Hello. Is there any way to upgrade the firmware from CrDroid 9.4 (F.20) to the current current firmware with my data, magisk and gapps intact? What's my procedure? Or will I have to restore MSM and re-flash everything from scratch?

Yes indeed. Follow the download link from 1st post. When you are on crdroid.net page, you will see Firmware link. Follow that, download the required firmware zip, extract it, put you phone in bootloader mode, connect to PC and then run the bat file.

After flashing the new Firmware will I have to boot into the recovery and update the ROM via adb sideload in the standard way? And how to save magisk and gapps? Will my personal data (photos, videos, apps) be saved?

Yes, your data will be saved if you don't factory reset. Just boot to recovery, then sideload the newest build. Next step is important that you need to reboot to recovery again. Then you have to sideload the GApps package as you used before and Magisk.

However, you should still backup your personal data as a precaution, just in case things go south.

Can I ask you a few last questions? Will the Magisk modules be saved with this update? After flashing the new version I want to extract the boot from it, patch it with Magisk and then flash it manually via Bootloader. After booting into the system will the modules be saved? And what version of NikGapps do I need to flash again after the upgrade? The same version as the original firmware or a new one?

I have not tried this dirty flash method. I always do a clean flash, as I don't keep photos in the phone. Just have to reinstall the apps and recover Whatsapp from Drive. That's what I do.

But in my opinion, yes Magisk modules will be saved. You might have to re-enable Zygisk and modules again I think. As for the GApps, I think you can flash newere version too. The thing is that /data partition will be unaffected so Magisk modules and apps and stuff will be safe. When you flash GApps, their base apks and other files are flashed to /super (in which there are /system /product /odm etc.), but their updated version apps are in /data.

That was my opinion. I do not know for sure as I have not experimented to check the above info specifically. But I'm fairly hopeful you will be OK.

@lancialo It's also worth mentioning that dirty flash isn't always supported for all ROMs/builds. Sometimes, developers sepcifically ask you to do a clean flash for a specific build. That's why always check the changelog before proceeding with a given build.

im currently on OOS11 which was restored by an MSM tool linked here:
When trying to install the Firmware 13.1.0.500(EX01) via the Firmwareflasher downloaded from here:
i end up in a QUALCOMM CrashDump Mode state.
What am i doing wrong? Can someone help me to pinpoint my mistake? :-(

Thanks for the fast response, you give me light at the end of the tunnel :-D
One question: can i install OOS 12 with any of the provided tools? Or do i need to go through every OTA update?
I tried updating the OOS11 Version via Local Backup with the files from here:

Downloaded the correct files for my specific model but the OTA Updater says "Failed" instantly - so is there any tool for that process that i dont have to do it manually?

Thanks!!! <3

Here is the basic mechanism. When you use MSM tool, it reverts your phone back to OOS11, and that firmware isn't even the latest OOS11. You can't just directly flash OOS13 from there. You have to go step by step. Head over to OxygenOS repo thread, and find the latest OOS11 full firmware zip. Flash that from System Update > Local Upgrade. Then download the latest OOS12 full zip. Flash that. Then download the OOS13 full zip, and to flash that, you have to install Local Update APK for OOS12, and from there you can flash OOS13. Keep those zips on PC so that next time you don't have to download them again in case you have to use MSM Tool.

If you go through built-in OTA update, it will show you even on OOS11 that it will flash your phone to the latest OOS13 build, but it won't do that directly. It will go through the same steps as I explained above. So better to download zips manually on your PC from the repo thread so that you have a copy available for next time.

Unlock the bootloader. Then flash the required firmware from the link provided on crDroid webpage for OnePlus 9. This will flash firmware to both slots so you can rest assured. Next go with the usual process of installing custom ROM as explained before.

P.S. I see that you used MSM Tool for EU variant. Is you phone LE2113?

Wondering if you could offer some help.

Situation:
1. OP9 on Crdroid 9.2 with F20 firmware running perfectly
2. OTAed to Crdroid 9.5 06/09/2023 version
3. Reboot into new and the phone says google play has stopped running (weirdness starts here)
4. Reboot then found boot loop cannot enter system at all
5. Reboot to recovery switch slot then find boot into Qualcomm crashdump

Then don't know what to do at all. Tried
A. Flash EX1 firmware, no booting still (both slot tried, slot B stuck at the bootloader unlocked warning screen, slot A goes into qualcomm crashdump), tried dirty flash Crdroid 9.2 and 9.5, both says error 7.
B. Flash F21 firmware, no booting still (same as above), tried dirty flash Crdroid 9.2 and 9.5, both says error 7.
C. Flash F21 firmware, no booting still (same as above), tried dirty flash Crdroid 9.2 and 9.5, both says error 7.

Don't know what's going on. Anychance I can reboot into system once more to recover the datum on the phone. (My last back up was in April. I thought OTA is safe, but...)

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!
