Welcome to Cognition 777! The idea behind this rom is to unify my rom making efforts into a single rom for the i9100 and the i777 with only minor changes between them to make managing two or three roms take the time of one rom. I have decided to base everything on the i9100 stock firmware simply because it has less restrictions, more frequent updates, and way more options when it comes to customizations.

Based on I9100XWKJ3 firmware
Rooted, deodexed and zipaligned
Entropy's Daily Driver kernel (11132011, ondemand governor)
Latest modem I777UCKJ4
Bloatware removed
Camera: Take picture/video below 15%
Camera: Take picture/video while on a call
Camera: Take picture/video with the volume buttons, click to focus and snap or hold to focus and let go to snap picture
Camera: Take picture/video without interrupting music
Camera: Records Audio in 192kbps/44.1Khz quality (CD Quality) rather than stock (64kbps/16khz quality)
Browser: Option to set font size
Browser: Option to select a user agent (sticks after reboot)
Browser: Remove built-in bookmarks
Logs Provider: Removed text messages from logs
Launcher: Custom default layout on home screens and app drawer
Settings: Additional screen timeout options (30 minutes and never)
Settings: Enabled 'Stay Awake' development option
Settings: Enabled option to set default install location
Status bar: 5 bar signal (i9100 uses 4 bars)
Wallpaper Chooser: Enabled hidden wallpapers
Messaging: Increased max message size to AT&T max 307200 -> 614400

  • Added Loopy Smoothness Tweak by lpy (modded by gtg465x)
  • Limited NFC support
  • Updated system apps

Cognition 777 r3 [11/21/2011]

Known Issues:
No real issues so far.
Kernel was not flashing! (FIXED)
TouchWiz starting on page one is not a bug
The dialer call buttons go to the call log with no number typed (this is normal on i9100 roms)
NFC and Stay Awake don't stick after reboot (this is normal)
When on vibe only mode the vibe and mute icon appear in the notification tray (really guys?!)

Screenshots:

Special Thanks:
gtg465x (browser mods, smali source diffs, ideas)
Entropy (for his kernel and better sound fix for i9100 ports)
Cyanogen (SQLite mods)
LeoMar75 (build.prop tweaks)

Weeeeeeeeee - will download and test ASAP when link comes up :).

Does this serve as a 'replacement' for Cognition 2 1.5.1 in its current state or?

Still need to make a tweaked kernel and tweaked framework to account for the button changes, but other then that it works on both devices.

If I am using the S2 Euro version (well Australian in my case, but anywho, NOT the US variant) will I be OK to move straight across - or should I wait for these 'tweaked' features as my buttons won't function appropriately, and is more suited for people with AT&T variant atm?

Cognition 2 1.5.1 has been a dream-boat thus far, but as a Business phone, want to make the transition as painless as possible (obviously a WIPE is recommended?), so I'll be guided by you.

Cheers!

EDIT: This is obviously KI3/4 too?

This is the stock AT&T version, I777UCKH7.

I would stick with Cognition S2 for now if it is a business phone, I haven't been able to test on any other variants yet.

Much appreciated mate, my mistake also - only just realized where you posted this thread too haha :).

Will keep an eye on thread for when you give the heads up to test :).

Oh, DG, any way to make the SMS app black in convo view? I hate having the text box be black and the background white.

Also, can you revert the sound icons back to the Captivate behavior? Because the vibe icon in the status bar is there when Vibration is set to Always, not when the phone is in Vibe mode. And when in silent, it has both no sound icon and vibe icon. Waste of space. Pretty please make one icon for state of phone, no icon for sound and vibe, and a vibe icon for vibe?

Hi designgears, first of all a Big Thank You for your great work and for sharing with us :D

If you need a "non business" phone (unbranded Euro version), mine is fully available for testing your betas (now perfectly working with Cognition S2 1.5.1), let me know!

request

First off, thanks for the rom (s)

Cognition has been THE favorite since the start. But enough praise;-)

I'd like to make a small request since you're modding the camera:

1. Please keep the volume shutter button. I cannot live without it.

2. Please consider removing battery limit on the camera, and opening for playing music and using phone at the same time as taking pictures..

For the rest.. Just do your thing man!
I'm exited to try the next version.. :)
