This ROM is awesome! Been using it for 2 days so far and it exceeded my expectations in every respect. I have never imagined it would be this smooth and well-done. Coming from InsertCoin 3.0.7, using Cyanogenmod is an enormous relief!

Regarding "memory leaks": as far as I could notice those are not really memory leaks but rather memory shortage arising from having only 1 GB of RAM which is simply not enough to run many modern apps (like Google Maps and Chrome) side by side.
I may be wrong, but one thing I do know is that I've been getting memory-related issues (like homescreen redraws and some apps FC'ing) on every single ROM I've tried on M4 (to a greater or lesser extent), and so far I could experience CM is by far not the worst ROM in handling this hardware RAM shortage.

Battery life is just amazing!

@AndroGeek974 @Wingman2K — thanks for making this possible, guys! You really gave my phone a new life.

For those who've tried the latest ROM: have you also tried bluetooth audio? In a car for example. All previous ROMs had bluetooth related issues on M4.

Mine for instance was able to connect to BT devices (car audio system, BT speakers etc), but I couldn't hear anything.

Just opened up one of my drawers to retrieve an ancient BT-headset I haven't used for years, and it fell apart in my hands, so sorry mate, I can't test it for you, LOL :D

AFAIK, all the custom ROM's for M4 that run Android version above 4.4.2, have issues with BT.

After trying out previous build of 12.1, I've installed cm-11-20151004-NIGHTLY-m4 (4.4.4), which works like a charm, including BT audio.

This is my impression as well. I also came from InsertCoin and at least as far as RAM usage is concerned, I experienced very similar behaviour: no memory leaks but rather a problem of limited RAM.
When dealing with large applications you can literally feel the device freeing RAM. Of course this results in redraws and FCs. I do not use Chrome for this reason although I like it :(

More problems I encountered (apart from the "Settings has crashed" issue that was already mentioned):
- Microphone sensivity is low
- Headset microphone sensivity is even lower so that a (wired) headset cannot be used
- Bluetooth audio playback is working, no audio via bluetooth during calls however
- (System) VOIP client is able to establish a call but there is no in-call audio
- Sometimes unable to open the power button reboot/shutdown menu

Apart from these the ROM is very stable! GSM/UMTS/LTE are all working perfectly! Thanks for the great work!

My phone got bricked this morning.

I woke up, disconnected phone from the charger, texted a little and tried to make a phone call. It switched off. It's dead now.

Sadly, this is the second time CM bricks my M4. First one got bricked by CM11 within 30 minutes. This time it got bricked within 4 days :(
First time it looked like overheating killed my phone. But today the phone was cold before and after the bricking.

Maybe it's not software related?

I really doubt it's CM that is bricking your phone. You must be the unluckiest person in the world. :(
Running it for months now without a mayor problem.

@pure.by sorry for that, there is always some risk involved. I also think it is/was a hardware issue. You still have warranty for it?

A similar thing happened to me last month, had a phone call and the phone went off, was not to hot but not cold either. Tried to remove the battery and revive it to get some data off the phone, blame to my self last backup was 3 month old and the more recent one was still on the phone. I am sure, I was on AndroGeeks last build no chance to check it ;) but the fact that it happens to somebody else worries me a bit. My replacement still behaves well. As far as I know, never got LTE working, but that might be because of a wrong hboot, on the new one it does. This is my 4th m4 phone now but only one died/bricked.

My m4 also died once. At that time, however, I was completely on stock 4.4.2 without having done any "custom" stuff. It crashed out of nowhere and did not show any reaction afterwards. Clearly a hardware issue... seems to happen "frequently" with this device and encourages me even more not to go for htc in the future....
@Wingman2K Does your latest build include any major change? RAM usage seems to be A LOT better than before....

@encelados , repaired my old HTC One S (ville), was a good phone, probably better than this one and gave it to my brother. he was happy with it to. I have to use this one now and try to make the best out of it ;)
there are no modification, just build everything as usual and yes it looks like there is better ram usage. but this might was an app related problem too. Removed amazon music app, had some weird interactions with amazon app itself when I got back online (both started to do something and used around 100M of RAM) and another app which took 50M most of the time. There is still strange behaviour when using bluetooth and play music at the same time, the phone gets a little unresponsive. Using a BT heart rate monitor and listen music or play music via BT speaker.

uploaded a new build today. my phone runs on it already ;)

Latest build is more stable than ever! I did not need to reboot since I flashed it ~10 days ago!
@Wingman2K Could you provide some information on how to build it myself? I followed the cm build instruction to sync the repo. I think I now need to create a local manifest to include the TeamEOS kernel and I would really appreciate some advice :)
