No. I simply wiped system, data, both cache leaving internal storage and flashed the ROM, Gapps and Magisk.
Ok but wiping system and data will require me to reinstall all apps which I previously installed manually after flasing the latest ROM, right? I remember with OxygenOS update from Oneplus I needed only to clear the Dalvik and Cache and most apps would survive the flash.

Thanks for the update. I have flashed the latest ROM to upgrade my previous Havoc version using latest TWRP but I am getting a boot loop a few seconds into the reboot. I only wiped Dalvik and Cache partition before flashing. Have I done it correctly? What may cause this boot loop?
I think you already got the answer. sometimes a clean flash is needed to avoid issues and to make sure everything works as expected.
just to clarify i am not saying dirty flash always created issues but if user encounter issues after dirty flash so perform a clean one is a mandatory.
and yes, all previous installed apps will be wiped out after cleaned flash.
so its yours to decide..

True, though you can backup the apps & settings with TiBU and try to restore after flashing the ROM. (By the way, I did this). But if the Gapps/settings were the cause of the issue, then restoring them by TiBU will reproduce the issue.

Another way is to back up using your Google account and then choosing to restore from the account at the time of initial set up of the ROM.

That said, since you have already encountered an issue, in your place I will really clean flash and not restore anything.

Hello!! I have installed havoc GSI on umidigi X, works perfectly, I am now trying to install it on my umidigi bison. However with the new dynamic partitions it's not as simple as "flash system" due to the new super partition. Does anybody have a guide for installing like this? Phone is not supported by twrp so it's not really an option at the minute. Sorry if it has been asked before and thank you for any help!

Oh I just realised this is a device specific thread, my bad

I have a question. Regarding the fact that I'm facing of replaced screen wake up problem (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/display-wakeup-issues-after-screen-replacement.3843750/) when using 3.12 version I had to install 3.7 (thank You theduke7). But does anybody succeed with installing 3.12, custom kernel and magisk working properly?

I don't fully understand it but does installing 3.12 + mady's kernel + magisk, and then flashing the boot.img from 3.7 doesn't discard the changes made by flashing custom kernel?

My last update process:
I updated to the last firmware oxygen 9.0.6 (I was on 9 before, but not the latest firmware)
I wiped /system, /data, dalvik and /cache (format for the partitions to be sure that they are clean)
I installed 3.12 from scratch, then the latest gapps nano and magisk but I encountered a loop in setting up my fingerprint and some other gapps settings in the dialogue on first device start. (it always asked me to enter a new
fingerprint/came back to one
page of the dialogue that I had already confirmed)

So I switched to 3.12 with included gapps and it worked. In-case anyone else has had this issue. :)

another issue I had with both: I enter my sim pins (2 Sims), I log in to my wifi but the dialogue doesn't continue. I have to go backwards and then forwards to continue. As if it doesn't realize that it has a working internet connection now, so I can log into my Google account.
