You lose functionality of the Sony apps when you install this, right? Side sense, Dolby atmos, camera pro and cinema pro is mainly what i'm concerned about.

I have just installed this ROM on my phone :)

First impressions are very good.

Working:
  • Wifi, Bluetooth, mobile network (5G)
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Flashlight
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • microSD
  • Camera shutter button
  • Banking app (SafetyNet)
  • All other apps tried for now

Not working:
  • 120Hz refresh rate (setting not available) - Fixed with lineage-20.0-20230124-UNOFFICIAL-pdx206
  • NFC does not turn on (adb logcat does not show anything strange) - Fixed with lineage-20.0-20230124-UNOFFICIAL-pdx206

Working with issues:
  • Sony Photography Pro app (more of a general issue with the app than with this ROM): had to install version com.sonymobile.photopro_1.3.1.A.0.11_patched.apk from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/patched-photo-pro-1-2-for-non-official-systems.4345185/ as:
    • Version com.sonymobile.photopro_1.4.A.0.20-2621460_minAPI31(arm64-v8a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk from that thread crashed when selecting the 70mm lens
    • Version com.sonymobile.photopro_1.5.1.A.0.14-2760718_minAPI31(arm64-v8a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk from apkmirror could not install due to error during install:
adb: failed to install com.sonymobile.photopro_1.5.1.A.0.14-2760718_minAPI31(arm64-v8a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY: Reconciliation failed...: Reconcile failed: Package com.sonymobile.photopro requires unavailable shared library com.sony.device; failing!]
    • Note: I could not get the shutter button to open the app (selecting it in the app settings makes the app crash). I also tried the macro from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fixed-camera-button-after-photo-pro-update.4368295/ but this also did not work. I think it it because the standard camera app also does not open when holding the shutter button. Maybe this is something that can be fixed?
The macro does work after having enabled the setting "System" -> "Buttons" -> "Launch camera"
Issues:
  • The app switcher can be buggy (this was always buggy for me even on stock ROM). One time one of the apps in the app switcher "froze" on top of the screen and I had to lock and unlock the screen to fix this.

If I can test something else, let me know.

That's nice to hear!
How is the battery life and does Dolby Atmos work?

thank you very much for this rom, was just about to ditch the phone and Sony altogether.

in my case I can live without / wait for 120hz display but lack of NFC is a deal breaker :-( I'd like to test the ROM after NFC is confirmed to be working (contactless payments..) -
could anyone who already made the jump check this besides the comment about NFC above?

I will have to test the ROM for a couple of days to see how the battery life looks like. For now it seems to be close to stock, maybe slightly worse but hard to tell.

About Dolby Atmos, do I need to install Magisk to try it out? I would like to avoid rooting the device to lose SafetyNet, but I'm not sure how that works.

EDIT: I installed Magisk and can confirm that Dolby Atmos does work (and it improves audio quality and volume of the speakers)

Wow!

Been waiting for this for ages, thanks so much for getting this ROM up and running!

Any chance you have some insight on how to get microG installed and running on this ROM?

I've tried a few different methods and so far I've not had any luck.

Thanks!

I've noticed another little quirk: when using this rom on the dual sim version of the Xperia 5 ii, incoming calls on the secondary sim will ring, but no toast is displayed, even when opening up the dialer app explicitly. there is absolutely no way to answer an incoming call on the secondary sim. When the call finishes however, it does show as a missed call in the recent list.

Also, any word on getting microG running on this rom?

Thanks!

Thank you!

Finally looks like this phone will be in use for a bit longer.

Installed yesterday on daily driver and everything is working this far.
Passes safetynet with and without magisk.
Tested microg and it also works.

Only thing this far that's not working is the assistant button,

Any plans on keeping this rom updated in the future?
Would love to help out with testing if it gets updated

EDIT! I have not tested if dual-sim works correctly

Can I ask how/what version of microG you installed? I can't seem to get it working on my installation.

Cheers,

(My English is terrible, and the following are all translated using Microsoft Translator.)

