[ROM][17 Feb] GGL ROM - Defy Green Lens [Android 2.3.6]

Hi guys I have found a solution to random reboots and freezes.

I can't say I've experienced any reboots or freezes, random or otherwise?

1. GMaps Froze up. Device became un-responsive. Had to remove the battery for restart. Will try a few more times to see if this was a one time issue or recurring one. Anbody else with faced this?
2. Swype was FC all the time after a few days of use. Had to uninstall and then reinstall again. Data wipe did not help.

Other wise good.

did you try to enable debug at application/programmers/ debug

Tethering non working

Hi guys,

installed this ROM - and have to say "Thanks!" for a well done job!

But now, since yesterday I am facing a problem I would like to ask you for help:

Mobile Hotspot and USB Tethering is not working. USB Tethering can even not be adjusted, the menue is just grey. Mobile Hotspot is starting, I can have a connection from my other mobile or my laptop - but no internet available. Tried several ways, with or without encryption, other broadcast channel, doesnt matter - it just dont work. APN is set right, I have a mobile internet connection on my Defy.

Without a working mobile hotspot I would need to use a 3G-stick again, which I do not want ... for the worst case I would need to get back to 2.2.1.

Any idea? Every comment is highly appreciated!

I don't have it installed now, but AFAIK both work...
for USB tether you might have to enable USB debugging....

It is very strange - USB tethering option is grey, no matter what I do. Enabled debugging - no effect. Has been reading about an APN issue with 2.3.6, but I can edit existing and add new APNs without problems. Tried also - no effect.

Most strange thing is - I have mobile connection on my Defy. It is not like I dont get it. And when I enable the Mobile Hotspot the devices connect to the hotspot, I can see it on both (hotspot and device), IP is set correctly from the DHCP range. BUT: The clients have no access to the internet. I can only ping to the hotspot, no trace to www.google.de or others possible. Somehow the gateway is not working properly...

Any further comments are welcome!

PS: If there is a better Rom existing than this (for MB525) with full functionality - please let me know, but I prefer only stock roms, or roms like this one which is very close to it...

To be sure it is not caused by wrong settings made by me I just wiped all, after the first setup directly started the mobile hotspot - and have the same result. Tried tracert from my laptop, but it only can trace up to the hotspot, no further routes possible. Now I am stuck in this subject ...

I got it working on more different roms with this app from market as far as I remember...

I've created this to help Green Lens users (like myself) to get "stock" Motorola Defy+ 2.3.6 easier. Without flashing greenbreadmod, battery fix etc.

This ROM works on Red Lens also
For Red Lense users change /etc/media_profiles.xml with this:http://www.mediafire.com/?yrgm6t2xdtjgpz9 and set permissions
for proper FPS on bayer module

Why this and not CM7.2?
Well, I really love CM7.2 but on this ROM I get Faster 3D (sais Quadrant) and Better(faster) (IMHO) GPS than CM7.2.

How to install:
-Extract the GGL-ROM folder from archive
-Put the folder on sd-card in clockworkmod/backup
-Go to recovery and restore back-up
-Go to Advance restore and restore boot & devtree
-Enjoy

This ROM is based on 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 from 12. Jan. 2012 (with new lockscreen)


It's very fast and smooth. Feedback from users also reflect this.

Are you sure previously flashing GGL rom
you have on the phone froyo 2.2 cee
or nordic?
If not try again flashing 2.2 rom first
then from recovery GGL rom.
If U have sbf flashed over froyo 2.2
then read in the threats how to
do with 2.3.6.
