone forgets, THIS IS A HOBBY. I'm being paid by NO ONE to fix all the issues users mention here in this thread.
