if these references are any help, I"ll share the usage statistics tomorrow again, after rebooting or complete 100% charging my phone, this include yesterday usage too.
btw charged my phone about 90% before 17 hours.

no issue with same MindTheGapps on LOS 20 or your previous alpha versions. they run fine
but its not a deal breaker, Its awesome rom. Thanks Man
I've enabled screenshot in secure apps by xposed module, and I don't miss any feature other than miui /leica cam port, I'm happy with rom :D
Hmm. I said that because I'm recently testing other phones with multiple times of clean install, and with the latest version of crDroid, MindTheGapps simply refuse to connect to Wi-Fi during setup (on all of those phones). I also tried NikGApps, and it works fine.

Did anyone use Hotspot at 5 GHz?

It turns back to 2.4 Ghz when I start it. Also when it's already running.

Steps to reproduce (method 1):
  1. go to hotspot menu
  2. switch band to 5 GHz
  3. start AP
  4. AP is switching back to 2.4 GHz
Steps to reproduce (method 2):
  1. go to hotspot menu
  2. switch band to 2.4 GHz
  3. start AP
  4. try to switch to 5 GHz while the hotspot is running
  5. hotspot restarts quickly
  6. band is switching back to 2.4 GHz


The Hotspot functionality itself works, but I would like to use it on 5 GHz.

Hello Rocky784 and thank you for this awesome ROM. I am in the same boat as st-mike. WIth the latest 9.5 Upgrade being applied I got a little problem which is kinda strange (will describe later) so I also tried to downgrade.
What I did was downloading the crDroidAndroid-13.0-20230403-grus-v9.3.zip and applying it from within Android itself and later on also via adb sideload and recovery. Both resulted in a phone straight booting into recovery everytime telling me that there is a problem and that I should reformat the system incase it persists.
Luckily I could sideload crDroid 9.5 again and continue using the system.

Now to my problem:
I got a game which suffers from very strange fps drops since I applied 9.5. In specific situations which I can definetly pinpoint the screen drops to 5-15 fps and also freezes completely for 1-2 seconds from time to time.
As soon as I start recording the screen this doesnt happen anymore and I am back to constant 60 fps without any hicups.
The app didnt got updated since 2021 and I didnt change any system settings so I think this must somehow be related to the latest crDroid update.

News on this topic: I downgraded to crDroid 9.3 and everything is working flawlessly again without a single hicup.

Did anyone use Hotspot at 5 GHz?

It turns back to 2.4 Ghz when I start it. Also when it's already running.

Steps to reproduce (method 1):
  1. go to hotspot menu
  2. switch band to 5 GHz
  3. start AP
  4. AP is switching back to 2.4 GHz
Steps to reproduce (method 2):
  1. go to hotspot menu
  2. switch band to 2.4 GHz
  3. start AP
  4. try to switch to 5 GHz while the hotspot is running
  5. hotspot restarts quickly
  6. band is switching back to 2.4 GHz


The Hotspot functionality itself works, but I would like to use it on 5 GHz.

Sure!
Will test on official LOS too.

EDIT:
Hotspot on 5 GHz works after sideloading miui_GRUSEEAGlobal_V12.5.1.0.RFBEUXM_0c905c26ed_11.0.zip. I could test with miui_GRUSGlobal_V12.5.1.0.RFBMIXM_c04478d703_11.0.zip too, if it makes sense.

EDIT2:
It works interestingly on LineageOS (20-20230605-NIGHTLY-grus).
If I share the mobile data, it starts the hotspot on 2.4 GHz.
If I share the wifi network where the phone is connected (aka repeater) the hotspot is started on 5 GHz.
(The "upstream" wifi connection is 5 GHz also)

By the way there is a toggle "Extend Compatibility" but it didn't change the band. 🤷

It works like Lineage: mobile net can be shared only through 2.4 GHz, (5 Ghz) wifi can be shared through 5 Ghz.

But I found that if I remove the SIM card, the band selector for hotspot has only one element: 2.4 Ghz ... and it still shares on band 5 Ghz the upstream wifi.

I hardly follow. 😅



I originally wanted to share my mobile net through 5 Ghz hotspot to take advantages of the wifi AC speeds. 😁
But looks like there is something very off here, and it's not crDroid specific as LineageOS behaves the same.
I'll open a LineageOS issue for this as there are a few for the hotspot 5Ghz keyword.

So far it didnt happen on 9.4.

Do you btw know of any way to make a complete backup of every relevant partition? So far Ive been using Swift Backup but being able to do a backup of everything would be more awesome. TWRP doesnt work because of data encryption. Could probably disable encryption with DFE after flashing the ROM and make it possible again.

Edit: Just made the update to 9.5 again as I will probably wipe data anyway to disable encryption and the FPS issues are back. Can confirm 100% that its just 9.5 and not 9.4.

There is a feature "Pocket detection" in crdroid settings which in my test is awaking device, and when it's on, device can't go to deep sleep and cause battery drain.

Issue confirmed. Pocket mode will be disabled from the next build, as the ultrasonic proximity sensor on this device breaks doze.
Note that pocket mode is also hidden in the stock ROM for this device. It was falsely enabled.

News on this topic: I downgraded to crDroid 9.3 and everything is working flawlessly again without a single hicup.

I also recorded the behavior on 9.5 incasse you stil need an idea whats happening:

Hey. the bug is stil there with version 9.6.

Ok. just found something very interesting. The fps drops only go away as soon as I record video and sound. If I dont record the sound the fps issues stil persist. Wtf is this?

    You need to do a clean flash. Format /system too or addon.d may screw with you.

    The important part is to format /data and /system before flashing the system zip file again (and of course the new gapps). You don't need to flash miui beforehand.

    Go back to 9.1 won't help. You have to NOT install the update. Or wipe the data and install the new build.
    The situation is about encryption and is not retrievable.