Someone on Gitlab has also reported that PDX203 has a similar problem.
    https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5403

I had a report on this issue the other day.
    https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5633

Currently, only the built-in speaker for Line Internet calls works, and nothing else works

I later tried reflashing the latest ROM using TWRP and didn't flash to magisk or any other flashing package and still ran into this issue.
I only got one report complaining audio not working on pdx203 in gitlab issues and when I asked for logs, the person reporting the issue is not providing one, so I didn't think much of it.

While I am not able to reproduce the issue locally, I have provided some steps and possible fixes in your gitlab issue, can you please check them out and report them in the gitlab issue?

Much appreciated, and sorry for the late reply.

    EDIT:
I think it would be better to also add some background information here (might not be very accurate).

Devices like Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II have an amplifier built-in named Cirrus Logic CS35L41, and it needs to be kickstarted and calibrated before it becomes full functional.

In current Lineage OS, the calibration part copies the code from SODP (Sony Open Devices Project) [1], and the calibration is done at boot time, where the amplifier will enter calibration mode, play silence music for 2 seconds, and then we can have the calibration data by reading the amplifier's internal state.

The problem why the speaker does not work in your devices is because something goes wrong during the amplifier calibrates itself, as I can see in the logcat. However, most of the devices will successfully play the silence music for 2 seconds and finish the calibration. So I am not able to determine why your device fail to calibrate that way. And if your devices' amplifier cannot be calibrated by playing silence sounds, it will fail to play any music through your speakers.

So instead of doing this self-calibrating step, the (possible) fix takes another approach, where it loads the factory calibration data directly from the TA partition. This is how audio is calibrated in stock.

Again, since I can't reproduce this problem locally, and considering this problem does not happen in most of the users, The fix may or may not work, but it does not require the amplifier to play the 2-second calibration sound and calibrate itself, which causes your problem.

The related patch is now on LineageOS's gerrit, if you want to take a look:

    [1]: https://github.com/hellobbn/vendor-...mmit/16e5da4f90f9766a06f4701e0af67bec23863298
I want to emphasize again that it is not us as maintainers being lazy. Your problem is actually not a very common and general issue, since most of the device can calibrate the amplifier successfully and it remains unknown why your device fail that step. If we can't reproduce the problem locally, it would be very hard to find the root cause.

Hi thanks for your work to the Xperia 5 II community, I want to know if this step is still needed when my 5 II is already running on the latest Android 12 firmware
"Ensuring all firmware partitions are consistent". As I understand, the flash steps are the below:
    1, unlock the bootloader
    2, flash the LOS recovery
3, wipe- factory reset, flash the firmware partitions (?), flash the LOS
    4, reboot to recovery
    5, flash gapps and add-ons
    6, reboot and enjoy
    Regards
    1. update to latest stock rom and firmware.
    2. unlock bootloader (this resets your device)
    3. flash LOS recovery using fastboot.
    4. reboot to LOS recovery.
    5. flash LOS
    6. reboot to LOS recovery.
    7. flash gapps and add ons if you need (optional)
    8. reboot and profit.
Please read 'Install LineageOS on pdx206'.

For anyone having problems with location.
I have been having problems with maps and other google services updating location after flashing latest nightly 0304.
It would refresh at boot intermittently, but then fail to update after that.
The presentation for me was settings unable to set dark theme and night light based on sunset and sunrise times.
I later found the problem was due to google play services being denied access to location, despite all the relevant permissions were granted in settings.
I installed appops and changed the permission for google play services to allow all the time, and now the problem is fixed.

I followed your steps and the ROM boot without problems, here is a bug I found, I can't add credit card to Google wallet.
For safetynet, you need magisk/safetynet fix/props config or ih8sn.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    Instructions

Please read 'Install LineageOS on pdx206'.
    • Flash Gapps (MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64 is recommended) as add-ons. That is, after flushing LOS, reboot into recovery and flush Gapps.
    Enjoy!
