I tried crdroid 5.0 on android 9.0 but it failed.Guys, this remains an excellent ROM but you might want to try out the (much) newer crDroid. Switched to O8.1 a few weeks ago and it's freakin' amazing -- makes this phone like a new device.
Of course if the OEM-style interface is preferred, NM! (But it doesn't hurt to check it out.)

Don't remember doing anything special earlier, other than restoring EFS partition, but that was four ROMs back. Wish you success.
