Full wipe advised between major versions, you can try but definitely have a nandroid backup in case

No, but you can use factory image or this ROM and then ota zip

Tried both odexed & deodexed version of this ROM, and both ended up in various Google apps continuously crashing. Can anyone offer a solution to this?

TWRP recovery built in with newest superuser.

once i download and install Google experience launcher you will get the hot word detection from launcher and the transparent status bar and NavBar

After trying various custom rom, I found out that stock rom is the most stable and enough for almost all needs, how sad for "freedom" of Android
Ofcourse Google is doing better and better and it is good for everyone, but somehow I missed the time with Gingerbread on my Desire, with modded roms did tons of better things than stock gingerbread

Thanks to OP and Ben Ling, I'll running OP's odex ROM with root, OTA to 4.4.2 and Ben Ling's update. Much smoother than any cooked rom I must say, at least for the short time I had used.
