he don't need to flash an older rom
... if he is on viperX 4.x.x he can flash Alex-V kernel and then sd manager should work...if not MTP should be enough is working good toohe don't need to flash an older rom
I don't know about viperx 4, i really dislike sense 5, and don't care for it. i gave advice based on what i know and use.
And mtp is still kinda buggy, it has nothing to do with the phone. On all devices mtp is unreliable, sometimes computer will not recognize device, sometimes it doesn't show all files...
Direct usb storage mode is much, much better. Android went completely the wrong way by not supporting msc mode any more.

yea it's only accessable through custom kernel and workarounds in rom etc,...
But how am I supposed to flash a rom if I can't access my phone storage to drop in the zip file?

Ok since I couldnt find a way to access my sd storage I am transfering the viper x 4.2 rom via bluetooth. lol pretty much the only way I thought of. Could you tell me which kernel to flash to have access storage option and how to do so?
do I get those from the app store?
Edit: I Sir freaking love you! I've been for 3 straight days and nobody could tell me I can access my sd card with airdroid! Thank you thank you thank you!

Yep you get them from there ...you also could just use custom recovery if you flashed to transfer it...and like I said to get sd manager working in viper 4.x.x you need Alex-v kernel and just use the sd manager app built-in viper but mtp works with custom Rom and custom kernel also good...if no way to get mtp or even no recognize just install latest HTC driver etx

See, I would flash the phone but I want to keep it stock because I'm giving it to my girlfriend so I want to keep it as simple as possible. But airdroid pretty much did the trick. I'm not sure I want to flash a rom since she's gonna be using it. I already downloaded vipex 4.2 I think it says it supports SD MANAGER right? Or do I still need to flash another kernel?
Read what I wrote...for sdmanager you need a custom kernel ...as we don't have the sense 5 kernel source code team venom couldn't built a with that option and as Alex-v kernel has patches for sense 5 sd manager should work...and to flash a Rom you need custom recovery and unlocked bootloader...

YES! I understand that. I already flashed twrp and unlocked the bootloader. I had already tried to mount the sd card from recovery but still no good. Airdroid pretty much did it but I want to make it simple for my gf to just add and delete files. And since the descrption in viper x 4.2 says it has sd manager I was just wondering about flashing it before you told me about the kernel. THANKS GUYS, you guys are so helpful.

Firstly I wanted to thank everyone involved for making an awesome rom that fully utilises the hardware in my htc one x! Feels like a new phone as so much faster and feature full!
I have had a search but struggling to read through everything for what I need...
When I un-install applications I seem to get greyed out icons with "SD" on the application screen. They don't appear immediately but show up over night. I can drag them to uninstall but then they re-appear after a while. I also tried searching in file explorer for any remnants but to no avail.

This is the custom Kernel Flasher for the ViperX Rom.
With this script you can easily flash custom kernels.
Make sure you are on the home screen and connected to your computer and have usb debugging enabled.
After that run the script for your OS.
Mac: start_mac.command
Windows: start_windows.bat
Linux: start_linux.sh

I would say ViperX 3.0.0 is 95% complete.
From the tests conducted, only vertical EQS, status bar and EQS theming and other cosmetic imperfections make up the remaining 5% that is needed for a public release.
The ROM is out of beta and in RC status, I've been running it under heavy testing for the last 7 days and even with the "bugs" remaining, in my opinion, it can be released publicly....
But that isn't how Team Venom does things, I speak on behalf of the entire team, we want to deliver a custom ROM experience that is BAR NONE.
Themers are theming, testers are testing, devs are developing and the guys are up until 03H00AM in the morning working on ViperX 3.0.0
When this goes public, all y'all need to extend sincere gratitude to Richmondo in what ever way possible, a one man smali/baksmali coding machine, he comes home from work, gives up precious time with his wife that can't be regained to work on a project for YOU GUYS.
A ETA is undefined but a release is imminent...
